I have a refurbished iPhone 5 (which I got less than a year ago) and the screen becomes unresponsive and there is a purplish haze that appears on the phone when I try to use it. Hasn't been dropped or cracked.. What could it be? help!!

I Have a refurbished iPhone 5 that is less than a year old (apple replaced my first one due to a battery fault) but this one has all of a sudden become unresponsive most times and a purple haze has come thru the background on the lCd. The cursor goes abit cranky sometimes too and jumps from Window to window?! It has never been dropped or screen has never been replaced either no exposure to water or sun. This happened after I upgraded to the new iOS 8.1. I don't think it was the update but I've never had good results from updating the iPhone anyway..
HELP?? I have an appt with Apple tomorrow but don't know if I can wait that long!!

Hey there jjroca,
It sounds like you are unable to make or recieve phone calls because the screen goes black. I would start by quitting all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If that does not resolve the issue, I would use the troubleshooting in the following article, named:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls

Warranty and support for the iPhone are provided only in the country in which the iPhone was officially sold. To get service for an iPhone purchased in Hong Kong, you'll have to take the iPhone back to HK or send it to someone you know there who can get it serviced and then ship it back to you.

I got my ipod 5 less than a year ago, and yesterday the speakers stopped working. Will I get a new ipod for free?

Yesterday, i plugged in headphones, and when i took them out, it said headphones were still in it when i tried to change the volume. Now it cannot play any volume, or take in any volume, unless you have headphones plugged in and the have a built in microphone. Since i got my ipod less than a year ago, will i get a new one for free?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I did get the updates, but that’s all…

Firefox works fine on Windows 2000 SP4 for me.

If you're in the US, some Apple stores can replace the display for $149. If yours can't, you can get the phone replaced for $269.

I have had an apple iPad 2 for less than a year and I have less than 2 pages of apps but when I look at the space meter the "other" section is taking up 6.7 Gb out of 16 Gb on it. I have researched this on the Internet and no one seems to know what it is.

The long and short of it is that you will probably have to restore your iPad. That giant "other" space is a sign of a corrupt file from a sync, I am pretty sure, but I am quite sure that the way to resolve it is to restore the iPad.
You can search the discussion site for similar threads but I think you will find that a restore is the way to correct it. Read this one.

My iphone 5 screen becomes unresponsive and freezes constantly

Whenever I try to type on my keyboard to send a text, or even when I'm on the home screen trying to swipe across my phone will just randomly freeze and will not let me touch the screen to do anything. It does this multiple times EVERYDAY AND DRIVES ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!

Try this:
Quit all apps: Double tap the Home button and swipe the app preview page up for each open app
then
Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)

The WiFi antenna connector to the Logic Board is the small pop top connector that is last in order of all the Flex ribbon cables of the iPhone 4S, when working on the iPhone it is top right. It also has the small pressure plate on top, this pressure plated is held down by a screw that threads into the top of the screw below (stand-off screw). Reconnect this pop top connector carefully and perfectly to the Logic Board, put the small cover plate back perfectly, and then the screw.
