I have an ipod nano and i am giving an ipod shuffle as a gift. how do i get only the songs i want onto tthe ipod shuffle

i have an  ipod nano and i am giving a friend an ipod shuffle as a gift. i want to put selective tunes on the ipod shuffle from the 2000  songs i have on my ipod nano list. how do i accomplish that?

Syncing is from iTunes library to iPod.  You cannot directly transfer songs from one iPod to another iPod.
Also, since your friend does not own those song, you are describing a form of music piracy.  That topic is not appropriate for a discussion forum that Apple operates and maintains.

  • How do i transfer only the songs i want to my ipod nano?

I just got an ipod nano today and have installed iTunes and have charged my nano. Now iTunes seems to be putting songs in an iTunes music folder in my 'my music' folder by itself. I dont want every song from 'my music' to be put in the iTunes folder so how do i stop this and copy them there myself? And also on iTunes when i click on Library it comes up with hunderds of songs. Once my albums have copied i only want those and i dont want the other hundereds of single songs i have that are not part of real albums. So how do i make sure only the albums i want are put on the nano? Finally, how do i move music to the nano or does the fact the albums seem to be appearing in an iTunes music folder by themselves mean those are in my ipod?

Hi Richard, you're great to help out, but the checkbox thing is pretty convoluted, in my opinion.
I recommend using smart playlists to sync to iPod.
    Creating a Smart Playlist
You can choose to have a playlist automatically created from specific songs in your library using Smart Playlists. You can create a Smart Playlist that includes only certain types of music, songs with high ratings, or songs that match other criteria. For example, you could create a playlist that's no more than 5 gigabytes (GB) in size, and includes only your highest rated jazz songs.
Choose File > New Smart Playlist.
To have iTunes add songs that match specific criteria, make sure "Match the following condition" is checked, then make your selections from the pop-up menus.
For example, you might want iTunes to only add songs that are by a particular artist, or songs with at least a four-star rating.
To add additional matching criteria, click the Add button.
To make the playlist a specific duration or size, select "Limit to" and make your selections from the pop-up menus.
To include only songs that have a checkmark beside them in your library (and that match your conditions), select "Match only checked songs."
To have iTunes continually modify your Smart Playlist as songs are added to or removed from your library, make sure "Live updating" is selected.
To create your Smart Playlist, click OK, then name the playlist in the Source list.
Any songs in your library that match the settings you chose are added to the playlist. A Smart Playlist icon has a gear icon on it.

You must configure to sync only the specific items you want on your iPod by enabling the necessary settings from under the iPod's Summary and Music tabs.  Perhaps this article can provide more information and assistance.

How do I get all the songs from an album to show in the album view?  Currently, if an album lists the artist plus a guest artist, those are shown separately and appear to be two different albums on my iPod.  How do I get all the songs on that album together on my iPod?  If the album is a collaboration wtih many artists, each sond may appear as a separate album.

I used to have this problem.
First, you need to go back on iTunes
you need to go to each of the songs that are having this problem
Click the album so all the songs drop down
Right click the songs that have this problem
    Click ' Get info '
Click the tab that says " info '
The box that says ' album artist ' should probably be empty (correct me if I'm wrong)
Click it and type the artist of the entire album, NOT the songs guest artist
    as such,
    ARTIST
    JAY-Z Feat. Justin Timberlake
    ALBUM ARTIST
    JAY-Z
These should be separate for each artist
If you write the same album artists for each song by that artist, all the songs should be on 1 album

  • Family shares an itunes account and ALL songs loaded on my phone with ios 7. how do I get only my songs?

My family shares an itunes account and ALL their songs loaded on my phone with ios 7 upgrade. Previously, while I could SEE songs "Not on this iPhone" they did not reside on my phone.  How do I get only my songs?  Do I have to sync with my computer?  Help...

This is sad, as I am replying to myself. Upon further review I see that while all songs are LISTED, that are not actually there.  By going to Settings - iTunes & App Store - "Show All" I was able to "turn off" SEEING purchases not made on my phone.  Solved my own problem, but the way it looks in IOS 7 is confusing.

  • TS1382 I want to add multiples of the same song from different playlists to my ipod but iTunes wont let me. How can I override this so that I get the songs I want on my ipod?

I want to add multiples of the same song from different playlists to my ipod but iTunes wont let me. How can I override this so that I get the songs I want on my ipod?

You can sync those different playlists to the iPod, and the song appears on each playlist.  However, the song is stored on the iPod once.  What is the practical reason for wanting to store the same song file multiple times (and waste storage space) on the iPod?

  • HT1473 How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

I can think of only one reason a song would be "converted" while it is being loaded on a shuffle.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, depending on iPod model, go to the Summary or Settings tab.  There should be a setting there that says Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC (the 128 kbps part may be adjustable).  If that checkbox is checked, try unchecking it.
NOTE:  This setting may allow more songs to fit on the shuffle, but for any converted song, the sound quality will become inferior.  So I don't use it.

  • My ipod nano broke can I sync the songs I bought onto another ipod, like the shuffle?

I've got an ipod nano 6th generation, the power button broke, can I buy an ipod shuffle and sync
the songs I've already bought onto the new ipod?

Just an idea for using your iPod nano, even if the power switch is broken.  I don't have a 6th gen nano to try this, but it would work with my 5th gen iPod nano.
If you use headphones with remote control buttons on the cord, pressing the middle button should have the same effect as pressting the power button to make the iPod active.  It does on my 5th gen nano.  And it should automatically go into the power saving mode if you leave it alone (and not play anything) for a minute or two, which is the same as pressing the power button to "turn it OFF."
The current headphones that Apple sells
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD827LL/A/apple-earpods-with-remote-and-mic
works with the 6th gen iPod nano.  It also works with the 4th gen iPod shuffle, and sound better (to me) than the "stock" headphones the shuffle comes with.  Plus you'll have the remote control buttons on the cord to control playback and volume.

  • Really need help...can't get my old songs to reload onto my ipod.  The only songs that will load are ones I have purchased recently on my iphone.  I can see all my music in my library. Help please!

Hi everyone..I really need some help!  My computer went in for repair and cleaning.  The music in my itunes library at the time was backed up on discs.  I had not resynced my ipod touch with computer since that occurred in May of this year.  Since then I have purchased an iphone and some new music was purchased as well.  My phone has the new music (which is about 100 songs).  Yesterday I decided I was ready to get everything organized and put all my music on my ipod and my apps on my phone.  I have, as it would appear, reloaded all my music back into my library (a little over 1000 songs) as I can see the music and I can open and play it through itunes.  I have resynched my ipod touch.  All the music that was on my ipod touch has now been taken off and the only music that synched with it is the music I have purchased since I bought my iphone (only about 100 songs).  Can't get all music on my ipod at all.  Additionally, my account is not recognizing the touch as one of my devices.  Any help at all would be appreciated!

You can contact Apple and request a 1-time redownload of your lost purchases. Of course, they prefer you follow some of these recommendations on backing up your purchases.
I think the e-mail form on this page is the best place to start for requesting the replacement download.

  • I have an iphone 4s and ive downloaded an album from itunes, why am i unable to use one of the songs as a ringtone, ive been told i have to download a "ringtone" but i already have the album

can anyone tell me why if i have downloaded an album via itunes i am unable to use of the songs as a ringtone ? i have the iphone 4s

Songs and ringtones are different types of music files. The file extension of Songs is  mp4 and that of ringtones is  mp4r.  They are not interchangeable.  You need to download the ringtone you want or convert the file with a ringtone creator app of which they are many for free in the App Store.

  • I have 2 ITunes accounts and I am doing a restore to a new computer - how do I get the music in the right libraries - I'm going to XP to Windows 7

I am replacinbg a Windows XP machine with Windows 7.  I have all music backed up, but I'm not sure how to restore it to the new machine.  There is both my account and my husbands.  And we are not using the cloud - the music was physically on the old machine.  How do I do this?

It's a bit difficult for me to give advice on your specific issues, doing it "remotely."
If you still have your Mozy backup or your old computer, with its iTunes folder "as is" (the way you want it copied to the new computer), you may want to start over on the new computer.
The External drive method from the previously linked article provides the basic steps, except that you don't need to use an external drive as part of the process.  You can use something else as the "transfer vehicle" in place of an external drive.  For example, if you are able to setup File Sharing between the two computer, the network connection is the transfer vehicle.  If you use your Mozy backup, your online storage is your transfer vehicle.
So these are the restated steps, for your situation as I understand it.
Part 1: Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder - If all of your iTunes files (songs, podcasts, videos, etc.) were already in your iTunes Media folder (on the old computer), which is the default setting for iTunes, you don't need to do this step.
Part 2: Copy iTunes folder from the old computer - If your Mozy backup has a copy of the iTunes folder from the old computer, you have already done this step.
Part 3: Get iTunes ready on your new computer - If iTunes is already install on your new computer, you have already done this step.
Part 4: Back up any music that's already on your new computer - If you do not have any new songs or other media to the new computer's iTunes library that were not already on your old computer, you do not need to do this step.
Part 5: Copy music to your new computer - So, this is really your only critical part. iTunes should NOT be running.
    1. Locate the folder \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\ on your new computer.
    2. Drag that iTunes folder to the Desktop.  This just gets the existing "empty" iTunes folder out of the way.
3 & 4. In your Mozy backup folder, locate the equivalent iTunes folder from the old computer.  NOTE:  You want to locate the entire iTunes folder, not the iTunes Media folder inside the iTunes folder.
    5. Drag the iTunes folder from the Mozy backup folder to your My Music folder, to take the place of the iTunes folder that was located there before (that you dragged to the Desktop).
    6. Run iTunes.  It should use the iTunes folder you just copied to your My Music folder, and everything from your older computer should be there and accessible.
Part 6: Add preexisting music that was on the new computer back into the library - Same as Part 4.  If there were no new songs (or other iTunes media) on the new computer, you do not need to do this step.  You can also delete the iTunes folder you dragged to the Desktop in Part 5, Step 2.
As you can see, most of the work is in Part 5.  And to summarize the procedure in ONE sentence, you are basically replacing the "iTunes" folder on the new computer with the same folder from the old computer.

  • HT4527 I have a new computer and all of my music from itunes is not showing how can I get it back? My old computer is fried. I had 5 authorazations so I deauthorized all then authorized my new computer. Please help

I have a new computer and after I downloaded iTunes my music library is empty. I had to deauthorize my last computers since I was at the 5 limit. How do I get my music?

Copy all of your music from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries.

  • How do I get non-purchased music from iTunes onto my iPod?

I have this song that I created by mixing pieces and parts of other songs in Audacity. I made it into an iTunes compatible file and it is now in my library. When I checked it to be synced to my sister's iPod nano, it worked just fine. But now when I try to sync it to my iPod touch 4S, it's nowhere to be found. Even though when I downloaded the app Remote for home sharing it told me it was on the device, I have yet to see it anywhere. I even searched for it in the spotlight thing and it's definitely not on the iPod. I really need to get it on there for a school project.

Remote shows the library on your share computer.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)
    Try sync again.
