I just started a new job and was given a old I phone 5c, the old employee is no longer around and I need to get into I cloud and get all his face book contacts off the phone, how do I reset the phone if that is what I have to do

If the old employees ID is still signed onto iCloud and Find My iPhone is turned on, then you have an Activation Locked device that is, essentially, unusable. Give it back to your employer and ask for a device that is not Activation Locked, or have them contact the former employee to get the Activation Lock removed:

Well, it appears that your backup is corrupt, thus causing your issue. So, you'll have to restore as a new device, & not from backup. Follow this by syncing your content back to your phone:

Try restoring from the backup created at the beginning of the sync process:
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes, go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Connect your phone, right-click on the name of your phone when it appears on the left sidebar in iTunes
Select Restore from backup, choosing your most recent backup to restore from
Disconnect your phone and confirm that your photos are back
Go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and re-enable automatic syncing.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

If when you go to icloud.com and sign in with your current iCloud ID you see all your iCloud data there, you can safely sign out of the iCloud account on your Mac and choose Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the current ID. This only deletes the data from your Mac, not from iCloud. Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in after a brief delay as it redownloads. If you have automatically imported your photo stream photos to your iPhoto library you won't lose them either (if you haven't, save them to your library first).
Again, only do this if when you go to icloud.com with your current ID you see your iCloud data there.

You would need to be able to login to your iCloud account at www.icloud.com in a web browser that supports the iCloud web site.
Your iPhone must have the same iCloud account set up on it, with the find my iPhone setting enabled, for it to be trackable in iCloud.

Only your cell carrier can block an iPhone from connecting to their network; you'll need to call them. There's no way to permanently block an iPhone from being used.
If you set up the Find My iPhone service prior to your iPhone going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPhone is turned on, connected to either the 3G or a WiFi network, or has not had the Find My iPhone service disabled or the iPhone been completely restored). If you did not set up Find My iPhone, then there is no way to track it. Contact the police and your carrier and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPhone (the iTunes Store, for instance).
