I have an ipod nano 6th generation and I am having serious problems updating it to version 1.2.
Hi all,
I just got myself an ipod nano 6th gen like in july and i love it. But i have been trying to download the update and it always says there is a error- the internet connection timed out yet i can be doing other stuff with the internet at that time, Facebooking, downloading, watching videos so it's not the internet and this has happened alot.
When i first got my ipod, I was using a windows machine now i have a macbook and i wonder if that could be the problem because under format on the ipod it says windows...
Has this happened to anyone else? I really need some help...
Also, I have seen alot of complaints about the software update over the internet from other ipod nano users, if there is anyone who didn't get affected please let me know, I don't want to download it to only make my ipod act up....
Thanks!!
Your nano would really have nothing to do with it at that point. It is really something between iTunes and whatever server out there on the internet that it is trying to connect to for the update.
Try posting this one in the iTunes forum, they might have a solution for you.

I have an iPod nano 6th generation and I downloaded 3 music videos but they won't play on my iPod. They only play on my laptop/iTunes. How can I get it to work? I know that my iPod should take music videos because there is a pre-made playlist called "Music videos". Can anyone help me please????
You can sync the music videos, but they won't play on your 6G Nano, because it does not support video playback. Sorry.

Good afternoon, I would like some information I have an ipod nano 6th generation and has the same one-year warranty is only 2 months of use, and it fell down and broke the glass of the display, I called technical assistance in Brazil and informed me that Brazil has no repair services for Apple, which was the basis of its price change in the exchange is not worth half the value of the product.
I wonder how I do to change this device without the expense of 50% for the same product is in warranty?
Thanks in advance.yes agree, plus a multinational seeing a product and has no technical assistance to do the maintenance then it's no use I buy a new product if it is damaged I will always be because it has no prejudice in this maintenance.
sorry but even more products coming from China to Brazil in technical assistance. -
I have the iPod nano 6th generation, and I have had it since Christmas 2011 so it isn't that old; recently I went to listen to my music and found that the volume increase button is stuck (basically it's like when you press the volume button down to increase the volume, except it is stuck down like that and won't come back up) but it was only stuck about 3/4 of the way down. For about a week this was ok, I just had to press the button harder to make it go down and increase the volume, but now it won't increase the volume at all and it feels and looks as though the button is stuck the whole way in, even when I press the button with some force. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could fix it or if I need to take it to an apple store for them to fix it?!
Sorry if the way I have explained the problem is confusing, it's difficult to explain but it's extremely frustrating. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Instead of taking it to the Apple store and paying $ the 99 service charge ( I did give Apple 139.00 13 months ago! for this ipod), I saturated the end of a q-tip w/ WD 40 and carfefully rubbed around the perimeter of the power button. I waited a half hour and then cleaned of the excess WD 40. This unstuck my power button. I guess the WD 40 dissovled all the dirt under and around (also the consrtuction of the buttons is done w/ double sided tape-- maybe a design issue) the button. A friend tried isopropyl alcohol w/ great results. Try this before you give Appple any more $$ or get a new ipod. It's been 6 wks. and my button functions perfectly,

I have an iPod Nano 6th Generation for just over three months and the down volume button is sticking. Does anyone have a recommendation for resolving?
Dont buy this model again, this is the most common problem and i have gone through 4 of these 6th gen nanos all with the same problem. You can find youtube videos that show you how to fix it yourself but you run the risk of breaking your ipod, also opening the ipod voids any warrently.

I have an ipod nano 7th generation and can not get it recognised by my Windows 8.1 laptop (it appears briefly on My computer, then disappears). This happened after I updated iTunes to the latest version. Does that have something to do with it?
Hello there, kiwilucea.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some in-depth steps for troubleshooting your issue:
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Keep in mind if you get to Step 12 Reinstall iTunes, those steps need to be followed exactly as outlined for the reinstall to be effective.

I have my ipod nano 5th generation and when i plugged to my computer it is recognized but i cant do anything. On the ipod all i can see is a blackscreen with the apple sign! How can i fix this?
Howdy Lumagofe,
I was thinking that you may need to reset the iPod Nano, outlined here How to reset iPod http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If that doesn't quite get the iPod going again, then it will need to be restored. Use this article to help with that Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339.
All the very best,

I have an iPod nano 2nd generation and I want to download the songs I have on it to my new computer, as my old one crashed with all the songs on it. I also got a new iPod and would like to transfer the old songs onto it. How do I do this?
Ok so sorry for clogging the community!! I figured it out - you have to copy your videos into itunes manually. I did that, synched and all good!

I pluged in my iPod nano 6th generation and i says "The iPOd cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019)" It synces like 20 songs out of 1117 songs and I tried almost everything I know to get it to synce. I restarted my computer, reset iPod and got the newest version. So please help!

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup
iOS: How to back up
If y can't make a backup then you will either have to:
- restore from an existing backup
- Contact a data recovery company
- Maybe after restoring via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos
Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS: iPhone Data Recovery - Wondershare Official
Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

i have a ipod nano and a iphone 3gs on the same computer. Can i put my ipod nano on my laptop and put my iphone songs on my ipod nano?
You can put the songs that on your iPhone onto your Nano as long as these songs are located in the iTunes library on the laptop. If they are not you will not be able to sync them to the Nano and you will not be able to copy them directly from the iPhone to the Nano.

I've tried a lot to get it to work, even using a new charger and putting it into Disk Mode. I really need help. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks.
Hi Dawson777,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're receiving the message "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly" when you connect your iPod nano to your PC. You have tried some good troubleshooting steps already, and you may want to review the additional steps in this article:

Pretty much I have a song on my iPod 5th gen nano that doesn't wanna play, its just one song every other song works. I click it and it show the thing when a song is about to play but then it instantly goes back to where you click on the song. And when I click on it in the songs list it skips immediately to the next song on the list. I have tried restoring my iPod but the song still won't work I've also tried removing the song from the library and the putting it back on iTunes but still no luck. What do you guys suggest I do?
Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.
