I have a qeustion about apple care centers

Hi, everybody
I am an international in Canada, recently my macbook pro had a problem with the lcd which has a lots of black dots and a little big smurge on the screen.
So, I took it to an apple care center May 22, a rep told me it took a week or little bit more, O.K I said, there was no answer from the center since yesterday, I called them, having a bad news that it'll take 2 more weeks to delivery.
I asked them, so can I get it back today?
Here is the problem, he said o.k "But, you should deposit $750" I asked why, he said, "perhaps if you do not come to the office with your mac by the date when the part arrives
then we should pay for that"
My question is "Do I have to deposit $750 for my computer?"
If yes, then "How come the cost values $750?"
I need your help a lot. Please give me your opinions.
Thanks

Hi tristan_song,
Welcome to the forum.
This Apple Care Centre, is it an independent Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP)? I am assuming it is.
You have to understand that Apple Authorised Resellers (AAR) and AASPs are independent businesses. Their only relationship to Apple is that they applied for the AAR and/or AASP accreditation and were successful in meeting the minimum criteria for Apple to award the accreditation to them.
An AASP can carry out warranty work on behalf of Apple but they have a very small window in which to return the faulty part once they receive a new part from Apple. If they miss that window then they can be liable to pay Apple the full cost of the part.
What it comes down to is trust. Maybe they were 'bitten' on previous occasions by allowing someone else to take their Mac while they were waiting for parts to arrive and the person never returned.
I always make a point to get to know my local AASP/AAR. Know all the staff, take one or two out for a drink every now and again, send birthday cards when appropriate etc etc. It has worked very well for me and whenever I have to use them I always get put to the front of any queue and my case has always been dealt with minimum inconvenience.

Explain me about Apple care protection plan validity and coverage in india

From what I have read in the past, because India has no formal Apple stores and relies on a  re-seller system that hardly justifies the name, getting warranty service is difficult.   Those who sell Apple products tend only to service the products they have sold.    If you import a Mac, for example, the value of the international warranty appears to be at the whim of these re-sellers and I have seen many examples where they simply delay any service almost indefinitely.   All you can do is make a nuisance of yourself with Apple's head office and hope they will put pressure on these errant sellers.
The problem, it appears, is that the Indian government will not allow foreign companies to hold a controlling interest (or more than 50 %) of the shares ... as a result, I read, Apple will not open their own stores.

  • About apple care plus

    Hello,
    How are you?
I would like to ask about the apple care plus service program.
If I buy an iphone 6 plus in Korea, Could i join the apple care plus service program and have 2 times refurbishment in Hong Kong?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
    Thanks,

No. AppleCare is only available in the country you purchase it in. It is not an international warranty. And neither is the standard iPhone warranty.

  • Question about apple care

i just can't find the Web Registration Instructions card or booklet in the apple care box. so how can i get the AppleCare registration number???

I would suggest that you contact the place that sold you AppleCare and tell them that you have an incomplete box. If the box was not shrink-wrapped in plastic when it arrived, it was probably opened by someone else and the card with the plan registration code removed.
If you purchased AppleCare directly from the Apple Store, call the Apple Store and explain the situation to them. If you purchased AppleCare at the same time that you purchased a new Mac, your AppleCare plan may have been enrolled automatically so a code would not be necessary. The Apple Store should be able to tell you, and if you should have received a card with a registration code, they should be able to help resolve the situation.
    Regards.

  • How long do I have left with my apple care.

    Hi
Could anyone tell the easiest way to find out how long I have left on my Imac (apple care warranty). I have sold it and want to know the definite year and month when it expires. I have checked the website on apple care but just says I m covered but doesn't say when it expires.
    Thanks
    Tom

does this mean I can take it to my nearest Apple Store to be repaired?
Yes, you can; you can always take a Mac to any Apple Store for service. I'm not sure what the "custom agreement" might be; perhaps a service extension of some sort. If that is the case, then whether or not Apple will repair your system for free will depend on what that extension covers, but the Apple Store will provide a diagnosis and an estimate of the charges if the problem is not covered under warranty.
    Regards.

  • Need to have screen checked before Apple Care expires -  have I voided it?

There is some imperfection on my iMac screen - looks like the screen is dirty, but it seems to be under the glass or something.
Anyway, want to have it looked at before Apple Care Expires in october. My question: if I've upgraded RAM myself, did I void the Apple Care?

+My question: if I've upgraded RAM myself, did I void the Apple Care?+
No you haven't - RAM is a user installable part on iMacs. If you've kept the original RAM, you could pop that back in if necessary, but since the problem is with the screen, it should not have anything to do with the RAM.
I'd make an appointment with a Genius Bar nearby to have the screen checked.

  • It's about apple care for macbook pro 13", i'm following their registration process and at the 3rd step(final) the page is not responding not even redirecting for registration conformation! what to do with it?

Need help, or else will lost my Rs.15k.

It could be as simple as a glitch with their server; but, we don't know for sure, so I'd suggest calling Apple (800-275-2273 in the US) and telling them that you want to  register Applecare (tell them the website is not responding). You have 364 days from the date of purchase of your computer to register.
What do you mean by "lost my Rs.15k."?

  • How do I lodge a complaint about Apple Care server support?

I'm having a nightmare time with my year old OS X 2.2.1 server (Postgres has recently started crashing and taking down Wiki when it does so, for no apparent reason), and called Apple Support in the UK.  They were totally unhelpful - refusing to engage in the discussion because the server has more ram than standard and an SSD fitted (both fitted by the authorised Apple reseller who sold the computer): that it has worked fine for a year, and apple unable to provide any explanation as to basis for their theory that Postgres crashes being linked to 'excess RAM' or SSD.  I would like complain about the experience, but I was unable to get any clarity from the Apple Support person I spoke to about who to complain to or how.  Nor can I find anything on the Apple Web site with details of who to address such complaints to.
    Anyone got any ideas?
