I have added a page to my document.

and now I am trying to move it into the order I need it to be but no matter where I move it, Pages automatically adds another page that is linked to the one I created and I do not need it. When I try and delete that extra page it deletes both. HELP!!!

Are you using the Page Thumbnails bar to delete the extra page? If so, don't - it only deletes sections and not individual pages.
You'll need to delete an extra page manually. First, resize all images so they go no lower than the footer. Now delete any unnecessary text or 'markers' in the page you wish to delete eg paragragh returns, page breaks, spaces, etc.
NB Choose the View > Show Invisibles menu command to see these 'markers'.

Probably with a macro. Otherwise you are going to be adding 150 times. After it is added, be sure to do a Save AS, not a Save. If you want backward compatibility, use Reduce File Size or the PDF Optimizer. I suggest you try things on a backup.
It is a lot easier if you can go back to the source and create the pages with the invoices, but that may not be an option.

Adding a page to a document

This sounds like a simple question, but it's driving me crazy. When I add a page to a regular newsletter I put out, it adds two pages, the first automatically linked to the page above in a section (which I could do without) and the second in a new section. But if I try to delete the extra page, it deletes them both. And so I end up with all but the first page linked together in a section that I can't delink, and the final page is just an extra blank page I can't get rid of without deleting everything in the section. I'd rather just keep each page separate and not in a section, but I don't see any such option.

Each page will be a separate section and your headaches will go away, for the most part, if you start with a blank Page Layout template rather than a Word Processing document template. PL mode is the choice for newsletters, hands down.

Moving pages from one document to another in preview

I have two PDF documents open with the sidebar on my desktop. I have moved a page from one document sidebar to another and then saved the document with the additional page. When I open the document the added page is not there. This is extremely fustrating as I have tried this all different ways. Any suggestios???

The movie is still available, watching it may help, it shows a method for adding all the pages from one PDF to another. The general idea of where to drag in the destination would still apply for adding just one page.

How do I print the first page of numerous documents?

Computer setup:
Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.10 on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
User experience:
I consider myself proficient in office (Excel, Word) and software use in general (Windows XP). The extent of my Adobe Acrobat experience is creating custom dynamic stamps. I have little to no javascript programming knowledge.
Problem:
Numerous pdf files in multiple directory locations must have the first page of each document printed.
Current (and time-consuming) solution:
Copy the files to a single directory
Use Acrobat Pro to combine files and individually select the first page for each document
Combine and print.
Tools
Filename Extractor (can be used to extract the filename OR filename and path of documents)
Bonus Points
An index of all documents exists in Excel format. Documents are selected for printing by filtering this Excel index. The Excel index will have a column containing the path of each document. A solution that can utilise this path information to shortcut the time-consuming "copy and paste" method currently used will attract bonus points.

Create a batch process the executes the following JavaScript code:
this.print({nStart:0, bUI: false, bSilent: true});
It will silently print the first page of any file you batch. Be careful not to overload your printer's queue by sending too many files in one go.

Adding pages to a document

I have been using the following code to add a page to the document.
Utils<ILayoutUIUtils>()->AddNewPage();
It has been working fine in CS3 and CS4. However in CS5 (mac), it is inserting pages. So in a 2-page document, any objects that were on the 2nd page, are now on the 4th page in the document. And the newly added pages become the 2nd and 3rd page.
In previous versions, all the new pages were added at the end of the existing pages, so any objects that were on the 2nd page, stay there, and the new pages are the 3rd and 4th page.
Any ideas?

Insert a Section Break at the beginning of the first line of the document to insert a new page at the top of a document without upsetting the alignment of text and graphics below. The Page numbers will update below, but the design will be intact. Be aware though that this may result in your needing to copy Header and Footer details to the new first Section. If you build a document in the normal order, Section details are inherited by succeeding Sections, but when you work backwards this doesn't happen automaticallly.

Out of habit, I tend to combine PDF files in the Page Thumbnails pane by right-click then "Insert Pages" -> "From File". For me, this preserves the tags from both documents, although the tags may have to be moved into the right location (if I recall correctly the tags for the inserted pages get put at the end of the tag structure, regardless of where the pages are inserted), If I first put the tags for the document to be inserted inside a container tag like Section, it makes the process easier. Moving that set of tags to the right place is the only re-fixing that I recall having to do. What behavior are you experiencing?

Probably you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open Pages 5.2 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.2 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened by newer Pages versions anywhere, is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 95 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

You can't change the way Pages import .doc files.
It was never written that it reproduce exactly the original one.
From my point of view, as I refuse to give a cent to M...soft, the best way to deal with documents issued by their Office suite is to use the free libreOffice.

How to open an existing Pages document?
Click Pages icon in the Dock to launch Pages.
When Pages is open, click File menu in the Pages menu bar.
Select “Open”.
When the select document dialog box opens up, highlight/select the document and click “Open”

Problem with Pages. I have recently been unable to open Pages, or any documents from Pages on my iMac. Pages seems to be in the Cloud and can open a list of the documents in Pages, but can't open any of those documents.

The answer is simple... If you want to remedy this, then don't save them as PDFs.
Word opens Word and text documents. Not PDFs.

Here is the solution that I received from the chat line.
When you update applications like Pages it usually keeps both versions on the computer. So what most likely happened is it didn’t put the new version on your dock. So to fix this, open a finder window. And go into applications which should be listed on the left. Scroll down and you will see Pages listed in here. And the icon should look different. You can drag that icon down onto your dock.Open that and you then can access your documents

When you installed Pages v5, it automatically moved the older Pages ’09 v4.3 into /Applications/iWork '09 folder. If you want normal comment interoperability, you are advised to resume using the older version of Pages. Newer, is certainly not better with Pages v5.
