I have an empty box on my bookmarks toolbar I can't get rid of.

Starting today, I have an empty box on my bookmarks toolbar that I can't get to go away. It comes after the >> icon where I can see more bookmarks, but it is linked to the bookmarks toolbar as it goes away when I uncheck this bar. I have tried customize and I can't move or remove the box.

This is a screen capture of what I'm talking about.

    I swapped my iphone from apple store india and my imei of iphone changed and i have lost the box and bill of phone , how can i get my old imei number.

    Of course it changed. A phone's IMEI number is unique to each phone. The IMEI number for a phone does not transfer to another phone.
    Since your iPhone was exchanged under warranty without having the box and bill for the original purchase, you don't need it now either. The exchange under warranty remains under the warranty for the original purchase.

  • I have one random Apple ID that appears only when I go to itunes or App Store.  For everything else I have my Apple ID and password all set.  Can I get rid of this thing?

    This is a Question:  I have one random Apple ID that comes up only when I'm trying to access Apps or iTunes.  I have another Apple ID with a password that works just fine for everything else.  I do not have a password for this random id.  How can I get rid of it?  I can't perform updates is the big issue.

    Jonathan:This seems to make a lot of sense.  My only follow up question is:  will I have any trouble getting iTunes and
    Apps back?
    Will apple charge me?  I really can't remember clearly, but it seems to me that iTunes and Apps were present on the
    iPad2 that was given to me as a gift, but I could be mistaken.
    If I am all clear for getting those two stores back with an easy selection, then I will use your solution.
    Have a great season, my friend- this was driving me nuts!  Thank you so much!

  • I have found Adware.Adpopup on my Mac.  How can I get rid of it?

    Two days ago every time I open Safari I am getting heaps of adds and pages opening when I click on anything;  In addition, I noticed that a lot of the words now are blue with two lines under them and they are ads.  My Anti-virus has detected Adware.Adpopup  but I cant seem to figure out how to get rid of it!  Any suggestions?

    You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.

    Back up all data.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
    Right-click or control-click the line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
    Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
    Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
    From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
    This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
    You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Empty folders in my trash that I can't get rid of...

    Hi,
    I know that there are and have been many posts in this discussion forum about undeletable items in Trash, but rest assured that I have tried everything I could come up with in the last few days and that I have no choice but to post this.
    First, the problem:
    I am using a FAT32 Windows using BootCamp with my MacOs. A few days ago, I deleted a couple of files from my Windows volume from MacsOs. While I was able to get rid of most of them in the trash, there are 4 folders for which I receive the typical "you do not have sufficient privileges" error.
    The folders are empty and probably are not taking up any space but it's annoying to face that error message every time I am trying to empty trash.
    The first things I tried were option+delete and secure empty trash. None of them worked.
    Now, I am not an expert in Unix-based systems but I have tried sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash command, when rebooted, the folders were still there.
    When I use ls -aldeO command, below are the results I see:
    anil-usumezbass-imac:~ anilusumezbas$ ls -aldeO /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork
    drwxrwxrwx 1 anilusumezbas staff - 16384 Oct 21 02:42 /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork
    anil-usumezbass-imac:~ anilusumezbas$ ls -aldeO /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork/1995\ -\ Post\ \(192k\)
    drwxrwxrwx 1 anilusumezbas staff - 16384 Oct 21 02:41 /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork/1995 - Post (192k)
    anil-usumezbass-imac:~ anilusumezbas$ ls -aldeO /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork/1997\ -\ Homogenic\(128k\)
    drwxrwxrwx 1 anilusumezbas staff - 16384 Oct 21 02:42 /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork/1997 - Homogenic(128k)
    anil-usumezbass-imac:~ anilusumezbas$ ls -aldeO /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork/2002.\ Greatest\ Hits\ \(192k\)
    drwxrwxrwx 1 anilusumezbas staff - 16384 Oct 21 02:42 /Volumes/WINDOWS/.Trashes/501/Bjork/2002. Greatest Hits (192k)
    What's strange is, I have tried some other command which I can't recall know and which was supposed to show me the contents of Trash bin; and I saw that the bin was empty. I am suspecting that those folders might not actually be there but for some reason, trash could be thinking the opposite.
    In any case, I am sure you would know better. So if there is anything else I can provide that would make it easier for you to help me, please say so.

    the output of these commands indicates that the folders are all on the windows drive. you need to boot into windows and delete them from there. there is no way to delete them from OS X side if you get "you do not have sufficient privileges" error.

  • Hi, I D/L'd FF 23 but inadvertantly D/L'd it from a 3rd party, dalesearch took over FF I have stripped it out and run my malware how can I get rid of it.Thanks

    I downloaded FF 23 but inadvertantly from a 3rd party, FF was taken over by something called Dalesearch which apparently is malware, I stripped FF23 out ran my anti malware programme and re downloaded FF23 from the Mozilla site, everything works now but Dalesearch is permanently in my search window but not active. I can overwrite it and all is ok. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this completely as it is a bit worrying. I can find my way around a computer but am not an expert so please no complicated answers.
    Many thanks Pete30

    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
    * [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
    * [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
    [http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

  • It shows I have "Other 9.9" on my phone and I can't get rid of it.

    I don't know how to get rid of the Other. A few months ago this happened, and when I went to the apple store they said it was a software glitch and fixed it. Is this happening again? It's so frustrating, I can't take any pictures or video or anything. I have 233 pictures. UGH.

    You need to Restore the phone using iTunes. Copy your photos to your computer first. The iPhone will appear on your computer as a digital camera (directly on the computer, not in iTunes); copy the photos using the scanner and camera wizard.

  • There is a large flashing advertisement at the top of pages that shouldn't have one, such as this Mozilla page. How can I get rid of this, and is it malware of some sort?

    Not sure how often

    Hello Jim.
    You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
    If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • I still have that stupid pacman sound effect playing and I can not get rid of it. I have researched this for weeks and weeks and have tried everything. I need a sure fire way to track this thing down and stop it.

    Do not have cool previews, have deleted, cleaned, rebooted, removed everything according to all the online help, but still have this stupid sound.

    Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] and see if that helps!
