I have an alert said that "the url is not valid and it can't be loaded" what is this? is it critical?

operating system: win vista 32bit

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

• After updating to firefox 9 when i click on the "home" icon i get an alert that the url is not valid and can't be loaded. Why?

my computer updated to firefox 9. update was ok, but now when i click on the "home" icon, i get an alert that the url is not valid and cannot be loaded. everything is good to go as far as web surfing and so forth, but i want the firefox start page as my home page. also the private browsing option won't work because of the invalid url.

Hi ozzie427,
What URL do you have bookmarked as your home page? You might want to look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]]. There are steps in there to restore the home page to default. I would try that first to see if it clears up any strangeness. If that works, you can set the home page to anything you like.
Hopefully this helps!

This happens a lot regardless of the web page. I continually have to restart FF and it persists still

• Everytime I open a new tab, I get an alert message saying the URL is not valid and can't be loaded.

I must press 'ok' before I can proceed. This happened after I clicked 'deactivate' when I got a new screen when I opened a new tab, which was also a hassle. Previously, I opened a new tab and life was good...no new screens, no messages....

• Sometimes when firefox loads a web page the error message comes up stating The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded. And I know this is a valid web site. What gives?

This happens very often. When I open Mozilla sometimes I get an error stating that "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." When I click ok the site stops loading and the tab is titled untiled.

This can be a problem with DDE.
• I am getting an Alert, that says, "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.

Can't think of anything else to say.

i get the same message, "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.".
i've narrowed it down a bit more.
i've got a freshly installed firefox US 9.0.1 on a freshly installed windows xp pro sp3 US (fully patched). a freshly installed separate firefox 3 install is on this machine too, but that does not seem relevant.
the problem only occurs when i load https-urls with invalid certificates (eg self-signed) in the case that i use a firefox with a non-default profile.
so the "default" profile displays a "this page cannot be trusted" screen as expected, i can open the url. but in a different firefox instance/profile, when going to the same https url, i get the error popup. the firefox profile/instance is started like this: firefox.exe -P dev -no-remote.
i have reinstalled firefox 9 & 3 because of this issue. the problem stayed. i didn't remember whether i could load the https url with the default before the reinstall. perhaps i couldn't...

• I keep getting the alert window that says, "the url is not valid and cannot be loaded"

My computer is "online" but whenever I try to get on a website, the "Alert" box pops up in the middle of my screen saying, "the URL is not valid and cannot be loaded". This is only happening on Mozilla Firefox, I am able to use Internet Explorer without any problems. I do prefer to use Mozilla Firefox as my browser though.

• My internet is on and I keep getting an alert window popping up saying the URL is not valid and can not be loaded?

I don't know what more details I can give you except for what I indicated. I am online and a window will pop up indicating the URL is not valid and can not be loaded. Make it stop! That's all! Furthermore you should not limit people on the length of their question. How can they explain it ?

Thats the annoying part! I have enough space and I'm putting things on a external hard drive and I keep deleting it off the computer.

• When we connect to the internet or visit a new web page, a new tab opens and an alert pops up as follows: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"

When we start the internet or navigate to a new page, a new tab opens with the following alert: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." We "x" out of it, but a new tab, with the same alert appears. The problem occurs again when we try to navigate to another web page. A real nuisance. We've scanned the computer but found nothing but Adware cookies.

• When I click or type in a valid link, I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." I have to reload/refresh the page one or more times until the same page loads.

This happens with small sites as well as major ones such as amazon.com. It happens frequently with many different websites both when typing in a URL or clicking on one from search results or other pages. If I am opening it in a new tab, the page is blank and the correct URL shows in the address bar even though it didn't load. When I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" I have to click okay and then click on the link again or click refresh. Sometimes it loads on the 2nd try; other times I have to refresh multiple times to get it to load.
Anyone know what is causing this or what will help?

• I am getting this error message, " The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" when I try to go to Firefox home. I have uninstalled add-ons, uninstaleed and reinstalled a fresh new firefox which did not help

I am getting the following error message, " The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" when I try to go to firefox home. I uninstalled add-ons , uninstalled Firefox and then installed a fresh version. Still have the problem.
Thanks for the help

That issue can be caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation (multiple versions can be installed side-by-side; SxS) that is missing some runtime components (Redistributable Packages) that Firefox depends on (problem with an embedded manifest file that specifies a specific runtime version).
You need to install the missing components (e.g. VisualC++ 2005 Redistrbutable).

• Why do I keep getting an error message that reads "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."

Whenever I click on a link that opens a new tab using "about:tab", an error pops up. The error box is titled "Alert" and the message reads "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."
However, once I click OK, the page loads just fine. At first, I thought it might be one of my add-ons (Iuse a bunch), but it still occurs after restarting in Safe Mode. Any thoughts?
I can even create the problem without clicking on a link inside a page if I simply type about:tab in the address bar.
I am using Firefox 12.0

Wow! I actually solved this on my own. I didn't find any thread that helped, but after reading a few, I figured poking around in about.config would help... and it did!
Here is how I solved the problem:
# Typed '''about:config''' in address bar.
# When I got to the warning about voiding the warranty, clicked '''I'll be careful, I promise!'''
# I found the setting entitled '''browser.newtabl.url''' (use the '''Search:''' box).
# I double-clicked on the entry entitled '''browser.newtabl.url''' and deleted the info in the value portion.
# Clicked '''OK'''.
# Closed the tab.
# Restarted Firefox and problem was solved.

• Why does Firefox warn me "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" on just about everysight that I go to including my MSN homepage

When I open firefox and go to my home page I get The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded. This also happens when I access other pages. I click ok and then it opens up but I'm ready to go back to IE

• I get continously "THE URL IS NOT VALID AND CANNOT BE LOADED" whereve I am, my homepage or sites I have been using always

Since I downloaded the last Firefox version 3.6 15, no matter where I am, I am back in my homepage and I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded", usually I can go back to the site I was in and keep doing whatever I was doing, but often it will happen again.
This is happening in both my computer, laptop and desktop, one has windows XP, the other one has windows 7.
Suggestions? It is becoming a nuisance being moved from the tab I am, and kicked back to the homepage tab
