I have a second generation iPad that has started locking up frequently. What causes this
I have a second generation 32gb Ipad that has started locking up frequently. All updates are current. It is on IOS 7.06 A soft boot is required to restart. Over 9.0 gb memory remaining. Any known causes?
There are some bugs in iOS 7 that can cause problems. An update to 7.1 which is in Beta test make help increase overall stability.

I have an ipad that has been 'locked up' since 10 a.m. cent. time this morning! I cannot do anything to get it to shut off or reset. What do I need to do?
First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

I have a second generation iPad and can't clear the items in my update list. Is there a way to do this. I select them and it just says iS05 required
There is no way to clear the update notifications - unless you delete the apps completely from the iPad and from iTunes on your computer.
Obviously you want to continue to use the apps, so you either have to update the iPad and get the newer versions - or just ignore the update notifications. They will not go away. -
my iphone 4 is almost 2 years old and has started locking up. what do i do to get it working as it used to?
Have you tried: restarting, resetting, restoring?

I have a first generation IPad and it won't let me download unless I update to the new ios system. When I go to do that it won't let me do that either. What advise can you offer? Thanks
Maybe a little more info would be helpful. How are you trying to update the iPad? What model iPad it is and what version of the iOS is on it now?

My IPOD 30 GB classic has no sound. THis problem started last summer intermittently. THen in December it started playing again and did so for about 3 months without a problem. Again, recently the sound stopped coming from the ipod. I usually use a BOSE docking station that seems to be working fine. THe screen indicates that the songs are playing, but there is no sound, either thru headphones or on the docking station. I have reset, rebooted and restored and still no sound. What causes this to happen and is there a fix?
Which version of iTunes are you using?
What is the iPod software number as shown in the iTunes Summary windows?
If both the soundock and the earphone has no sound after the HardReset, then I think you Audio chip has been fried.
But please try this Hard Reset again
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
Test the sound again.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs

If it doesn't help, try Restore after the above.
Good Luck! -
I have an older generation iPad that I can't update what do I do
How do I update my iPad
A first generation iPad can't be updated past 5.1.1. If you need a newer iOS version, sell that iPad and put the money you get for it towards a newer device.

I am trying to download photos from my digital camera. I have done this many times before with this same camera; however this time when I click the "import all" button I get a message that states that the format is unrecognizable. It doesn't specify what the format is.
What is causing this and how do I correct it? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
AimeeMake a temporary, backup copy of the library and try the following:
launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
select the options identified in the screenshot.
Launch iPhoto and try importing again.

HT1270 Anyone have a MacBook Pro freeze with a beeping alarm sound. What caused this.
Just wondering what caused my MacBook Pro to freeze and have a loud alarm sound. I just installed new memory.
Reinstall the old memory and see if it goes away
If it does then the new memory is bad -
I also can not move any items on my desktop to another spot on the screen.
Holy cow!???
Here's an older cure I'd try...
First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive. -
If I have a second generation touch, is it compatible with the latest iTunes?
Okay ~ let me start by saying I am NO iPod expert, or anything even close . I have figured out I have a second generation touch that I haven't used in years. My son now wants to start listneing to music so I thought I would give him my iPod. I downloaded the latest iTunes on the lap top but it won't recognize the iPod. I have a brand new cable. So, a couple of questions:
Is it possible my cable is charging only and not a sync cable?
Is my second generation iPod just too old now?
Any helo anyone can offer would be appreciated! I've been troubleshooting and resetting and following online directions for days. I'm ready to throw it out the window and buy somethng new.
Thanks, in advance! The new iTunes is compatible with all model iPods.
It could be the cable

I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7 -
OK, so I have the 1st generation iPad. There is an AirPlay symbol, near the music symbol. Is this useless? If I enable it, what does it enable? And, what technological advances were made over the last 2 versions that have made my iPad 1, obsolete?
Thanks for the enlightenment!
JeffMy daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

For the past week or two, my Mac Mail app for my iPad 2 has been stuck in vertical orientation. This is the only app that is similarly affected. Moreover, it will only orient itself such that the bottom is toward the menu button on the iPad. Please advise if you have a solution.
Try closing the Mail app via the taskbar and see if it rotates when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
I have an IPad that has someone elses ID for the App store. How do I get rid of that so I can use my own?

I have an iPad that has one app that loads to only 72%. Apple tells me that the app is no longer available in canada but it has content that I paid for. How do I get the app to work again?
If it's not available in your country and you do not have a copy of it in iTunes backed up on your computer, you don't.
