I have an iPad2 that fails to retain its charge.

My iPad was bought in Aug 2011. Soon after the operating system was upgraded to iOS6 recently, the device developed signs of breakdown. It wouldn't retain the full charge. Within minutes after 100% charging, the battery would drain out, and the screen goes off.
The device was taken to an Apple service center in Cochin, India; where it was confirmed after detailed examination that only the battery was faulty. But, the Center told me that they are not authorized to replace the battery; instead I might opt for a new iPad by paying approximately 25% of the original purchase price. They asked me to pay Rs, 12,000.00 (Rupees Twelve Thousand cash.)
My attempts to contact Apple over phone was not successful. On all occasions they said they tried to call back, but couldn't reach me.
In India, we are not used to this Apple Culture of replacing an expensive product as a whole  for the malfunction of a minor component. The primary purpose of my visit to  Apple Service was to have the battery replaced. The problem remains unsolved.

The thing is, iPads aren't really componetized like a laptop or computer. It doesn't have user servicible parts. (For example, my laptop, I can take a screwdriver and swap out the ram or even a disc drive, can't do that with the iPad)
the fee you are paying is to exchange your malfunctioning one for a refurbished replacement. They then send your s back to the factory where I presume 'good' parts are scavenged and it'e remanufacturer to become someone else's refurbished replacement.

    I think the ability to split the keyboard came with iOS5. I just did it on my keyboard. You hold your finger down on the little keyboard key until you get the options to split or undock.
    Do you have an iPad 1? or is your iPad not running iOS5? You can check that by going to settings and about, and it'll tell you what version you're running.
    If you're not on iOS5, then you need to have iTunes 10.5 on your machine and you can update your iPad to get the mulittasing gestures and split keyboard.

    The area circled in red is to wide (the width) the necklace's width is as wide as the models entire chest. And also the length of the necklace it's to long it should come down to the clevage area on the model/woman.

    I used to be able to sync my podcasts to my Ipad2 in the previous release of the OS via the "Get More Episodes option",  That option is not in the current os or if it is its not easily found.
    Why do I have to sync my subscribed podcasts via my PC for this supposedly syncless os ?
    Why was this feature removed?
    The whole purpose of me buying an Ipad was so I wouldn't have to keep things in sync via a PC.  The previous version of the OS did an excellent job of that.  Now I have to connect at least 1 time a week to keep up.
    This is a clear feature degridation and not a very good one, and I'm  NOT HAPPY AT ALL about this.  I'm actually glad my Ipod is generation 2 because at least its still useful on the previous OS. 
    I hope you fix this bug in an upcomming release. 

    I'm also on iPhone 4, iOS 6, and have exactly the same problem. I've tried resetting privacy settings, turning restrictions on and off, deleting and reinstalling apps. Nothing seems to work. The lists of apps in privacy settings are all empty, except for location services. When using Tweetbot the app is regularly asking for permission to access my twitter account, but even when I allow that, the app doesn't show in privacy settings. When I try to go into the camera roll from the Facebook app, the app tells me I have to allow access to the camera roll from the privacy settings - which I can't do since the app is not listed there.

  • HT1420 I have a macbook that failed from water damage.  How do I deauthorize this computer from itunes?  Is there a way to see which computers are authorized?

    I have tried to use the deauthorize all and I have already done this once this year, so I have to wat until September.
    Maccbook will not power on, so there is no way I can deauthorize using that computer.

    You would have to contact itunes support and ask if they will allow anther deauthorize all.

    Your one choice is to connect your printer to your computer and then get an app for the computer that routes AirPrint jobs to the printer. On a mac, buy Printopia. Don't know about a PC.

    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
    Tip 2 - If you are updating using wifi, locate your iPad close to your router so you don't get a wifi dropout (can cause update corruption).

    The Home button is the round indented circle the with small square printed in it, at the bottom of your iPad' face above where you plug the iPad cable in.
    The Power (sleep) button is the the small rectangular button on the upper rim of your iPad at the right corner.
    to Reset your iPad:
    hold both the Home button and the Power button down for approx 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.  If a red slider appears, ignore it.  When the Apple logo appears let go promptly and wait another 30 seconds for your iPad to turn itself on.
    Then download the iPad manual, which has a picture of your iPad with arrows telling you what everythings is.
    To find the iPad manual go into iBooks on your iPad, select Store at the upper left, scroll down to Popular Collections, then scroll right to iOS 7 Guides, select this, then select the iPad User Guide and it will download for free.  Then you will have it on your iPad in iBooks to refer to whenever you need it.
    You can also read it online on the Apple website.

    See if anything here helps.
    If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
    Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

The iPads here take a sim card. We were advised by an Apple Store Employee at home that this model would work in Europe and that we could buy our service here.  That does not seem to be the case.    We have been told that we must invest in a modem at 200.00€ and then purchase a separate service plan for each country. We can use the free wifi wherever it is available but we cannot connect to the outside world when out of range. Is there anything else we can do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
    When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPhone 4s, double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

    I did this last night at 10pm thinking it would take 30 minutes to sync these 10,000 songs or so to my ipad to take up the 64 GB.  I went to bed because it was taking so long and woke up at 6am and it was just about to finish.  It finished around 630am.  So it took a good 8 hours to sync.
    I unhooked it and used it for an hour or so and then hooked it backup so that I could update a few apps on it.  When i did that it acted like it was re-adding all of those songs again and it took about 8 hours again to sync all the music.  Was that just a fluke because I made changes to the ipad?  or will it always calculate and then re-sync alllllllllllllllllll of those 10,000 songs?
