I have an I mac from 2010 thats running 10.5.8, it wont let me update to 10.6.2, how do i approach this?

When i try to update the old iMac, no matter which approach i choose, it keeps telling me, that i cannot update?
I am frustrated :-) Can anyone help me on this?

You must purchase a retail OS X 10.6 Snow Leoaprd disc here.

Before embarking on installing a major systems upgrade, it would be prudent make sure you have a viable backup of your current system and all your important data in case something goes wrong with with the upgrade installation process of after installation.
Good Luck!
