Not knowing what the problem with your iPad is I cannot know how much time a repair will take. But taking your iPad to an Apple store will be the best way to find out exactly what the problem is and how long it will take to fix it. Make sure that before you go to the Apple store that you make an appointment first. You can make an appointment on line or by calling the store.

    When you say they don't work, what are you trying to do? When you say the ring switch, I'm assuming you are referring to the mute switch that turns the ringer off/on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
    The standard troubleshooting procedures for the iPhone are:
    Power off/on
    Reset
    Restore, first from backup, then as a new phone.
    IF that doesn't help, then you make an appointment at the nearest Apple Genius Bar and have them see if there is a hardware issue.

    I take it then that you have the iPad 2 wifi only model and not the wifi + 3G.
    iPad wifi + 3G has what is known as AGPS and works well with TomTom application on the iPad model with 3G. You would need some sort of external gps receiver to work with the iPad wifi model only.
    For example the iPod touch without Gps can use the tomtom car kit with it's built in gps chip inside the kit.
    Know one can help you here as this is a forum for Apple users.
    Contact Apple store and request a refund.

    * If the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down, that should make the Menu bar appear. Make sure that you have the Navigation Toolbar and other toolbars visible: View > Toolbars .
    * If items are missing then see if you can find them in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.
    * If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to the Navigation toolbar.
    * If you do not see that item then click the Restore Default Set button in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.

  • Trying to turn off "find my ipad" but the icloud password. is not working although it has been reset and the reset password works ok on my laptop.  Any ideas.

    I am trying to access iCloud account.  I have reset the password, which works with my laptop. On the Apple website the account details show that the account is verified but on the ipad it continually says "verified" and underneath "Account not verified" Have checked the rescue email address but this says account is verified.  What should I do? Apple store said I needed to phone.  Phone chat suggested and went through change password etc. but nothing has worked and they have no idea. Help?

    Take your phone to an Apple store and they will replace it with one that has a working lock button. You can temporarily set the autolock time to zero and the idle time as low as it will go.

    I do not know with a iP4. But with iPhone 3G and 3GS, the Home Button circuitry that is used for a typical press to return to Home Screen is different than used to Reset, Enter Recovery, or DFU. So a Reset could still help. Anyway along the lines of your thinking, it would still be better to Restart the iPhone, here you would just be using the Power button. The Restart could even get the Home button to respond again. So the best advice maybe for any iPhone problem would be as often stated on this Forum.....
    Restart, Reset, Restore and then last resort before throwing iPhone in trash, DFU Restore.

    Are you using the Sky Go app to try and watch it ? If so are you logged in with your Sky account ?
    If you are using the app then you could try closing the app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Sky Go 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Sky Go app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    If both accounts are authorised on your computer's iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer) then you can download the books from both accounts to there (download the books from one account, then sign out of it via Store > Sign Out, log in with the other account via Store > Sign In and download the books from the other account), and sync them over to the iPad's iBooks app via the Books tab.
    Or you might be able to sign out of your account on the iPad by tapping on it Settings > Store and sign in with the other account and download the books from that account - I think that it should work, but it's not something that I've tried so I'm not 100% sure that it will

    You set up the smart cover function in settings (you did that, right?) so, if you did that and it's failed you make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar now.
