I have a question about the new Magic mouse and wireless keyboard.

Just wondering. My computer is in my kitchen, against a wall, and connected to my t.v. directly on the other side of this wall in my living room. My question is this, can I use the wireless mouse and keyboard with the computer in the living room, through the wall, while mirroring the screens? Hope this makes sense. In other words, will the magic mouse and keyboard have the strength of range to connect through the wall. Thanks.

It depends on how far it is and how thick your walls are. If there plasterboard partitions and only 10 feet apart then probably.
If you have a mobile phone with bluetooth, then try sending the computer a picture of file from similar distances to that you intend using the keyboard, if it works then a bluetooth keyboard and mouse should.

I am buying an iMac to AirPlay mirror on my big screen TV with AppleTV (2nd generation). But my TV is located far away from my iMac and I won't be able to use my magic mouse or wireless keyboard via bluetooth connection. Will magic mouse and wireless keyboard work with my G4?

hello, i have a 1.25 Ghz ppc g4 imac and have leopard installed. i was wondering if i get a bluetooth dongle and a magic mouse and wireless keyboard would it work? would i also need a special kind of bluetooth adapter? i already have airport extreme, im going for the modern mac one wire (power cord) look. thank you.

the Magic Mouse requires at least OS 10.5.8 whcih you don't have.
The current wireless keyboard requires 10.6 which cannot run on a G4 iMac.
I would look to third-party solutions. I like Logitech input devices:

However, even the Logitech devicez may require a higher version of the Mac OS than you have. Be certain to check system requirements very closely before buying something.

How I got the Bluetooth Magic mouse and Aluminum keyboard to work in XP

NOTE: The following steps fixed my issue. I thought I would share what worked for me but I really don't ever visit these discussion groups. I used a combination of Sysinternal tools to isolate what was causing my issue and rectified it.
I couldn't for the life of me get the bluetooth magic mouse and keyboard working in a bootcamp'd windows xp. Here are the steps that I performed to finally get it to work. The assumptions are that you are running a clean XP build with SP3 and all windows updates installed.
1. Using a USB mouse and keyboard. Insert the OS X install disc into the drive and run through the bootcamp drivers install. (These steps are outlined at Page 12 in the Apple Boot Camp Installation Guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/bootcampinstall-setup.pdf). Let the installers run per apple instructions in the bootcamp installation guide. At the end it will want to reboot. Reboot the system.
2. After the system reboots login and run the Apple Software Update utility to update from bootcamp 3.1 to 3.2. It will run through a bunch of installers and ask to reboot at the end. Reboot.
3. After the system reboots login and go to start=>run and type "services.msc" to bring up the services control panel.
4. Double-click the "Bluetooth Support Service" to open the properties.
5. Go to the "log on" tab and look to see what is set. If it is set to "NT Authority\LocalService" then click above it to change to "Local System account." Then click "OK." It will tell you the changes won't take effect until the service is restarted. No worries.
6. You will be back in the main services control panel. Make sure the "Bluetooth Support Service" is highlighted and look up to the left and select "restart the service."
7. Close all the open windows and then go to start=>run and type "control panel" and hit enter.
8. Double-click the "Bluetooth devices" control panel applet and follow the Apple instructions provided on Page 18 of the guide referred to earlier. Start with the mouse first. Stop when done with the mouse and don't continue on to the keyboard yet.
9. At this point my mouse was "installed" but did not show "connected" in the bluetooth devices applet. I then highlighted the mouse and clicked the "properties" button down to the right.
10. Once in the properties of the mouse I selected the "services" tab. My issue before making the switch to "Local System" account for the Bluetooth services was then when I tried to click the check box to enable "Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc (HID)" I would get an "access denied" error. Now that the switch has been made you should be able to click that check box without error. Click OK after enabling.
11. You will suddenly see systray (lower right of the screen where the clock is) saying that new hardware has been detected and enabled. Once this is all done you will see "connected" below the device in the Bluetooth applet. Give your mouse a go. It should be working now. Sweet!
12. Follow the steps in the Apple guide for your keyboard. This should work too now. Sweet!

I have a question of the cost of the new share everything plan. I looked at the options and prices for different phones. Next to smartphone it says 40 dollars, next to basic phone it says 30 dollars etc etc. Does that include the unlimited texts, and minutes? If so, how much would this plan cost for 2 smart phones and one basic phone with the unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 2gb of data cost per month?

yeah, the line access fee (40 for smartphones, 30 for basic, etc) includes unlimited talk/text and access to the pooled data allowance. It would be $170/month before insurance and taxes and fees for the 2GB plan($60), 2 smartphones ($40*2) and a basic phone ($30)

Problems with magic mouse and wireless keyboard at the same time

I have a Macbook pro 15" mid 2009, with lion 10.7.3, i bought a magic mouse and small wireless keyboard Apple, but when i'm working with both devices at the same time, the magic mouse begin to do something wrong, the left click work as left click, and i have to turn off the keyboard, wait for a while and then the mouse work good, the keyboard work good alone and mouse too, but at the same time no.
What do you think about rarely issue?

Been losing connection for magic mouse and wireless keyboard

When I have my MBP running Mavericks in clamshell mode, I lose connections to both magic mouse and apple wireless keyboard in clamshell mode. I've tried all the PRAM SCM, aluminum foil and paper tricks. What I then did was test what happens when I leave the MBP open rather than in clamshell mode and it appears to avoid losing connection, at least that is what I've concluded with Mavericks for now..... anyone else able to replicate this? Having to leave the MBP open is not ideal.

I've tried every thing I can think of or have read, what I'm concluding is that there is either a problem with Mavericks or something has changed on how bluetooth works in Mavericks. Did not have this problem for the last 4 years. I can reproduce the problem when I close the laptop. I had the Bluetooth and wireless card checked out and replaced about 3 weeks ago. Problem has continued.

I have a question about the new ipod touch

I just got a 32GB ipod touch a week and one day ago and now i hear that a new one with more features is coming out. This is'nt fair since the new one has more features but costs $100 less than when i bought mine. Since i bought it recently is there anyways i can return it and get the new one instead? My ipod is still brand new without any scratches at all since i put a case on it as soon as i took it out of the box.

I purchased a refurbished iPod touch 8g about 10 days ago. I am thinking of sending it back. The question is it really worth the hassle? In Canada the 8g is going to sell for $259. I think I will loose 10% restocking fee plus shipping it back. Thoughts ??

I have a 2009 macbook pro. I am interested in downloading the Mavericks software, but I only have 4 GB of RAM. Will it work efficiently on that, or will it be too slow, and I need to buy more RAM. How much would it cost me to buy 8 GB of RAM at the apple store?

If you can run your current system (Mountain Lion) on 4 GB RAM, then it'll work on Mavericks as well. Having said that, I've found that things are far more snappy with 8 GB.
If you choose to upgrade to 8 GB, do not buy it at the Apple store; two most recommended RAM vendors are OWC (macsales.com) and Crucial. Both have lifetime warranties and OWC has excellent install videos. They also test the RAM on Macs and guarantee it to work. I would not buy RAM anywhere else.

Why is the battery charger for the magic mouse and wireless keyboard not included in the package when I bought my iMac?

I was not given a choice or let known that I would receive wireless keyboard and mouse that requires charging. If I had known earlier I would have asked for non-wireless devices or bought the charger on spot.
The charger should've been a given and not be considered as a separate accessory that requires to be bought. This is the same as having bought an iPhone but not given the charger.
I am very disappointed with Apple regarding this matter. I hope it'll be resolved soon.

Well in that case, they should've provided us with rechargeable batteries instead of the alkaline ones. I mean, the sole purpose of having wireless mouse/keyboard is the purpose of convenience. Having to replace the batteries (that don't last very long from my experience) does not seem convenient to me.
What's more, by providing users with non-rechargeable batteries is not an environmentally friendly choice as this results in an increase in disposal of hazardous waste. I'm bringing this environmental issue up because they have an environmental policy in their company, and on their website they talk about their environmental resposibilities which is quite contradicting as shown in their actions, don't you think?

Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard: Should charge off iMac

Apple, you've been shipping Bluetooth peripherals that require disposable batteries for years. It's time to design long-lasting rechargeable batteries into these devices.
Years ago I open-lettered the idea of designing Apple's BT devices with built-in rechargeable batteries. The basic idea consists of a USB cable that is used periodically to connect to the CPU and to the devices. The devices would have a red and green light that become visible when depleted or charged respectively. When the devices require a charge, the USB cable is connected to the iMac and then to the device. The USB cable is put away once the green light indicates a full charge.
No visual clutter, no batteries to dump into the landfill.
While I'm not a rabid environmentalist, the fact that Apple is speaking openly about it's accomplishments in this area (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/environment.html), while at the same time shipping a Mac that requires disposable batteries is a bit of a letdown to this longtime Mac buyer (since 1986).
Throwaway batteries are unnecessary.
The technology exists to include a long life built-in rechargeable battery. A USB charging cable, used as described above, would not clutter Apple's design intentions for the new iMacs. Instead, it would strengthen Apple's Green Design goals.
Apple has had years to noodle out such a feature. In my opinion, there's no excuse for this oversight.

Not all of us have a lot of computer space. My iMac is on a small table along with my TV, cable box, DVD player, etc. I have a rats nest of wires in the back, including my internet receiver, USBs for my iPod, wireless keyboard, and wireless trackball, a backup hard drive, and my printer (I have to switch something else out in order to plug it in). I might sit on the edge of my bed and put the keyboard in my lap, although I usually stretch out in bed a few feet away to work.
I had a wired keyboard and trackball a while ago, and nearly pulled the computer off the table a couple of times as I was trying to get settled in! So going wireless is as much a matter of practicality for some of us, as your preference for hard wiring is for you. If you prefer being wired, I hope someone comes up with a product that meets your needs - and maybe by the time they do they will have the "bugs" worked out of this new one.

Two questions about the new iWeb

I've got two questions about the new iWeb.
1. Is it possible to blog online now? Meaning adding a new blog entry without having to be on your own Mac? This is a feature I've been waiting for since iWeb first was released.
2. Is it possible to choose the format of images? Earlier editions had the option to "optimize" images but that meant it changed it into .png meaning the site got a lot heavier than if .jpg was used. And since I have relatives who still only have an isdn connection I need to be able to have the website as light as possible.

Question about the new Yoga 10 HD+

A few questions about the new Yoga 10 HD+ which I hope you can answer.
I bought the old model last year. Loved the design and long battery time but a few major issues made me return it.
Somewhere I read that it can't read NTFS over USB so I presume that's the same with an NTFS formatted microSD card?
Can it read exFAT formatted microSD cards?
Anyone observed issues regarding audio over bluetooth?
(I know BT isn't exactly High End HiFi but the old Yoga 10 for some odd reason - most likely a driver issue which nobody cared to fix - sounded *much* worse with quite noticeably distortion while both my phone and a cheap noname tablet I have zero fidelity issues - no matter which of my bluetooth audio devices I tried aptX or not)
So to avoid buying this only to return it too I really would like to see if I can have my questions answered before buying it.
While I love the form factor and long running time the above issues are just two mayor dealbreakers to me. Bad audio quality = no joy listening to spotify, local MP3s etc. No NTFS or exFAT = no large movies.
My old noname android tablet really could use an upgrade so I'm really curious whether this can be it or I should look at the competition and sacrify form factor and battery runtime.

I mean with Androids Linux roots it should be a nobrainer to support at least when it comes to royalties unlike NTFS or exFAT where there *might* be some issues with Microsoft.

Sony for sure I know support exFAT. I'm usure about Samsung. Odd it seems so hard to find out. File sizes of +4 GB should be taken for granted - it's not 199x anymore...
Oh well. Wonder whether to just go for one from the competition or perhaps just save the money and wait until 64 bit catches on. Rumors is that the next Nexus 8 will be 64 bit... (I really don't expect an answer on this)
