Zen Micro Media Explorer not working

Recently I purchased a new PC. winxp. My zen worked just fine on my old PC. I installed my zen and the media explorer. When I launch the Zen Micro Media Explorer everything is grayed out. I cant click on anything. Windows media explorer shows my zen, but the Zen Micro Media Explorer is just all gray. I have FW version .3. I figued I would upgrade the FW and when I try upgading, it says the zen is not plugged in. I need to edit my playlists and I cant get into the media explorer. help!

I'm having exactly the same problem with my Creative Zen Touch 40 gB - a couple of months ago I had to re-instal windows and manage to re-install MediaSource and all the Audigy and Creative Zen drivers and they all worked together nicely. I've now upgraded the motherboard and processor, re-installed windows and cannot get mediasource to see my device. I've tried intslling the plays-for-sure software suite and it says it can't see my device and to check that the firmware is updated to PFS devices, which it is. I've tried the updated drivers, updated mediasource, uninstalled the device and re-installed it and nothing works. I'm running Windows XP Professional which has been updated with all the critical updates and also runs Media PLayer .
I know this doesn't help the previous poster, but if anyone else can help, that'd be fab.

My ZEN Micro screen is not work

nothing shows up on the screen no matter what i tried so far. it still plays to music, because its already was on a play list. everything else works, you just cant see anything on the screen what so ever. how do i fix this?

Zen Micro - Unknown album not showing

I have a Zen Micro with firmware 2..02.
I'm having a problem with songs that do not have an album in the ID3 tag not visible on the Zen Micro. I select Music Library, then Artists, then the artists I'm interested in. The songs that I know I downloaded that do not have an album name (as verified by WMP0) do not show up. Under the old firmware ..0 these would show up under Unknown.

I had a lot of songs that I didn't want named by the album because they were all different - and searching through a million albums each with one song is such a pain. I just tagged them all under the album name "misc" (for miscellaneous) to keep them all together. It's a bit of a workaround, I guess, but it's pretty easy to mass tag them that way.
On my Micro (with the v2 firmware) the albums not labeled don't show up under the album list, but do show up if I search under the artist list.Message Edited by OSUScooby on 09-08-2005 02:26 AM

I do have the most updated firm ware on my Micro. What I was wondering though is the ForSure firm ware different from the Micro firm ware?

The firmware that you got (v firmware) is different than the PlaysForSure firmware (v2 firmware). The v2 firmware allows you to use subscription services, such as Napster To Go, where you can download and unlimited amount of songs and you get to keep playing them as long as you keep paying your monthly fee for it. Stop paying your fee and your music stops playing.
It also supports Audible Audiobooks, if your into hearing someone read a book back to you.
And it also allows you to use your player only on Windows XP machines running Service Pack or 2 and Windows Media Player 0, without having to install any drivers or Creative software.

Creative Zen Micro "Device is not connect

When attaching MP3 player to my PC the Creative software does not start automatically and when I try to drag music files on to MP3 player get message "The device is not connected". When I try to install MP3 player get the following message "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28). To reinstall the drivers for this device, click reinstall driver". When I click on this option (reinstall driver) get the following message "Windows was unable to locate the software for this device".
I appear to have loaded the software that enables us to transfer tracks from a CD but cannot then get these across to the MP3 player as the PC does not recognise the device. However, when I loaded the software I did get the following message during the installation process "An error occurred while setting up the driver. Setup Nomad Jukebox 2,3,Zen, Zen NX, ZenXtra, Zen Touch and Zen Micro Driver". Not sure if this is related to the MP3 player not being recognised by the PC.
Downloaded driver "JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE from Creative site but did not appear to help situation.
My PC is a Dell Dimension 400, OS Windows Millennium, Pentium 933Mhz, 256MB memory.
Would appreciate any help.

Zen Micro: how many are working proper

I bought a Zen Micro for my daughter for Christmas and finally sent it back because it was having the docking problems. I have reguarly read the messages in this forum since then, waiting for an indication that the problem has been fixed. I have read many ideas of what is causing it, from USB ., USB 2.0, usb cables, full battery charge, etc., but no consistent solution. I have also read many posts in which people say most are not having any problem.
So, my request is, if you have a Zen Micro, and you have had no problems at all, please post a message with when you bought yours, and the firmware and software you are using. Thanks a lot for your help. I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth it to take a chance again. I don't want an Ipod with $00 non-user replaceable batteries.

Bought my dark blue Limited Edition in mid-December from Amazon.com. I first charged the unit before doing anything else and it hung up upon completion of that first charge. Removed and replaced the battery and have had no further hangs of any sort. I upgraded to .0.03 right away and am still there. I mostly load music by syncing with WMP 0 and even without the MTP support it works fine for me. I also use Notmad Explorer occassionally to manipulate playlists. It works fine too.
My only problem is I cannot reliably use the touch pad. I'm always selecting the wrong thing or skipping over what I want. Since I love everything else about the ZM, I'm living with the touch pad. I have tried both low and high sensitivity settings and it seems to work slightly better at the high setting.
I haven't actually timed my battery life, but I'm guessing I'm getting somewhere around 8-0 hours playing WMA at 96kbps with Smart Volume off and only occassional use of EQ. I usually disconnect the headphones when the unit is turned off, but I don't know if that changes anything. I try to run the battery quite low (no bars or low battery warning) before a full charge, but I do let it charge for a while sometimes while its connected to the USB port on the PC.
Unlike some, I have been very pleased with the FM radio. I get good reception even at work in my ground floor office of a mostly metal building. That's with the stock earphones.
I started out using USB ., but added USB 2.0 to my computer (Windows XP SP2) and had no trouble with either. I have not seen the problem some have reported about problems when the battery is fully charged.
One last thing... I have 697 songs on my ZM, with about 2.8 GB of free space.

Try this:
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

That would be it. Sometimes you can tweak the album & artist names enough for iTunes to download matching art from the store, or you could add a bonus track featuring 1 second of silence and attach artwork to that, or you could convert the files to Apple Lossless.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

I'm going to assume that since you deleted your hard drive and all its files, you had a backup, yes? If the backup has an OS (bootable clone), then you can boot into it by holding down the option key when you start up you iMac and choose the backup drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to copy the files back to your iMac.

No Japanese carrier provides unlocking services. Therefore, your phone must have been hacked to unlock it. That hack was removed when you updated the software. You need to be a legitimately unlocked phone.
