  • Acrobat X Pro install package does not remove Adobe Reader X

I am using the Adobe Customization Wizard X to deploy our Acrobat X Pro install. In the transform I have both options checked to removed previous versions of Acrobat and Reader.
The only version of Reader that does not get removed is Reader X. Has anyone else run into this? I've had version 8 and 9 get removed, but any system that has Reader X, keeps it, and Acrobat X Pro get's installed as well.
I understand Adobe will support that configuration, but I'd prefer to have just one PDF reader
    Any input is appreciated

Same problem in our environment. It seems, that Reader X is not understood as an old or minor version as it was in previous versions and therefore, both, Acrobat X and Reader X can coexist on a machine.

  • PDF files used to open with a "save" option, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on my system (running Windows 7). Now, that icon is gone and I can't save. Is there another way to configure the plug-in or is Firefox preventing this or what? THANK YOU.

this is a new problem. Running Windows 7, latest update of Firefox 3.6.13. Under "Applications", I'm set to "open Adobe Acrobat inside Firefox" (which is what I have always done, then if I wanted to, I saved the PDF file elsewhere). should I/ can I open the PDFs outside Firefox, with my Adobe 9 Pro program?

    ■ Use '''Tools -> Options -> Applications ->''' <br> then look under content for Adobe Acrobat forms etc;
<br> note a choice of options is usually available
    * see [[Options window - Applications panel]]
Firefox is of course a web browser. <br>Acrobat reader is Adobe's program used to read and display the pfd files on your computer. Other programs may be used instead of Acrobat reader. You would normally have the Acrobat program and the pdf file present on the local computer, often both on the same hard drive, if you were opening individual pdf files directly with Acrobat.
Firefox uses a plugin so that it may use Acrobat to open pdf files and display the results within a firefox window or tab. If you do not have that plugin installed, or it is not enabled firefox may be unsure what to do with the file and offer to save it to whatever your default local download location is, without attempting to open the file in firefox.

  • If I have Acrobat 9 Pro, do I need to keep a current version of Adobe Reader?

I'm trying to reduce the amount of extraneous stuff on my hard drive.  Is there any reason or benefit to keeping a copy of Adobe Reader if I already have Acrobat 9 Pro installed and updated?

    Bill,
Thanks for the quick reply.  That is what I figured.
    All the best,

  • I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended trying to install Adobe Presenter

I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended trying to install Adobe Presenter can someone tell me where the serial # is located as there is none on the box although there is one for Acrobat.. thanks

Hi there. I'm having the same issue, and it appears a few others in the forums are as well.  The jist of it all seems to be that when you try to install presenter from acrobat extended, a message pops up saying that powerpoint is not installed. So like me you go to Adobe support, see that there is a download for MS office 2010 powerpoint, and download it. This is the kicker though, it seems that this is a stand alone version you have just downloaded requiring its own unique seriel number, (one you have to buy) and will not activate in combination with Acrobat Pro extended in any way shape or form.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, attempted to patch, but it will not allow me to, as presenter is not installed! Then I have tried to look at the presenter file within adobe folders, but alas its not there as I can't install it, I can't fiddlle or patch it in any way shape or form. This appears to be other peoples problem as well. Argghhhhhh!
I'm not sure of the work around for this is, hopefully they will sort it out soon, this programme is not cheap!!!!
Unfortunatly for me tech support is now closed until next week, but in your time zone it may be different.
I hope this gives you some background to the why you are having the problem, although not solving it for you.
    Regards,
    Keiran.

  • I have Acrobat extended pro 9.0 and cant install it properly

I have Acrobat extended pro 9.0 and cant install it properly

Are you logging in as the administrator and disabling anti-virus? Is it a S/N issue. If so, you may have an upgrade version and need the S/N from the previous version to register Acrobat. We need to know the message as mentioned by TSN if we are to help further.

  • I have a Mac Pro with four hard drives. I currently have Lion installed on one hard drive. I want to have the option to boot from either Lion or Snow Leopard. How can I do this?

I have a Mac Pro with four hard drives. I currently have Lion installed on one hard drive. I want to have the option to boot from either Lion or Snow Leopard. How can I do this?

It's best to install Snow Leopard on one of the three remain drives without an Operating System.
You can then install the applications you need from the original media. Create a User Account using Setup Assistant.
Do you want to migrate User Accounts from the OSX LIon boot drive, or are you keeping the User Accounts separate?
Dual-booting just requires holding the option key during startup and selecting either Lion or Snow Leopard.

    Hi hgratz,
Considering 'invalid serial number' error for Acrobat 9, I would suggest you to please refer the KB doc link mentioned below:
    Error "Invalid serial number" | Acrobat 9 | CS4
Let me know if that helps.

  • I am trying to move my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended  from my older HP Win7 Pro notebook to my new HP Win 7

I am trying to move my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from my older HP Win7 Pro notebook to my new HP Win 7 Pro notebook. This should be WAY easy, and it's not. Sofware downloaded from MS/HP after new noteboook was safely home. Used Microsoft transfersoftware to move all--but the Adobe Night watchman won't recognize my product code (it worked on the older notebook). I have now recopied the irginal download and everything seems fine but the IE plug-in to Adobe PDF printer does not function. Any suggestions?

You won't like this response, but there is no way to simply move any Adobe software installation from one system to another. In part, this has to do with the registration/activation infrastructure that Adobe uses. FWIW, Adobe isn't the only software vendor for which you can't simply move software from one system to another via various migration tools.
You must totally uninstall from the first system including product deactivation and then install on the new system and reactivate.
In terms of “fixing” your current system, I would recommend totally uninstalling the software (and deactivating in the process), reboot, and then reinstall from scratch.

  • Acrobat X Pro installed, but Help didn't

I work at a large agency—about 2800 employees—and we cannot get any Help from Acrobat X Pro.
But that isn't Adobe's fault. We upgraded from 9 to X at least 8 months ago. Ever since, whenever any one of us has hit "Help," we have gotten the same message:
There's a good reason the browser can't find the file at that address. There aren't any files there. In fact, there is no /X folder in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_US/acrobat/.
We have uninstalled and reinstalled from our NAL. Same result.
Our IT folks say this is as it should be—that all Adobe help is now online, so there are no files to be installed on our computers. Funny thing, though: All help has been online for a while. So we found an installation of Acrobat 9 Pro, copied the /9 folder from /Adobe/Help/en_US/acrobat into my installation of Acrobat X Pro, renamed the folder /X instead of /9, and voila! We were taken to the correct Help topic for our context, regardless of what we were doing. Everything worked.
Except that we were taken to the help for  9, not X.
Still, IT insists that there are no files on their CDs, there are no files to be downloaded from Adobe's site, and there should be no such files—indeed, no /Help folder—on our C: drives.
And they just closed a 7-month-old Help ticket with no progress on the fix.
Some of us who are affected are on Windows 7; others are on Windows XP. It seems like that shouldn't matter, though.
Is there a place I can point the IT guys to so they will find the solution to this problem?

Moving this discussion to the Acrobat Installation & Update Issues forum.

  • Acrobat X Pro Install Fails OS 10.7.4

    Hello,
On a new installation of CS6 D&W Premium, on Mac OSX (10.7.4) Everything seems to install except Acrobat, and I am left with the following after installation.
    Exit Code: 6
Please see specific errors and warnings below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW006, DW050 ...

ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
    ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat X Pro : Install failed
Despite the above error, the application is in the APP folder and starts with no errors.  Recently an update became available to Acrobat X Pro and the Update will not install -- it says that Acrobat has been modified since its original installation.
Any ideas what might be going on here?
    Thanks for looking!

Restart with the Option key held down and use Lion's recovery partition to install onto that drive. Alternatively, clone your existing system to that drive, run DiskWarrior on the clone, restart from the clone, and use DiskWarrior to repair the internal drive.

Hi hope somebody can help? i have acrobat 6 pro, worked well for last two years but then just stopped working. Have reinstalled but still will not open, ronning windows 7. Help please!!  Janice

    Hey janicem42177174,
Adobe no longer supports the installation and use of Acrobat 6 as it is a very old version which is not compatible with Windows 7.
I would suggest you to please use the latest version of Acrobat i.e. 11.0.10 which is fully compatible with your OS with its enhanced features and functions.
You might download a free 30-day trial version of Acrobat from here:
Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat XI Professional
Let me know how it goes
