I have an Apple iphone 4. It will import my photos but when I am in Windows Media Centre and want to sync music it asks me to Connect a Device when my phone is already connected. I have been able to do this in the past but for some reason this fault has just begun Do you know the reason for this?
Are you certain that it is locked to Orange?
Regardless, Apple does not lock devices, carriers do.
If the carrier refuses to unlock the device there is nothing that can be done.

see - I am so inept I have put the full question in the wrong place! I just want to pay for films on the apple tv and sit by the fire but the computer doesnt recognise my apple tv user name or password and I have now downloades itunes but what next as I cant hjomeshare. Also they dont tell you how to pay, surely you dont sit in front of the tv and put ini your card details - equally a bill cant come in the post - I know I am a techno phobe but am I the only one who thinks this handbook and website is NOT VERY HELPFUL.
There are several fairly simple steps to get going really.
1 - Set up an itunes account if you don't have one - do this on computer using itunes - payments can be by credit card registered to an address in your country or prepaid itunes voucher cards which have codes you enter in itunes to top up account credit.
2 - Connect AppleTV to TV with HDMI and turn on
3 - Set up AppleTV network settings - ethernet works best, wifi fine for most people to. Confirm you are connected to the internet by trying to play some free content from YouTube or Movie trailers etc.
4 - Configure your iTunes Store account in AppleTV settings - choose default of SD or HD downloads too for rentals. Once configured you should be able to rent/buy from the menus if connected to internet - you can choose for the unit to remember your password if you're happy with that - if others might run up big bills inadvertently don't allow it to remember your password.
5 - If you want to be able to purchase things and store locally in itunes then stream across your local network to AppleTV configure Home Sharing in iTunes - it normally appears in left side of itunes but disappears once set up.
Also are you running Windows or Mac OS - the interface may differ slightly in iTunes?

My phone is hooked up to my iTunes account, but when i go to update apps, it asks for my girlfriends iTunes password? I only go the phone today, but havent had this trouble before with iPhone 4 or 5.
Can anyone enlighten me as to whats going on? - ThanksIf that's the case you may have to disable wifi syncing in her user account using her iTuens library. I'm really not sure though. If someone does, hopefully they'll jump in here. The problem with chaning libraries is that when you do, iTunes will delete any iTunes media on the phone and replace it with the media in the iTunes library you sync with so hopefully this won't be necessary.

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. I have an apple iphone 4gs... It is synced with my outlook exchange in the office. If I do a search for emails that also checks the server then all of a sudden I end up with various amounts unread email with the inbox saying "Inbox 71" ..which is not true. The only way to make the inbox on the iphone back to 0 is to delete the account then re install it.

I have a IPhone 5 and Iphone 5s, each phone is activited with a different service provider. Both are set up with the same account ID and running IOS 8.0.2. When the phones are connected to the same Wifi at home, both phones will ring when someone call in to one of the phone. Hence you do not know exactly which line the caller called. If you answered using the wrong phone, then anyone calling the other number will not get through. Anyway to solve this problem?

Thanks for the question. It sounds like your devices are set up to use continuity together. Specifically, it sounds like you are signed into the same Apple ID in FaceTime, and have iPhone Cellular Calls enabled. To resolve your issue, simply disable this setting:

I have an Apple iphone 4s and for the last 4 weeks I cannot download or update any apps. I have an iPad and a Mac book pro and the apps download on these devices fine. My phone tells me that I have 12 updates but when I press update all or update any individually nothing happens at all. It also does not ask me for my password any more but my iPad and mac book do.
I have signed in and out of the app store and the password is correct. I have tried both kinds of reboot but that did nothing. I have tried to update the apps by connecting phone to Mac book pro...it shows the apps being download on the Mac book and says it will sync them to my phone but it does not. Everything else on my phone works fine.
Any ideas ...Please!Thank you, this has resolved both the iphone and ipad problem immediately. I am concerned that I may have a problem with apps that I bought under my old AppleID as they will not be recognised. Any suggestions for this please?

Only charges when plugged in the wall or a car charger. I've tried everything imaginable but I can't get the phone to register in iTunes at all.. The phone won't even reset.. when i try and reset EVERYTHING on the phone the apple logo with the progress bar starts to come up but the progress never moves.. PLEASE help me.. I'm at my wits end with this phone and I'm ready to just trash it.

My phone started acting up and I noticed my text messages were not being sent. So I turned my iphone off. My iphone 4s turned off properly but when I went to put it back the apple icon came on and then an image I have never seen before of a UBS pointiing towards the word itunes in a circle. And the phone no longer goes beyond this message. I try to turn it off and on again and same message over and over. If I hit the any button on the phone nothing happens. Does anyone know what this means or seen this itunes messaging ? meltdown? Please help.

Thank you so much for your response. I had these photos backed up on iCloud but, had I not, its good to have an alternate solution as the one you suggested. Actually, I went to the Apple store today and yes, you are absolutely correct Restoring in iTunes will result in permanent loss of photos unless backed up somewhere such as iCloud or other solution. Well, what they did was restore the phone in itunes ( I did not have iTunes downloaded to my computer which is why it did not work when I went to do it myself, I needed to go to the iTunes site and go to the download iTunes button because my windows based HP laptop does not come with itunes already downloaded). This retoration process took a while and I was forced to upgrade to the latest 7.1 iOS software which I was not too happy about -sometimes you like the way things work now :-) Anyhow, they said this restoration request happens as a result of a software update (which I was NOT in progress of an update or doing an update) or sometimes when you remove the power cable too quickly from the iphone (which I do not recall doing this either but...). Since I had backed up on iCloud all of the photos were downloaded back on my iphone 4s. Best of all was that my phone was back up and runnning and there was NO CHARGE at the apple store for this service of restoring my phone. Well, I just wanted to share the results and I appreciate all the responses and support I received. Thank you kindly. -
I just bought this iphone not even a month ago. It will not work unless it is plugged into the wall. It will not turn on plugged into a computer. Am I SOL? I do not have insurance.
You do not have insurance.
You do have a one year warranty on workmanship and materials.
Call Apple and set up an appointment to have them look at it.
They should fix it ot replace it for you.

Try syncing songs one at a time to see if there is a problem song(s).
Do the songs play in iTunes on the computer?
