I have Acrobat 6.0 Professional, Windows 7 Question

I have Acrobat 6.0 Professional.
I have Windows 7, 64 bit.
Will my Acrobat 6.0 still work on Windows. If not, Can I upgrade it.
I only need to rarely to change a PDF file into a MSWord file.
Please Advise me the best and most economical route.

Hi ,
As Acrobat 6 is a pretty older version and it is certainly not be compatible with Windows 7 .
You are unfortunately not eligible for an upgrade as you are on Acrobat 6 .
Upgrade is only available for users that are either on Acrobat 10 or Acrobat 11 .
The best option would be to opt for Acrobat DC .It is loaded with new features and would simplify your work .

I have Adobe Acrobate 7.0 Professional, loaded onto a new Dell Inspiron N5010 clone where I have Windows 7. I installed the Acrobat successfully, but the virtual printer does not show up as an available printer in my Devices & Printers. Also when I click on the desktop icon for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, I get these error messages: There was an error while loading the plug-in 'Accessibility.api'. I did however get a message which I had gotten before but since I was not yet aware that the program got installed with any problems, I had not noticed... This time I took notice. The error message was clearly what it is about, at least to a great extent. I got this message: Warning 20225: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Setup was unable to create a new item: Adobe PDF Port Printer may be unavailable. GetLastError: The operation completed successfully. So then after the reinstallation, I went into Control Panel, Printers & Drivers and made a valiant attempt to manually install a virtual printer port. I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional installed in another computer on which I have Windows XP Pro (yes the only other computer-- I am permitted two installations for this program-- I confirmed this with Adobe), by looking at Properties and copying down exactly the text, etc. which described the names of the two possible ports, etc. Tried to "tell" my new computer (the one which has Windows 7) that it should set up and/or look for such a virtual port, again to no avail. I am amazed that Adobe does not allow me to even pay cash money for tech support, but they wouldn't do it. I guess you can have just so many employees who know the programs, etc. Anyway, as I said before I may just break down and buy the 9.0 version which the Adobe techie told me is indeed compatable with Windows 7. He did not tell me that Windows 7 was incompatible with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional but that 8.0 is indeed incompatible. Just googled the term "Warning 20225" along with some relevant buzz words. I can see there is still a bit of tweaking I may be able to do before I cry "uncle!"

Acrobat X Standard/Professional form features question

According to an announcement by RIM on April 2011:
“The highly-anticipated BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will ship with Adobe Reader X for high-quality and fast viewing of rich content through the ubiquitous PDF. PlayBook users will have access to advanced features in Adobe Reader including Touch-based gestures for efficient navigation and zoom in the PDF,..." Are any of these advanced features (such as touch-based gestures) available in form fields (such as buttons) as events in Acrobat X Professional or Standard?

We are still purchasing OEM licenses, and I am trying to create standard PC images with Adobe Acrobat X Standard pre-installed. I just want to be able to bring the image down to a machine and then just pop in the serial number without having to install.
If you know of a way this can be done -or- how to install Standard in a trial state, please share.

Free (?) upgrade because Acrobat 7.0 professional won't install in Windows 7

I have Acrobat 7.0 Professional running under Windows XP pro with no problem. I understand from user forums that this version does not run under Windows 7. Does Adobe offer me a free upgrade to a version compatible with Windows 7 or am I forced to buy yet another piece of software from Adobe in order to be able to use Acrobat under Windows 7 ???

I have been able to install the disc but it tells me that I have to activate it with a time limit of 30 days and counting. Activation fails each time I've tried. As I'm nearing the end of the time limit I decided to contact Adobe for advice. They gave me a download package and new serial number but it's only suitable for OS XP and Windows 2000 so I'm unable to download it. I was told by the advisor if I still had problems to use the forum as a means of support so that's why I'm talking to people here.
I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobate Pro 7, so I might try reinstalling the disc to see if it gives me another 30 days grace, that, at least, would be a way around it.
I'll now follow the link you've given me. Though I do suspect I'm in a bit of a cul de sac.

Can I make PDF from xlsx file with Acrobat 8.0 professional?

I'm using Windows 7 Professional (32-bit OS) with Microsoft Office 2007 Basic and have Acrobat 8.0 Professional. Newly installed on replacement computer (deactivated and reactivated license). Don't see PDF icon in any Microsoft Office software. Got great help in getting 8.0 added as a printer devise at SevenForums.com. But when I try to print (since I don't see the PDFMaker icon I'm going via PRINT), it gives me an "Error Printing" message. That got me to thinking and wondering if I can create a PDF using 8.0 Pro to convert these new style MSO file tags (xlsx, docx, and such)? When I tried to UPDATE, message said "There are no updates available at this time." I really don't want to update Pro to the 8.3 anyway mainly because when I had previously updated to 8.3, stuff just got a bit whacky. Any suggestions? Thanks for feedback.

Thank you Dave and Bill for feedback. I know that I'm using older technology with newer technology but for now that's what I've got to work with. I knew Acrobat would eventually stop supported AA8, so I've saved various update patches throughout the years. My earliest is AcrobatUpd814_all_incr.msp. Wondering if I can get earlier upgrade patch because am getting the below error message. Also, via periodic backup's I've noticed that I do have a lot of *.rtp (A_AcroForm_api_811.rtp and M_ACROBATPROFESSIONAL_8_0_HOMEPAGE_html4_810.rtp). Can I use this some how if I cannot find the earlier upgrade patches? Thanks, I know long shots.

Can i download reader XI w/o it overwriting my acrobat 7.0 professional

i have acrobat 7.0 professional and everytime i've downloaded a version of reader, it overwrites my acrobat 7.0 professional. is there a way to download reader XI and keep my acrobat 7.0 professional intack?

I doubt that Adobe Reader "overwrites" Acrobat, but it may disable some things.
Acrobat and Reader were not a supported combination on the same OS until Acrobat X and Reader X.

22020134.exe is the file Adobe say you must download and run to instal Acrobat 7.0 Pro. I went through the process, the one described in your link, I downloaded the file, ran it, it runs well, except it tells me my serial number is invalid. Now what? Does this mean I now have to discard my Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and start again with a $500 purchase? All I want to do is transfer what I have to another computer.

To expand on this, the PDF creation aspect of Acrobat had to be updated to deal with changes in the Windows spooling system (for the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance) as well as to support 64-bit versions of Windows.

What is "Adobe XI" - Reader, or Acrobat?
But either way, 'Save as Adobe PDF' is a Word function, independent of what Adobe software you have installed.

Adobe acrobat 7.0 professional installed on windows 8

With the assistance of Adobe Chat I have downloaded adobe acrobat 7.0 professional to my desktop which has windows 8. Everything works beautifully except when I go on to internet explorer and try to view a pdf document. It says "This page can't be displayed". Yes, I successfully installed Acrobat 7.0 professional on Windows 8. I’m now able to create pdf files on my Microsoft Office Suit (Word & Excel) and anytime I need to add/extract pages, etc. in these pdf files I’m able to use 7.0. My only problem was opening pdf’s on my internet explorer. I downloaded the latest version of Adobe reader and now everything works great (for my needs). I now have the choice of opening my pdf files (In “Documents”) in either 7.0 or reader, depending if I want to just read the document or work with it. I have no need to create pdf files with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 because saving documents in pdf format is a built-in feature of my Microsoft Office suit software (which is great)

Adobe no longer supports the installation and use of Acrobat 6 as it is a very old version which is not compatible with Windows 7.
I would suggest you to please use the latest version of Acrobat i.e. 11.0.10 which is fully compatible with your OS with its enhanced features and functions.
