I have a thick blue line running across my screen when click onto my apps how do I fix

How to fix

Sounds like a broken screen.  If you've tried Apple's basic troubleshooting steps (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) and the problem persists, bring the phone to Apple.

  • Why do I have a thin blue line running down the screen?

There is a thin blue line running vertically down my imac screen a little to the right of the centre. It disappeared for a while - i think after I tapped a certain key - but then re-appeared and will not go away. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Mark

Sounds like a problem with the display. Contact your local Apple Store or AASP and make an appointment to have the display looked at. > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

  • I have a thin horizontal line running across my screen about 1/4 of the way from the bottom of the monitor. Why is it there and how do I get rid of it?

There is a thin horizontal line running across the width of my screen about 1/4 of the way from the bottom. This line, along with an occasional vertical line about a 1/3 of the way from the right side of my monitor, started appearing about 7 days ago. Usually the line would disappear after a restart but now it seems intent on staying. Does anyone know what is going on and how can I resolve this?

  • My ipod has two thin black lines running across the screen. What causes this, and is there a fix?

Suddenly, my Classic ipod got two narrow, black lines runnings horizontally across the screen.  Will thes eventually go away or is the screen damaged?
    Thanks!

You can work through the remaining five 5 R's of troubleshooting.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

I have a thin blue line running down my 24" Cinema display, how can I remove it? or is it a fault.

It is a fault and the only way to fix it is to have the screen replaced.

  • Equium M40X: red lines running across the screen

I seem to be getting red lines running across my screen( from top to bottom) as i move my mouse.any idea whats wrong. ie is it the screen or something else.
i however connected it to a monitor and got the same problem so am presuming my screen fine.
maybe my graphic.and if so anybody with a solution or will i just have to dismantle it..
    thanks

Does this happen as Windows boots up or during the desktop??
It sounds like you graphics processor is defected to be honest I would only expect this problem to occur with LCD screens but as you said it happens using the external monitor.
Try changing your display modes to see if this has made any difference.

  • When I scroll up or down on my screen, black and grey lines run across my screen and next to the scroll bar. How do it fix it?

When I scroll up or down on my screen, black and grey lines run across my screen and next to the scroll bar. How do it fix it?

it is possible that zoom maybe enabled i think double taping with three fingers should disable it.
or you can go into settings>general> assessability> zoom and turn it off.
    hope this helps

  • , I have a thin blue line appearing on my screen that wasn't there before - what is it and how do I get rid of it?

I have a thin blue line appearing on my screen that wasn't there before - what is it and how do I get rid of it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
They are probably dead pixels or a signal of damaged GPU. If you can, connect an external display and see if the issue appears here.
In both cases, I suggest you to take it to an Apple Store or reseller. It doesn't look as a software issue, and your display or GPU have to be replaced

  • I have colored lines running across my screen, does this mean my computer is going to crash?

I have colored lines running across my display, is there anything I can do?

Run the Hardware Test in Extended mode. Disconnect all periperhals first. If you're running 10.6.8, you have an Intel Mac not a PPC.

  • Laptop suddenly had horizontal lines running across the screen

Suddeenly horizontal lines appreared across the screen .
I have shut down and started up the computer numerous times and it does not go away .
It also affects the graphics and text on the screen .
If I cannot fix should I have the computer cleaned and set back to factory standard and how do i do that /
    Thanks

    2 possibilities:
    1. The video chip (motherboard) has gone bad; or,
    2. Just the screen has gone bad.
Connect the computer to an external monitor and see if the lines appear on it. If so, it is #1.
It is doubtful that restoring the laptop to factory specs will have any effect on the isue either way but if you want to do that you can tap F11 as you power up to enter factory reset.

  • Iphone 5 cracked screen but worked fine for 7 months that have owned it, blue lines started appearing, now screen is black, but can still hear notifications HELP!!!

My iphone 5 was given to me by my sister in january, had a cracked screen, but has worked perfectly in the time i have owned it, recently it begain to have blue lines appear on the screen, but was still working, now screen is black and cant see anything, i know its on as i can hear all notifactions (messages, calls, emails etc) help please, whats wrong! can i still claim apple support, as i dont have warrenty papers?

There are no warranty papers, never have been for iPhones.
Take the device to Apple, an Out of Warranty replacement is $229.
Warranty does not and has never covered damage.  The device has suffered damage (cracked screen).

  • Randomly a blue bar scans across the screen when apps are open, how can I stop that?

After updating a blue bar scans across the screen. It does it in most of my apps and even when viewing my pix. This never happened before the latest update I installed. It's very annoying. Does anyone have an idea to stop this blue bar?

I have a very strong feeling that this has something to do with the government requesting the data of 5,000 apple customers. This blue bar scans my screen too coincidentally. While Im on my facebook messages, text messages, recent calls, even on snapchat. On the other discussion, people have cleared their whole phone and it still happens. Your best shot would be calling Apple

  • Blue line runs across screen but Skype (and other Andoid apps) crashes and doesn't open

The headline says it all really. I was forced to restore to an earlier saved version after problems associated with contacts. Amongst the many issues now is the inability to run adroid apps, whether ported on not. Not happy. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

Did you restore your phone with an OS of at least 10.2.1? Anything earlier than that will not run Android apps.
    Cheers.

  • What do you do if you have a thick black line going through your screen of your ipad mini ?

We have seen how much it would be to take it to the apple store and repair it and that would be £156 . Is there another way to fix it by ourselves ?!

    There are manuals here: https://www.ifixit.com/
However, doing  this repair by yourself will void any sort of warranty that might be left on your iPad Mini.
