I have an iPhone 4S. How do I transfer music that I downloaded on my desktop to my iPhone?
I have an iPhone 4S. I downloaded music to my laptop computer and it is downloaded in iTunes on my laptop. I also have iTunes on my iPhone 4S, but my downloaded cd's do not appear on my iPhone in iTunes, and I don't know how to synch up, transfer, or link music such as the cd's I download to my laptop and get this music onto my iPhone. I can't find any buttonology on the website or in iTunes to get this accomplished.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the computer, then sync.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone to your computer - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases -

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is based on you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.

I have done all the settings for iCloud on both my PC (Windows 7) and my iPhone 3gs, and I had to research how to get music from my iTunes onto my iPhone through iCloud. I go to store > Purchased > Music > Not on this iPhone, but this only brings up songs I actually purchased on iTunes.
However, I have recently added music from my files on the pc and they do not appear in"Not on this iPhone" to download to my iPhone.
It is very important I find out how to get the other music onto my iPhone as I can no longer plug it into my pc since it blue screens the pc every time (No idea why)You need a third-party program. See:

All apps are tied to the apple id that it was used to purchase or download the app.

load the current version of I tunes on the laptop and sync the pod. Then sync the phone - you can select all or as much of the music you want to.
Also - if the music on the pod was purchased from the itune store in the first place, you should be able to redownload it to the phone for free, as long as you are using the same apple id that it was bought with. -
