I have a typical 720x480 sequence in final cut that i've exported as a quicktime movie. I put it in DVD studio pro 4, made a simple menu, but it never burns correctly. How do I burn a simple one video DVD that actually has reasonable quality?

I don't understand why burning DVDs has so many problems.

DVD SP gives you a lot of control over the DVD authoring process. But with that, you also have the ability to make a lot of bad discs. iDVD will lead you down a narrow path. It will always make a disc that plays, but you have very little control or customization. If all you want to do is make a simple DVD that plays, then you might be better off with iDVD.

MPEG Streamclip can convert a VIDEO_TS folder to other formats. Use "Open DVD" from its "File" menu and choose the VIDEO_TS folder.

Check the capture/scratch disc to make sure the media is still there. If it isn't your hard drive may be going bad. If it is, then you may have inadvertently cut part of the video from the Timeline or deleted it from the Browser.
As for the Command z issue, see how many levels of undo you have set in FCE preferences. Also keep in mind that Command z will not work if you close the project and reopen it.

Purchases using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID. Purchases are forever tied to that Apple ID used. You have to decide which Apple you want to use for purchases and stick to that Apple ID so that you can share: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID : > use the same Apple ID here to share purchases.

Yes, click on your video clip, then go to Effects Control. The box you see to the left of the word Motion activates the wireframes.

Final Cut Express Quits when exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2

I'm new Mac user and I'm trying to compress a movie from Final Cut Express HD when exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2 format when I do that Final Cut application quits.

I'm not sure how you can get to that point: I cannot even find MPEG2 in my list of compression types while exporting with QuickTime Conversion... (I have 31 of them, and QT 7 Pro installed).
In any case, if you want to make a DVD and have iDVD installed, you have simply to Export/QuickTime Movie (without conversion): iDVD will take care of compressing your movie for you before burning the DVD.

When exporting as a quicktime movie, final cut pro crashes about 3/4ths the way through the 12 hour process. I'm saving it to a La Cie 500 GB disc by fire wire. It's worked before but after I converted one SD sequence (that was shot in HD)to a HD sequence, I haven't been able to export it and it won't play straight at anything bigger than 25% size. Please if you have any advice I won't forget it. I'm trying to export as ProHD 1060i.

How do I add more than one video per track/layer?

Hi.
Could someone please advise me how I can add more than one video to a track/layer?
I'm cutting and pasting parts and each time I paste, a new track/layer is added.
The final video is going to be approximately 5 minutes long.
I am 17 seconds in and have 54 tracks already!
How do I stop this?

More video tracks. This is actually what you want.
Unless you're just making a still image (like Photoshop), multiple layers give you control to animate each individually. (If it's just a Photoshop comp you're after, you may want to create it in Photoshop)
If you want to move ALL OF THE VIDEO TRACKS TOGETHER, you can use
parenting or
precompose those individual layers into a single composition.

How to export a multitrack quicktime mov?

So I'm trying to export a multitrack quicktime movie, so that my clients on the other end can have all 6 audio tracks laid out on their end. I've tried assigning roles to each track, and exporting using the option (export as multitrack quicktime movie), but it always ends up collapsing all audio tracks into one single track.
Has anyone found a more reliable workaround for this?
Specs. FCPX 10.1.4, OSX 10.10.2

You have to set how you want the roles to be exported in the settings tab.
Use the "Add Audio Track" button to create as many audio tracks as you need, and use the popups to switch the roles on or off, as desired, per track.

Exporting sequence from Final Cut Pro 7, some clips are pixellated and bad quality, does this have anything to do with the fact that I changed those clips speed?

Bit of a beginner using Final Cut Pro 7
Am currently trying to export a sequence using quicktime conversion. Sequence has various filters and effects over it and when I export it some of the clips are pixellated and appear to have not exported correctly. From what I can gather the affected clips have either been slowed down or made faster. I am wondering whether this is the reason they have not exported correctly
Any help would be appreciated

fwiw - do not use quicktime conversion. Use Export Quicktime with Current Settings enabled then do any format conversions in Compressor.

How do I get from an HD sequence in Final Cut Pro to a regular DVD?

I'm finishing my first HD project, and I'm trying to get it onto a normal DVD, and I can't figure out how I should export it out of Final Cut and what settings I should use in DVD studio pro. I need the dvd to play on normal, couple year old dvd players.

You should export a master file from FCP using Current Settings (same as your Timeline) as a Self Contained or Reference movie -Self Contained is preferable as it creates a file that is independent of the source footage and render files.
Bring that into Compressor and choose one of the time based DVD settings that the duration of your movie will fit into. Import the resulting MPEG2 video and AC3 audio files into DVD SP.
