I have an IPod model mb528ll, When I try to sync it gives me Error 54

I have an Ipod and lately when I try to sync it gives me an error code 54 and tells me it cannot sync. I have tried everything I could find in a couple of old forums but it has not helped. I have no idea where to start.

Look at the back of the iPod. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. The 2nd generation iPod touch is model A1288, and 3rd generation iPod touch is model A1318. If you have a second-generation iPod touch, the last release of iOS is can run is 4.2.1.

Try syncing songs one at a time to see if there is a problem song(s).
Do the songs play in iTunes on the computer?

Are yo getting a network timeout error?
Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

You probably didn't install iTunes from a user account with Administrator privileges.

Have you tried the usual cures such as resetting your phone or backing it up then restoring from the backup?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

I wanted to listen to some new music i added to my itouch, but when i looked, it said no content in the music section. So i connected to the computer and opened itunes. My device showed up and everything, my playlists and songs where still there, but my itouch still showed No Content. And the iTunes i am using now was not my original one because my old computer broke so i got a new computer and new iTunes, so this iTunes doesn't have all of my songs. i'm sick and tired of being afraid to update my itouch because it says it won't save my songs so when it updates my songs could be deleted. iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

I tried to sync my ipod to itunes but it said i needed to restore my ipod. So I restored my ipod deleting everything on it. I origionally planned to make a cd from my second library of all the songs that i wanted on my first library from the second library, but itunes won't add my songs to my library. Are you following the instructions here. You many not have the correct boxes/music checked.

Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.
