Unfortunately what you need is something that is designed for PowerPC Macs. Stuff that is designed for Intel Macs will not work. The PowerPC (PPC) Mac software is getting scarcer. Macs in 2006 shifted to Intel CPUs. Stuff that is designated Universal will work, and you can buy the retail 10.5 if you have no Mac OS 9 related software that needs to load. If you partition your hard disk, or use an external Firewire hard drive partition just for booting into 10.4.11 or earlier, you can still use Classic for Mac OS 9. Don't dump your PowerPC Mac yet, Appleworks has no equivalent in the Intel Mac world once upgraded to Mac OS X 10.7 or later, and this tip covers Appleworks:

So you are unfortunately stuck in the transition period, but if carefully reviewed can be done right if you ready all your documents for the transition when you can afford it.

Hi, Thanks for responding. Most downloads you can double click and/or drag over to applications for it to actually install however this one you can't. It just acts like an empty folder and does nothing. I did update to Mountain Lion recently and wondered if it was incompatible or something or if I was doing anything wrong? Thanks.

The emails are at my server location but will not show up on my desktop machine. They show up on our other machines that also have filters. The desktop machine is XP and the netbooks are Windows 7. I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like ios6 isn't any good for any of their devices. I have an iPhone 4 and recently updated to ios6 and have had all the wifi problems and apps getting hung up on load screens. Restore is your best bet and downgrade if you can back to ios 5.1. If restore doesn't help with a fresh install of ios6 then call every Apple support number you can find and be heard like the 1,000s of other people like us with ios6 problems demanding support. There doesn't seem to be any quick fixes for ios6 other than an update from Apple.

I'm sorry. I got a little off-the-wall there.
I want to have the same iPhoto files on both machines. A few days ago I spent several hours swapping photos back and forth until I had one event with identical picture files on both. Yesterday I scanned some old photos into the Macbook. Today I wanted to copy them to the iMac. I could not remember what I had done a few days ago, so I spent a couple of frustrating hours trying to either remember or find another way, to no avail. I have no idea what I did right before; I only recall that it was pretty easy.
I didn't write anything down. I used to do that, but what I do is so intermittent that by the time I want to copy pictures again either (a) the app has been updated and the old way doesn't work (b) I've lost the paper with the notes on it or (everything seems fine but it just doesn't work. So I gave that up.
Yes, I do want both iPhoto libraries to be the same. The Macbook is the one with the scanner and I download from my camera on the iMac, so I need to be able to move photos from one to the other, I think. -
We have an iMac OSX Lion. I received a CD with photos on it from a friend of mine. My friend scanned the photos to her computer and gave the disc to me. I can hear the disc spinning but the pictures aren't coming up to view. Before having the iMac I had a Dell computer. I was able to view the photos at that time. I have a ipod mini from 2005, it will only work on my charger. I did get a new i pod touch 4, how do i get the music from the old mini to the new touch. I have never put any music on it myself, my ex-husband did it all and has the password. I never new it. I'm sure not about to call him and I don't think he'd give it to me anyway. Please help!!!
I don't think the password will matter, because you can't use anything on the iPod or in iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
The simple software "lock" used on iPods should not prevent you from off-loading the song files. Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library. Then, you can do a Restore on the iPod to give it a fresh start and sync it (and the iPod touch) as desired.

I have an imac osx 5 months old. For the first time today I can not open my desktop folders which are very important to me. How can I open these folders.

I understand code injected into a specific app like safari that uses the global environment variable to access the code in /Users/Shared. But I don't understand how that code could be executed by attempting to run an randomly chosen ppc app. Unless of course other code has been injected is in a more critical place than just safari and that is scary.
Some of this was explained to us a few weeks back by an infected user who reverse engineered the code, working with Intego to figure out why he was being re-directed on Google searches. At the time, nobody believed much of anything he was saying, but F-Secure explains it more fullly in this analysis. Note that there is a filter component to keep it from loading code into apps that would be unstable, so watch for the next variant to filter out ppc only apps.
In a related matter, I got word from the PC side of the house that similar techniques are being used by drive-by infections that were injecting code into a running app which would disappear when they quit the app. A one-time infection, so to speak. Makes it really hard to even know you were temporarily infected, let alone how, why, what damage, etc. -
How do I stop my imac OSX from automatically opening itunes 10 when a new device is attached via USB? The devices do not pop up in itunes under a sync category, so I can't turn them off one by one, nor would I want to.

My iMac G5 from 2005 is dying. It's shutting off when I put it to sleep. It barely starts up anymore. Called an apple computer reseller and they said that the older (white) iMacs (without the iSight) have known problems with their logic boards or power supply. He said he'll diagnose problem for free but thinks I'll need a new mac. I never had this problem with my only 2 previous macs. Not too happy.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what was the problem and how did you solve it? (if you did)

I have an iMac 10.8.2. When trying to download a photo attachment from an email I received the following : "You can't open application IPhoto because the classic environment is no longer supported." This occurred on 10/25/12 at about 11PM CST. The iPhoto icon in both the dock and the application folder is grayed out with the no or do not enter symbol. How can I resolve this so I can access my photos?
I have two iPhoto icons in applications. One is grayed out and has the no symbol, the date of last modification is Oct 25, 2012 11:07pm. The size is 110 KB and kind shows Applic…lassie). When I click on with CMD i it shows:

It depends on what iMac you have. If it is an old PPC (G4 orG5) iMac then no further upgrades are possible. If it an Intel iMac:
