Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears. If that does not work you need to take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar to have it evaluated by the technicians.

When purchased together, AppleCare is automatically activated and applied to your device, so no proof or registration is usually required. Apple usually sends documentation of coverage after a few days, though. If you didn't receive the documentation, it may have been lost in the mail. You can confirm coverage here:

If that doesn't show the correct coverage (the expiration should be two years from your date of purchase) and it's been at least a couple of weeks since you purchased, call Apple support, ask to speak with someone in AppleCare Plan Administration, and explain the mistake to them.

"IF" you have not jailbroken, then please do not.
Jailbreak voids your warranty. Apple will refuse all help, even out-of-warranty replacements when it crashes. Thei forum will not help you with jailbreak devices. Your device becomes unstable and catches viruses. You cannot always restore to pre-jailbreak.
I hope that "if" means you have not done it yet.

It depends on how it broke - if it is down manufacturing defects then yes, if it is deemed to be due to usage (dropping, applying too much pressure too it etc) then no.

I have an ipad2 and the screen shattered. It still works but is there a way to safely fix it without having to buy a new one?

We were on April vacation this past week and my ipad fell onto the road and shattered the screen. I can still get onto it and maneuver around my apps but the screen is spider webbed and shattered. I have heard their are screen kits you can but to replace yourself, but the reviews are mixed. They also say to be careful of the wi fi wires because you can severly screw it up. This was a huge purchase for me and I can't afford to get another one. What can I do? Best Buy says they aren't allowed to replace the screens from Apple products and I have heard Apple just sells you a new one at a lower cost. Is there a way for me to replace the screen myself?
