I have an iphone 4s gifted from a friend but its sim locked in my country
Hi..i have recently been gifted a used iphone4s from a german friend of mine but it is currently locked in the German carrier and i can't use it in my country..(i live in Greece) ..How can i unlock it and be sure that will remain unlocked ?? I have searched and found some stores that can do this job for me but i dont realy trust to pay 50-70 euros for the unlock without having any gurantee of money refund if not working...any1 can help ???
Only the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked with can officially unlock the iPhone or send the unlock request to Apple on the owner's behalf which is done with iTunes after receiving email notification the unlocking process is ready.
Your friend will probably need to help you with this.

I have purchased iPhone 3g device from my friend, I connected it to the iTunes to upgrade from 3.1 to 6.0 as many softwares were not being installed as iOS was not up to date. I am from Pakistan.The 3G cannot be updated to iOS6, it can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

You need to get the password for the iCloud account from your friend, or better yet ask your friend to do an erase all content and settings on the iPhone or restore the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone. -

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. You first have to subscribe to iTunes Match through iTunes on your computer and have your music library in iTunes uploaded/matched before you can enable it on your iOS devices (see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/). Without a computer you won't be able to use iTunes Match.

i have to restore my phone from back up but in order to do it i had to update my software. now that my software is updated there isnt enough room on the phone to back up. is there a way to only restore certain things from the backup like contacts?
Because it says it's incompatible when it can't be, I got hope. I get error messages all the time with my iPod and iPhone that it cannot sync and that 'this device is not capapble of connecting to iTunes' stuff. I literally forget that happened, plug it in again and it works, I later realize that iTunes made a mistake, they do that.

If you received you phone as part of the contract then surely from a legal pov your contract is with 3 not Apple unless you bought Applecare, if you bought your phone outright then put your 3 SIM into it then yes you'd have to visit an Apple store with your phone's purchase receipt.

I have the iPhone 5 and I keep getting a no sim card message. I have had my phone for over a year now so I know I have a sim card. How can I fix this because it doesn't let me get calls now.
Try resetting the phone. Hold the home and power lock button until the Apple logo appears.If that does not work, turn the phone off and take the SIM out and then put it back in.
If that still does not work, you may have a defective SIM, in which case you will need a new one from your carrier. -
