I have a thin black line that appears on my iPad screen. Is my iPad defective?

It could be having issues. If that line appears across apps(as in in more than one app, and even when you're not in an app) , try resetting the device by holding down the home and sleep key, past the power down slider, and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if the line persists. If it does, your next stop should be the apple store and let them take a look at it. Issues with the display like that are often beyond simple user fixes.

  • I have small black lines that appeared after I exported from word to PDF. I can't remove them.

I can't edit/delete the black lines with content editing or form editing (they are not selectable, just like a line that was created in word prior to export), and when I tried to write a white line over it with a comment mark up, it does not show when opened with adobe.
Further, redaction with a white box erased nearby text or text boxes.
How can I white out/remove these small lines?
I'm using Yosemite OS X with a macbook pro, acrobat XI.
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
Could you please tell is that some specific file in which those black lines have appeared or are there any other files as well ?
You can try exporting another test file to PDF and compare the results .
Will it be possible for you to share the file with us so that we can analyze at our end ?If yes ,please share it on [email protected] .
You could also send us the screen shot of the files ( both after and before export) so that we can have a look how it looks and what is the method to remove those lines.

  • I have a thin black line across the middle of my iMac 24"

I have resored, still there.  any ideas?

Inverter cable, or board, or GPU.  Run the hardware test that came with your machine, it may detect something.  If you connect an external display, it may show on that, and if it does, then you know it has to do with the graphics chip itself.

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • , I have a thin blue line appearing on my screen that wasn't there before - what is it and how do I get rid of it?

I have a thin blue line appearing on my screen that wasn't there before - what is it and how do I get rid of it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
They are probably dead pixels or a signal of damaged GPU. If you can, connect an external display and see if the issue appears here.
In both cases, I suggest you to take it to an Apple Store or reseller. It doesn't look as a software issue, and your display or GPU have to be replaced

  • Thin black line appears when applying transition to material

Im editing in PremProCC and have a problem with the video transitions especially the wipe effect. When I apply the wipe to a cropped jpg and play it back a thin black line seems to appear around the edges of the jpg. I thought it might have something to do with rendering but the render bar reminds yellow when I apply the effect. It also in the exported version too. Any help I've never seen this before?

Hope you can see the thin black line  its more noticeable when it's playing back. Its just after the Bes/sy letters on the left had screen.

  • OJ Pro8000 thin black line appear when using photo paper but not regular paper

When using both my OJPro 8000 and my wife's OJPro8500, thin black lines appear every 7/8" on the paper when using photo paper.  This does not happen if I print on regular bond paper.

Anything?  It's only happening in Photoshop, other apps print fine.

  • Hey recently there has been a turquoise/red horizontal line that appeared on my screen. i turned off my ipod but it appeared after about 5 minutes...what do i have to do to get rid of it?

recently there has been a turquoise/ red horizontal line that appeared on my screen. i turned my iPod off but the line appeared again after about 5 minutes...how do i get rid it?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem that indicates that you have a hardware porblem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

What in the world is a "bait white A"?

  • In Reminders on IOS7 on IPAD a Black Line has appeared around line 17/18. I cannot enter more lines after this

A mysterious Black Line has appeared in one of my Reminder sections on the Reminders App on Ipad 4. It is around Line 17/18.
It does not at the moment appear on my iphone using the same app
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have the same problem, and have for many mounth now, searched for an alternative til iOS Reminders which can sync. to Exchange, but we cannot find one. We use Tasks in Outlook very much.
We have several iPad's with the problem, and we can not solve the problem.
Apple will NOT listen to us, they just say we have to restore the system, but it does not solve the problem!!
    Very frustating.
Now the Microsoft Surface 2 look, like a good alternative, and we will go in that direction. We cannot live with thi issue.
    Apple is NOT for bussiness.

  • Colorprints from LR show thin black lines at regular intervals | HP 8620.

Colorprints form LR show thin black lines ar regular intervals, I work with HP 8620 and the problem is not the printer because when I print the same image from Windos Photo Viewer the problem does not occur. However, I prefer to print from LR... See the attached images, one with blakck lines from LR and one without from WPV...
What to do? I tried to reinstall Lightroom 4.4 for maybe it has to do with the drivers. The thing is: I looked up all the regular problems and Q&A, but this is a unique problem. I do not want to keep printing from Windows Photot Viewer because LR gives me so many more opportunities for printing. But so far it coested me a lot of ink and paper and tyhe problems stays....
I would sure appreciate help from somebody,

Perre wrote:I'm used to being able to pick one or a couple of songs and then adding it a specified playlist. Is this impossible in sonata?
It's clearly not impossible, just different than you expect. Create your playlist as you want it to appear in the Current tab (meaning don't dump every single song from your library in there, just the ones you want) and then save the playlist.
Perre wrote:And if I try to play the m3u file created (the one with every song listed) through freevo I get a message that the directory is empty. What am I doing wrong??
Look at save_absolute_paths_in_playlists in your mpd.conf.

  • Thin Black Lines When Using Safari

Recently upgraded to Maverick and I noticed that when I use Safari I get thin black lines on the sides and bottom of safari. When I click on screen to go to finder lines disappear. Anyone else experiencing this? Not occuring with any other browser.

yeah, pic I uploaded is not great, you can see them a bit at the bottom. Should have made background white. Lines not showing up right now. Will wait till it shows up and repost a better pic.

  • Why do I have a thin blue line running down the screen?

There is a thin blue line running vertically down my imac screen a little to the right of the centre. It disappeared for a while - i think after I tapped a certain key - but then re-appeared and will not go away. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Mark

Sounds like a problem with the display. Contact your local Apple Store or AASP and make an appointment to have the display looked at. > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

  • Thin black line across Indesign CS4 doc exported to PDF

Hi ... am using Indesign CS4 on OS Windows XP and exporting docs to PDF (Acrobat 9 Professional) then printing on a HP Colour LaserJet CP2025.
I'm getting a thin black line across the bottom of the page when printing - it doesn't show up on the screen though.  The line sits 5mm above the bottom edge of the page and prints whether I have bleed set or not in Indesign.
Have tried toggling scaling, printer's marks settings, printer settings,Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional settings with no joy.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi all,
EUREKA!   Looks like it's finally fixed ...
One of my printer (HP Colour Laser Jet CP2025) has an advanced printer property, under printer features, called "Print Data Optimization" - this was set to "Auto" - I changed it to "Optimise for Text and Vector" and voila!  Thin black line has disappeared and I'm happily reprinting a bunch of documents ...
Thanks everyone for your advice and input - saved my sanity
    Sally
