I have a white square on my screen

I just noticed there is a white square on my screen that I can't get rid of.
It could have taken me a whilte to notice, as many of the screens I am looking at have a white background.
Can I get rid of it, or is it a fault?

Small white square appearing on screen

Yesterday I was looking at my iPhoto pictures and every picture had 2 small white squares appear on the screen which I tried to edit. Only to find this morning I now have one white square appearing on the Mac book pro screen. I cannot get rid of it.
Please can anyone advise me how to remove it and what is causing it?

all makes perfect sense... except I cannot for the life of me find any reference in Apple docs to the tick mark box as being an on screen indicator of display mode - you may have indeed found an anomaly though - look at the similarity to the tick boxes in this image from > Frequently asked questions about using a Retina display - Apple Support
I'm noticing functional or visual issues with an application. How can I make it work better?
Try opening the application using Low Resolution mode:
Quit the application if it is currently open.
etc........
This, I'm afraid, will remain one of Life's Great Mysteries... when troubleshooting, one thing at a time is imperative to detect that issue that is the fix.

HT4623 I have a white square in the middle of my apps screen, and I am unable to search for new apps.

I am unable to search for new apps because I have a blank white square in the middle of the Apps screen.

Have you tried a reset (different from just restarting)
Hold down on both the Home button AND the Sleep/Wake button for about 10 seconds until you get to the black screen and see the Apple logo. Then let go of both buttons. This "reset" fixes a lot of weird iPad issues and might fix yours.

White square on iphone screen

I recently started seeing a white square on the top left corner of the screen while unlocking or opening or closing apps. Has anyone else seen this issue? It's happening on the 5s and also on the 5.

Hello, I have the same problem. With Iphone 5S when I open an App, sometimes, not always, emerges a flash light on the top right corner of the screen. It last only half a second but it *****. I went to Apple Store, and in the Genius Bar they took a look, said they didn't know the problem, but I insisted and they changed the Iphone for free. At home, the new Iphone 5S does the same.

Why does the cursor have a white square beside it?

I use adobe professional to edit powerpoint slideshows that have been converted to pdfs. On certain slides some strange things happen. The cursor appears with a tiny white square to the right side of it, I cannot click on images, using the edit text and images function, and I can start a text box, but the text that I type is invisible. The application also often crashes on these slides (though I find Adobe Pro to crash ridiculously often anyway). I tried to take a screenshot but the cursor wouldn't show up.
I would like to figure out how to make these pages editable so that I can make notes on them.

I tried converting a pptx file to pdf and when I try to edit I am unable to view any such square box.
What version of PowerPoint and Acrobat are you using? Have you tried updating Acrobat to the latest patch and checked?
Is the issue replicable on other files as well or specific to this file?

There are white squares on my screen at the top. Apple care is telling me I'm out of warranty. This seems like an Apple LCD screen issue. The problem seems to be widespread. How is apple dealing with this. apple care told me it would cost me 260.00

Apple should be fixing this problem for free. It is a hardware issue. Check the Web. A lot of your customers are having the same problem. If I have to spend money to fix this I will be choosing a different cell phone provider

That the problem has happened to someone else, or even to a couple of dozen people, does not make it a "widespread problem". Apple has sold millions of iPhones, so even if hundreds have experienced the problem that's still a very small failure rate.
Your iPhone is out of warranty, so you will need to pay for service. If Apple finds this to be a screen issue, in many Apple Stores they can replace the screen for US $149. If it's not a screen issue or your local Apple Store can not yet replace the screen, then Apple replaces the entire iPhone. Those are their policies, and complaining about it, particular here in these user-to-user forums, will accomplish nothing.
You are free to pay some unauthorized shop to attempt repair, or attempt your own repair, if you wish, though you will void any further support from Apple, for any price, if you do.
There is nothing more anyone here can tell you.

If your MacBook is still under warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan they would cover repair.
Contact Apple using expresslane.apple.com if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or service provider.

White square on screen and taskbar

I have a white square that appears on my screen and also noted on the taskbar. When I right click on the square on the task bar it shows "FreeRide Games Application". I don't have FreeRides Games as a downloaded program. I don't know how to get rid of this...please help and Thanks

Black and white squares

Hello everyone,
I was on my mac browsing the internet and all of a sudden BIG black and white squares on my screen and this very loud noise so i had to force the computer to shutdown. can anyone please shed some light on this, is there something wrong with my mac its the first time its happened.

Yep. That's what they call "artifacts." In fact, it seems a textboox case of an overheating GPU:
"A common form of serious GPU artifact is a checkerboard pattern which covers the entire screen." (http://www.playtool.com/pages/artifacts/artifacts.html)
Do you hear the fan running? Try downloading an app like smcFanControl to speed up the fan. The noise you heard the first time could have been the fan going full speed OR the fan breaking --which in turn could have caused the logic board to overheat.
Placing the mini on a metal surface or on a laptop stand --preferably one with a fan-- may also help, at least for now.
Ideally, though, you should take the mini to the Genius Bar or an Apple certified technician.

GTX 570 M2D12D5 Freeze with White Squares...artifacting.

Card: MSI 570 GTX (N570GTX M2D12D5/OC)

Randomly when I play games, the screen freezes and a bunch of white squares paint the screen. Oddly it only occurs during games and not anytime else. I ran a stress test with Folding@Home, Attitool, and Furmark each for at least 1hr and I didn't notice any artifacting. However when I play a game, Brink, World of Tanks, etc for like 30mins - 50mins I get a freeze with checkerboard like white squares in a checkerboard pattern. Sadly the only fix is to restart so I can't get a screenshot. I just got and built this rig like 2 weeks ago and it has been running fine until now and I have no Idea what it is. Initially I thought it was overheating but with the tests the gpu is 46 c idle and 87 c max. Is it the card or possibly my ram?
Rest of my computer:
Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)
Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
4GB DDR3 Ram
MSI P67A-G43 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s

The lack of information, feedback, confirmation, etc that apple is famous for is exactly why I am deathly afraid of ordering the new 17" mbp. I have been stealing my girlfriends' peecee to catch up on emails and websites since I sold my old 15" mbp a couple months ago.
I was just about to pull the trigger and buy the new 17" mbp until the "delay", again no specific information given out by apple. Some people were charged secondary charges and had ship dates of the day of the announcement of the delay - which would logically dictate that there were plenty of machines that had to be un-packed, cracked open and "updated". So with all the unibody related issues, all the 9600 related issues, and all the screen issues of the 15" led, I am not sure i'll be able to play guinea pig for apple... yet again...

It's difficult to say whether it's stuck or not as the time to restore a backup can depend on many factors. You'll have to decide when you think it's just not continuing. You could try turning the phone off (hold the power button until you see the red off slider, then slide to turn off), then back on to see if that would get it going again.
When you're convinced it's just hung, you can go back to settings and tap Stop Restoring iPhone to stop the restore. You'll then have to try restoring it again (Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup). Be sure it's connected to your charger and wifi while it's restoring the backup.
You might also try the approach posted here by ezjules: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589. This seems to have worked for some people who had trouble restoring their photos from an iCloud backup.

Touch doesn't respond and white squares have appeared

Dear all, PLEASE HELP. The touch on my iPhone 5s doesn't work anymore, and white squares have appeared on the bottom of the screen. I have tried to restart the phone several times (Home/Start buttons combination) but it doesn't help. I can receive phone calls but I can't answer at all. The touch suddenly stopped working for no legitimate reason. please help!
