I have an iphone - set it up myself through i-tunes.......
...my brother who lives down Myrtle Beach just purchased one also......he doesn't have internet access to his computer.......if he would send his i-phone to me ......how difficult/easy would it be for me to set it up through my i-tunes account and change my plan to family? He has an AT&T number also - a South Carolina number......will he be able to keep that number as well?
It shouldn't be very difficult at all, as the iPhones will have different #'s. All you should have to do is go through the activation process for both of them, but when it comes time in the process to keep the same # for the one phone, you would just need to be sure to follow the porting # directions carefully.

You need a completely different data plan for your iPad which you set up on the device itself and it is billed to a credit/debit card. You cannot share other plans and the iPad account will not appear on your iPhone or any other AT&T account.

why is it when you set a calendar event in outlook 2010 (whilst i am in UK) with a reminder alarm for 30mins prior to the appointment time) and have the iPhone set to keep the appointment time relative to the new country time that i have travelled to (this works OK), the alarm time is still relative to the UK time and not in sync with the local country time like the main appointment is.
Does anyone know the answer please.This has to do with the Time Zone Support selected in your phone. If you check in Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars, there is a setting for Time Zone Support at the bottom of the page under Calendars. If that is turned to off, the calendar should support the local time. Because time is set to Automatic (since you say the time is correct on the iPhone), it is reflecting the local time. That information comes from the carrier, not the iPhone itself. You can check, however the iPhone says that if you turn off the Time Zone support, it should reflect in the local time. Do a test, if possible, and see if that will do what you are asking.

Can I uninstall iTunes now I have my iPhone set to sync with iCloud?
I decided that I wanted to completely phase iTunes out of my life now that I really can't see a need for it. I now have my iPhone set up to automatically create a backup to the iCloud. This will obviously make it easier when buying a new iPhone or iDevice. However, I need to be sure that I'm safe before I uninstall and remove iTunes from my PC.
Does having my iPhone set to sync with iCloud in settings now mean that iTunes can be made redundant and mean I can safely now remove it from my PC? Will all of my apps and music be safely backed up too?I have reconsidered my situation and realised it would probably be more wise to hold onto iTunes. The only reason I wanted to get rid of it is because it uses up space on my hard drive unnecessarily. I also don't have any music on my iPhone that I did not buy via iTunes, is Match the only way to make sure your iTunes purchases are backed up to iCloud? When I buy a new iPhone and set it up the new way, I won't get my iTunes purchases automatically installed again?
My other issue is that I soon plan to do a fresh install of my OS when I purchase Windows 8. I will obviously lose iTunes and didn't want to have to go through the trouble of setting it up again if I really don't have to.
But I also today realised the only way to do a restore should anything go wrong and the only way to request a refund on a purchase is through iTunes, which makes it more worth while keeping around. -

Get a separate Apple ID for one of the phones. Or turn OFF iCloud contacts synching on the one you do not want contacts to synch.

Alright, it's fixed:
Switching Airplane Mode and/or "Show My Caller ID" OFF and ON or vice versa did work momentarily, particularly the Airplane Mode.
HOWEVER, I read someone's post on another website about disabling 3G!
Just recently my area received 3G (I know Pennsyltucky). So maybe the turnover had some effect on my phone. (AT&T did not admit to that when I called but...)
Anyways, go to Settings > General > Network > switch "Enable 3G" to OFF
It has worked for 24 hours, so keeping my fingers crossed.
Please note that this may only be a fix for the older 3G iPhones (I bought mine new right when the 3GS was released). Plus, our area just received 3G networking.

I have an I Phone 3GS. It has sufficient memory for all of my I Tunes Library. I am now losing songs on my I phone which previously were either downloaded to I tunes or puchased from I tunes. The were there and were playable.
I checked my computer and these songs still show up but I can no longer access them.
Please let me know how I can locate these tunes and restore them to both my computer and also my phone.Depending on what kind of computer you have, you're gonna need to put that backup in the appropriate folder or itunes is not gonna be able to see it for you to use.

Well, you use the different accounts such Phone Numbers, email addresses. And make sure that your iPhones have no receipient address in common, then you can avoid this issue.
I use iMessage on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, iPod touch.
Each of them has a individual address to receive messages, so they won't combine all the messages among all the devices.
Try this, if it doesn't work, tell me, I'll figure another way out. -

Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.

No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer. -

Help with what? There is the setting below(Settings - Messages) that allows you to send as SMS, if yours or other peoples imessage connection is not available. So if you don't want to send as text, just turn it off, but bear in mind they may never receive your message, especially if they stopped using iphones and moved to something else.

If the picture was in your photo stream you can sign into the iCloud account in Settings>iCloud and turn on photo stream to see/copy it. If it was only in the iCloud backup you can't restore just the picture; you have to restore the entire backup. Restoring a backup is all or nothing.

I have the iPhone 4. I recently switched from PC to IMac. I am trying to sync my iPhone, but iTunes will not let me add or remove anything. Do I need to change a setting since I changed computers? I try to add songs from my music into my phone section and it will not go... Plus the playlists on my phone are not updated on my iTunes phone on my computer. Its like it never updated. What am I doing wrong??
Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first. -
I have an iPhone 4S and the latest Apple TV, both setup with my email address as the Apple ID. I subscribed to iTunes Match so our music could be played from iCloud. I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID. When I try to turn on iMatch so she can play our music from iCloud on her new iPad it tells me that she needs a subscription to iTunes Match. Is it Apple's intent that we would need two iTunes Match subscriptions? If not, how do I accomplish what I want to get done?
The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

I have an iphone 4s with ios 6. I am trying to setup a new exchange email account. I need the back slash but it does not show up on the keyboard. I know it is supposed to be on the +key (and is for other apps) but for some reason it is not available when setting up an email account. Is this on purpose or am I doing something wrong?
I can tell you that with Sprint their coverage area isn't as good as Verizon or AT&T.
Are you sending these imessage while on wifi or cellular data? Also your husband would need to be in a good coverage area.
Usually when imessage is unavailable it will send it as a text. Does your husband receive your imessage as a text?
