Hello Kooniebug,
You can go to HP.com, type in your product number and you should be able to order the disks.
You can call HP at 1-800-HPINVENT
If the disks are not available you can go to www.restoredisks.com and order them.
Let me know if this helps.

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC unable to boot recovery disk.  First when I power on my notebook it goes straight to the launch recovery or launch Windows normally screen.  When I choose start windows normally, it goes to the window screen and freeze.  When I try to launch the start-up with windows 7 start-up disk, the computer will not load the files.  When I tried to complete a hard drive test, it failed with a failure ID 9UXNXA-55E65V-XD003G-60XR03.
I'm looking for a solution, can someone help?

    Hi:
It sounds like you need to purchase a new hard drive for your notebook, and reinstall the operating system with your recovery disks.
When a HDD fails a diagnostic test, it normally means it is done for.

  • I have compaq cq50. was VISTA upgraded to WIN 7. Recovery disks not working. BOOTMGR compressed

will not boot up.  I have 2 recovery disks, the 1 of 2 will take but 2 of 2 disk doesnt run.

    Hi:
If you are trying to use the Vista recovery disks and they are not working, and you can read your Vista product key on the bottom of your notebook, then you can make your own Vista installation disk by reading the guidance below.
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them an my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-microsoft-windows-v....
After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.

  • Hp Pavilion, need to get recovery disks.

    Hi there,
I have been asked by my girlfriends aunt to fix her computer, which i've agreed to do. However on receiving the computer I have discovered that I appear to be in a long line of people who have tried to fix it. And sadly it looks as though i'm the only one who knows what i'm doing.
The problems i'm having is that whoever has tried fixing it in the past has done so by installing an illegal copy of vista onto the machine, thus stopping me from being able to create the recovery disks using the recovery disk creation program.
The hard disk is in such a mess with several copies of windows.old etc... that it needs to be completely erased, as there appear to be errors on the disk i'd like to lowlevel it.
The recovery partition is still in tact but is there any way that I can get the recovery dvd's from this as nothing else is working properly?
This is causing a few headaches I can tell you.
    Cheers if anyone can help.
    Mike

Hello 2kmike, Since you did not mention the Model Number of the system, it would be a little difficult to advise.
If it is a fairly new HP computer, you might try booting the system and when the HP Logo appears, start tapping the F-11 key and see if you can enter the HP Recovery Restore Utility. If so, select the destructive recovery method and the hard drive will be formated and wiped clean of all the previous data.
It should then proceed to install all the original software and reboot the system, just as it was when shipped from HP.
If you manage to get the system back as it was originally, you could then make the HP Recovery Restore Disk set for later use if you ever needed them, such as a hard drive replacement.

  • 2nd hard drive for HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Notebook - What do I need?

Hi, I have the HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook (Product # WV703AV). It has room for two harddrives but only came with one. What would I need in order to install the second hard drive? Would I need just a connecting cable or do I also need caddy or kit?
Also, could I get a solid state? Would my notebook support that or does it only use regular ones?
    Currently, I'm running Windows 7 64bit. I've got a 500GB hd (which came partitioned with hp tools/recovery).
Any help with what I would need for a traditional hdd or ssd would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look through other people's posts first,  but couldn't find anything specific to my model. Thanks for your time!

    Hi:
The only place I know of where you can get a 2nd hard drive kit is from this vendor.
    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=345
Your notebook should be able to work with a SSD but I cannot guarantee it.
I really don't see any point in adding a SSD unless you make it the primary hard drive, and in order to do that, you would need to get a SSD the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery disks to reinstall the operating system.
Most folks get smaller SSD's and they use the W7 product key to activate a plain installation of W7.
If you can read all 25 characters of your windows 7 product key you can make your own installation media and use that to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link  below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • HP Pavilion a1560n : Sysem recovery disk gives error

I have a HP Pavilion a1560n Desktop PC with Windows XP. I got a laptop so I quit using the desktop. I stored it were it would not get damaged but when I turned it back on it said     ( Hard Drive not found wires may have come loose  or damaged)   so I removed the side cover and checked the wires, they were fine.  I then tried to boot and it came up    ( Boot file not found put system recovery disk in and reboot).      I put the system recovery disk in and it tried to boot and then an error message came up and it would do nothing else.  error message is as follows.    (  ERROR:   This CD contains a backup of the  software originally installed on an HP Pavilion PC and can only be used with an HP Pavilion PC. If you are receiving this message on an HP Pavilion, please call HP Support.  )       This is an HP Pavilion so I don't understand what is going on. It was working fine when I shut it down. Warranty has expired so I can not afford to call HP Support. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Recovery Set checks the hardware configuration and compares it to the configuration that is in a file on the disk.  If they do not match, then that is the message displayed.  So, the question is, what changed to make the disk tell that, anything different from when it was new?  Since the first error message, I think there is a hardware problem and the message is also indicates something is different.  Both errors point to a problem with the hard drive.  Remove the wired connections from the hard drive, one at a time, and reconnect.  Try again.  If the same message, then do the same for the hard drive wired connections on the motherboard, try again.

  • After system recovery on a Pavilion 513n with XP SP2 I cannot run CD's created with Iomega Hotburn.

I have a 9 year old Pavilion 513n running Windows XP SP2.  I have two RAM sticks, one of 1GB (added) and one of 256MB (the original with the computer).  The hard drive is a Western Digital 80 GB.  The CD/DVD drive is the original with the computer.  I recently had to do a system recovery due to a corrupted Windows file using the HP System Recovery Disks and an SP2 disk from Microsoft.  Since then, the computer will not recognize nor read CD's created on an Iomega external CD burner using Iomega Hotburn software.  These CD's worked fine previously even after system recoveries.  Other CD's run fine.  I have done previous system recoveries in the last nine years, and have never encountered this problem before.  I am hoping someone else may have run into this and can help me.
    Thanks

I think this problem is more of a hardware issue.  Have you tried using a linux live cd?
If it boots fine into safe mode then it is an installation/driver issue.  Safe mode bypasses most driver problems.  I would suggest you try using virtual pc from microsoft it is free and try it withing windows it is very, very easy to use to set up a virtual machine.
It COULD be a hard drive issue, if so i would try a low level seek format, and then install windows.  Low level formats are NOT windows formats. Try installinf say PCLinuxos 2007 and if that works there is a problem with your drivers.
Ultimately it may well come down to hardware, just use other options to actually isolate if it is a hardware problem or not.

  • Pavilion dm1z-4000 Hinge Screws

    Hello all.
I'm having a heck of a time trying to locate the appropriate screws for my Pavilion dm1z-4000.  I need the four screws (I would like a few extra too) that attach the hinges to the display panel. The support manual lists these as Phillips PM2.0×4.2. I've done a Google search and I can't find these screws anywhere. I've seen PM2.0x4.0 or, more commonly, 2.5x4.0.
I don't want to pay an outrageous price for an entire replacement screw set just to procure these four screws. I have seen other used HP screw sets for sale online for a reasonable price but they aren't for my specific model, the dm1z-4000. Some of them are for other dm1 models. What is the likelihood that the screws would be the same?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!

Yeah, the 2.0 x 6.0 screws from the hardware store worked! They've been in for months now and everything has held together fine. I didn't use any washers or anything, just the screws.

  • I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I just bought a 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute any work at all?  I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one.  I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
    How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI.  Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870.  That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • I have an HP-Pavilion Vista PC with MS Office 2007 and Service Pack 2. Each time I try to save a Wo

I have an HP-Pavilion Vista PC with MS Office 2007 and Service Pack 2.  Each time I try to save a Word or Excel document I get the “Not Responding” message.  The “Word is saving……” bar at the bottom does not show any progress.  On clicking the document I get a faded version even when in Safe Mode.  Somehow the document appears on the Desktop where I tried to save it.  On trying to open the saved document, even as administrator, I get the following ”File in Use” message:
“The ….docx is locked for editing by….” and I am asked three questions including:
“Do you want to open a Read Only copy” yet on clicking “Yes” I am able to edit the same document.
On trying to save to a different location I get the message:
“Your autocorrect file MSO 1033.ad could not be saved. The file may be read only or you may not have permission to modify this file.”
The same message stating FILE12\1033\MSO.ACL MSO 1033ad recurs with new Excel documents.
How can I correct this problem?
    PS
Worse still, the HP Advisor icon that appears on startup does not load successfully while showing the message: “Access to the path Hewlett-Packard\HD Advisor is denied”.
What can I do about it?

I got this computer December 2013. It has hardly been used and has displayed this in the past. Now it displays this and won't do anything. It makes a clicking type sound. I got it for Christmas and don't think there was a disk that came with it. I have a HP Pavilion 23

    Laurie, welcome to the forum.
The error message that you are receiving means that the hard drive has failed.  You should try running the SMART test from the BIOS to make certain.  If it has failed, it should be covered under the warranty, since it is less than a year old.

What do I do now?

    Hi,
Assuming your in the US, recovery discs are available to order for that model here.  That may be the best option.
You should also be able to do a recovery without the discs as well.  Take a look at this document: Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery, and look for the section Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible.  This should allow you to recover the PC.
