I have a weird thing going on.

My network preferences show that I'm connected online by ethernet... but I'm not. I'm connected via wifi from a time capsule. But Airport shows red, no connection.
I'm sending this over the wifi connection described. Bizzarre.
Any thougths?

If you have set your wired interface with fixed ip setting, that is your 'problem', to fix it click the ethernet interface and on the right hand side next to 'Configure IPv4' select 'Using DHCP' so when you do wire your network it will auto-detect.

Weird thing going on with Expose and Dock

Weird things have been going on with my Macbook Pro. It's been like this for several months and it's very annoying. What happened was that at some point during using computer, the dock and the expose will go on doing strange stuff together, for the dock, it's the magnification not working properly, when i move my mouse over any application icon, the magnification didn't come up, but if I click on it it will, however, after having clicked on the icon it will not doing the jump motion like it usually does, what it does is that it's going to stay being magnified, even if i point the mouse elsewhere. That's the dock. The problem with the expose is with the all window view, where when i turn it on everything seems to be normal, but if i move my mouse around, anywhere, each window that has been shown in the "all window" view will keep flashing until i dont move my mouse again. And that's the expose problem. Two other problems that occur along with the annoying issue mentioned earlier is that say when you click on the apple icon on the top, usually when you move down along there will be a blue stripe as a background to the words like "About this mac", "System preferences" etc, but when the problem occurs it will not do that. And if you have any window opened that has a scroll for horizontally, it'll keep forcing me to the right hand side of the bar, even if i drag it to the left it'll still go straight to the right hand side automatically. These are the problems that log-out-then-log-in won't resolve, needs to be restarted, i cannot work under this kind of situation, and it's getting really frustrating although i really like my mac still. I'm not sure when it started to do this, one time i thought maybe an application like p2p may disrupt the system so one time i only had calendar, itunes working still it happened again. I have a macbook pro A1226, has been updated to 10.5 and went through all the software update already... still... Does anyone have have the similar or maybe exact same problem as I do here? Please let me know. If you know how to fix it even better, I'd appreciate that. Thanks.

I have weird things going on in my calendar...

I opened my calendar to add something today, and noticed several (like 7) birthdays marked for people whom I don't even know. and when I click on the event, there is no edit/delete option, and it gives me a list of info on the people...one of them actually had an address. What the **** is going on?

On the event does it show you the calendar account its from? Should see the calendar option when you tap the event should show you where its coming from.

Weird things going on with Iphone

I updated to the most recent software the other day, it may be coincidence but now strange things have started to occur. Now it automaticlally goes into voice and sometimes starts to call people, it also will not charge and the home button barely works, it is now completely dead and will not recharge.

I also got the double banner, and the website looks different and how it is designed when accessed with Safari on my Mac. Not sure why it is doubled with some iPhones and not others.

Weird things going on in my phone?

My phone is an iphone 5s with IOS 8.1.2
When I first unlocked my iPhone 5s, all that appeared was my walla paper and the grey bar at the bottom. Except, there were no apps. Can someone please tell me whats going on? I tried restarting it but that didnt help. I also jail broke my iPhone about 30 minutes before using TaiG. Would that have anything to do with it?

Weird things going on with my contacts. Anyone else???

My phone lost almost all internet and phone signal after the last update. I took it in the the local apple store and they traded me a new phone for my old one. New phone still had 1.1.2 on it. Took it home, downloaded the new itunes, and did the sync to get 1.1.3.
After the sync, none of my contacts or calendar events showed up on my phone. My music and pictures were on it, but that's it. After syncing 10 or so more times over the weekend, and doing a restore, the calendar events showed back up on the phone. (By this time I had already reentered the contacts)
My question: Where is this info stored on my computer when I sync my phone? I've looked in outlook, nothing there. They MUST be somewhere, but I have no idea where to look, incase this ever happens again. I've been on the phone with Apple Care all weekend and no one I've talked with has been able to help.

The calendar data will only sync from outlook 2003 or 2007 on a windows computer.
If you do not have any calendar data in outlook it will not sync to the iphone.
However, if you had calendar data on your previous iphone, when you connect it to the computer, itunes does an automatic backup. So, if you did a restore, then restored from a backup of the previous iphone, this would have put the calendar data from the previous iphone onto the new iphone.
As a precaution, I would really think about syncing your iphone with outlook if you have calendar data on the iphone. This way you can back your contacts and calendars to outlook. As long as you are running outlook 2003 or 2007.

I have a weird flicker going on.

I have a shape I created. It's an "S". The font style is impact. The letter is huge. I'm actually panning over it with the camera.
The camera start up very close on the top part of the "S" moves down and then pulls out to reveal the actual letter.
The animation plays fine. The "S" looks good.
I have some video footage I want the "S" to stencil.
I put the video footage and the "S" in the same space in the motion canvas. I group the two items. I have the S over the top of the video footage in my layers. I set the blend mode to Stencil luma. The letter is 100% white. Everything looks OK from a distance.
However, when I play the animation the "S" stencil flickers on and off at certain times for no reason I can find. There is no animation other than the camera. There are no keyframes, no behaviors. If I change the color blend mode back to normal the animation plays fine and my video footage simply looks like a big white S over the top of my video.
Any ideas. I would really like to use that **** S as a stencil.

OK. I've been playing around and I can definitely use some help.
Here was the goal.
Create a money symbol "$" have all sorts of different money symbols coming out of it as a particle animation. Sort of like a black hole/nebula/vortex of currency symbols.
I did a little test but it's a real pain working on it because of all the particles.

The flicker is there at the beginning as you are flying through all the particles. The particles literally disappear for 1 frame here and there. I am stumped.
Would love some help as it's very close to working.

Weird thing going on with fresh KDE install

It looks like I am getting X11 and KDE mixed up. Don't really know what I am looking at but I can't close these windows or do much with them. Weird things happening on this Mac Mini

Hey all,
Got an intel mac mini with tiger on it. We have some weird things going on here.
There is a black box that floats around and on most occations it goes around what his highlighted. I tried to see if this was an accessability option, but couldnt find anything on it.
Also, in the Apple menu, i have 2 restarts, 2 shutdowns, & 2 logouts.
Any clue on whats going on?

in order to fix the duplicate problem you have to reset the launch service database. Download Cocktail, OnyX or Tiger Cache Cleaner, they should fix it for you.

I have tried direct connecting the iphone 4, via wifi, everything. I hate itunes with a passion, but it seems to be a necessary evil. I dont know why I would have no trouble with my iphone 3. I am using the same technique for both phones. Find the music I want in the library and drag it to the iphone. Works on IOS 6, not IOS 7.
WHat else should I try?

If you are having issues dragging music to your iPhone 4 after a recent upgrade to iOS 7, you may want to verify that the phone is still set to "Manually manage music and videos." You may find the following article helpful:

Quirkey things going on!

Weird stuff going on! FCPro 4.5 HD 1.8 ghz PC G5 1gb ddr sd ram
OSX 10.3.9
Little odd things are starting to happen. When I set an in and out point on the timeline and try to export as a QT movie, it begins the process and then gives an "operation not allowed" error. However, the movie does appear in the folder and everything works fine! This is random... sometimes it works with no error. I think it usually happens when there are more layers of video. The other thing that has just begun to happen is with my freeze frame. I select a frame from the time line or canvas and tell it to make a freeze. It freezes a blank page. I have been making freeze frames for 4 years so I know how to do it. If it doesn't freeze a blank screen, it gives an error that "there is no video". I have clicked on the canvas screen just before I make the freeze. The "blank" that it freezes just shows the checkerboard background in the viewer.
One more quirkey thing is yesterday I had the viewer showing the "motion" page. When I clicked back to the "video" page, it kept the motion page info in the video window. Then it finally just showed all grey in the video page. I restarted the computer and it was okay.
Is my system getting ready to crash and burn?
My main hd has 30 gigs open and the secondary has 20 left open. I repair permissions often.
Anybody seen this before?

With the BIG caveat, that nothing else is failing, often corrupted preferences in FCP yield odd and aggravating operation.

Weird thing buying on iTunes.

Yesterday I lost my credit card so I cancelled it.
Today I bought a song and a music video on itunes with that credit card because I forgot I had cancelled it and the transaction went through and they got downloaded.... Now this is weird so I called to check if it had been cancelled and indeed it had been. I also checked my bank statements online and nothing was there about the purchases.
So my question is, how can this have happened?

My guess is that the next time you try to buy something from Apple--you're going to have some problems. I would make sure my new credit card information was attached to my account and I would explain this dilemma to Apple. (And you need to pay for these things you just bought!)
Or, you can wait until you try to make your next purchase and find out things no longer work.
Sometimes it takes awhile for the credit card company to refuse canceled credit card purchases--the card holder isn't inconvenienced (lucky you!), but the supplier (Apple in this case) trying to redeem a sale on the account gets dinged. Be warned, when this happens to a merchant, they remember you! You may have problems fixing things! Good luck!

Weird stuff going on with my iPhone 4: losing settings, "set up your phone"

I've had the iPhone since the 3G unit including the 3GS. I've had my iPhone 4 since 6/24 and all of a sudden in the last couple of days, I've been experiencing some weirdness I have never seen before in my iPhones.
A couple of days ago, I noticed that the battery percent meter was simply turned off. I did NOT turn it off. It was just simply off now.
Today, I synced my iPhone to iTunes 9.2 at home and the sync went fine. I realized right after the sync that I had purchased some music and didn't "Transfer purchases" (don't ya just hate remembering you forgot to do something just AFTER you unplug your iPhone! ).
Anyway, I unplugged and plugged it back in. iTunes now showed a "Set Up Your Phone" screen and offered to restore a backup. Huh?! The weird thing is that the name of my iPhone 4 showed up correct in the device list AND iTunes was wanting to restore a backup of the same name.

I rebooted my Windows 7 64-bit PC and tried it all again. Same results. I then thought, I wonder if rebooting the iPhone 4 will fix the issue. I tried that. Same results.

Okay, I guess I'll let it restore the backup. I just went through that (takes about 7 minutes) and things are great now.
Is that weird or what?! Never seen anything like that before. Is my iPhone 4 going bad?

MacBook won't turn on 98% of the time, help! Very weird things happening!

Hi there, any advice you have for me would me much appreciated. What happened with my Macbook is all very strange.
So, the morning before last, I was on my Macbook (which I bought in 2006 so it's on the older side, but otherwise worked great) and it was running low on battery. I was late for work so didn't plug it in before leaving. I left it open. However I have no roomates, pets, etc.
When I get home that evening, I plugged in the powercord and it wouldn't turn on. After trying a million different things, like taking the battery out, reseting the PRAM, etc, there were a few times where I got it to turn on, went through the log on screen, and was able to use my computer like normal for about 5 minutes or so, and then it would just shut off.
There were also many times when I would pres the power button and the screen would flash like it was about to turn on, and then it would make the noise that the computer makes when you're typically on 0% battery and it shuts down. Later in the night, when the computer was closed but plugged into the power outlet, it was by itself (meaning I wasn't pressing anything) making the noise that it was restarting. It made that noise about every 30 seconds for a few minutes. Weird.
It was also doing inconsistent things re: the sleep light. At times it was on, including when the computer was closed, and sometimes it would go from on to off. Also, the battery/charing was doing weird things. The few times I was able to get past the log in screen it showed that it was at 0%, even though the light on the adapter was green and it had been plugged in for a long time. Another time the battery icon had an X through it. I have 2 different batteries and neither one of them seemed to make a difference.
Also, yesterday I brought my computer into the Apple store and they put in a battery that was charged and it didn't seem to make a difference either. One more weird thing: when I did get the computer on in the spotlight bar it said it was indexing??
Anyways, I'm just confused/upset, etc. because I literally did nothing to the computer. I didn't drop it/spill on it, etc. I'm also frustrated because the guy at the genius bar litteraly only spent like 5 minutes looking at before he said i was SOL. He said it was the "main board" that was the problem. One of the things like I'm just confused by is if the main board really does need to be replaced, then how was I able to get the computer on and working those few times???
Sorrry this is so long, any help would be awesome!! I just don't have the money to buy a new computer, and I'm not sure it will be worth it for me to pay $300 to have it fixed when my computer's already pretty old and other things haven't been working for awhile (like my disc drive, camera). THANK YOU!!!

the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

Weird things happen in Edit view...

Some (but NOT all)of my photos do weird things when you Double-Click them to get into Edit view. Most of my photos zoom in to their appropriate sizes and are viewed 'normally', however, other photos initially come up in their normal zoomed size then in a second of two, zoom in again several times larger than they should be, and the colors will pop your eyes out, like a reverse negative or something and the photos gets all 'chunky' or 'blocky'. Fortunately, only a small number of my photos zoom in wildly like this.
Anyone seen this, have a clue what causes it and most importantly, can it be fixed to STOP doing this?

Well, I used to see this problem way back in the v7 days of the purple app. It's not an FCP exclusive problem, though I have seen it happen one time with Final Cut.
