I have an iPad 2 which I wish to make compatible with MacBook or iMac. (details inside)

Question

Hello.  I got an iPad 2 off eBay, which I wish to make sync with either the iMac or MacBook I own. Questions:
1) Is this possible?
2) What is the easiest way?
    a) New OSes for the MacBook or the iMac?
    b) downgrade the iOS?
    c) something else?

Hi,
Syncing should occur as soon as you plug in the iPad to any of those and opening iTunes. No new operating system is required for either side, although if there is an update (e.g. iOS 7, OS X Mavericks) I would recommend downloading it to easy the experience.
