I have an Ipod touch 3rd generation and for some reason its not holding the battery charge is there something i can do to help keep the charge longer

i have a ipod touch and its not holding its charge I have charged it over night and then used it say for like an hour or two and the battery is drained .is there something I can do tohelp prolong the battery use.

Try to set it up "as new device" and don't use the latest backup afterwards. Check your setings as well: Apple - Batteries - iPod
If the problem persits, you may need a new battery.

  • I have an Ipod touch 1st generation which for some reason will not sync to my itunes account because of an 'error', though the error it speaks of is unknown.I have restored the ipod to original factory settings and it still will not sync. What should I do?

My title question pretty much explains it all but here are a few more details. I have tried almost everything I could think of before restoring my Ipod. I switched cords, turned it off before I plugged it in, I turned it on before I plugged it in, I manually tried to sync it, I turned of the computer and restarted, and after all that I finally restored it . But before all of this I was having other problums with it as well. It will freeze up when I use certain apps and also has a tendency to switch album covers, though now theres no album covers left on the ipod, the my itunes library is still fully intact... What should I do?

Sorry for  the typos, I hope my message still gets across!

    - Are you also having problems with the Home button?  Maybe it is sticking a little since to take a screen shot you depress the Home and Power/Sleep buttons at the same time.
    - I have not seen your problem discussed here before.
    - I would first try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next would be to restore the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Without knowing current status of the iPod:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1222 I have a Ipod touch 5th generation and for got my passcode and need to  change it but every time I connect it to itune I get a error message say it has tobe unlock before it can be restored

My wife and I brought a Ipod touch 5th generation for our grandson after which he let a bully at school take it from him and change the passcode. We retrieved the ipod from the young man with a fare amount of run around.  But now we are lockout. of it and when we look up how to reset it we where told to connect to itune, but when doing so I got a error message stating that the device had to be unlock before it could be restored. Is there another way that I may restore the Ipod?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

That sounds like the iPod is not connecting to your network.
    iOS: Connecting to Wi-Fi
    Try:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • I have an iPod Touch 3rd Generation, and I put a new passcode on it 3 days ago. All of a sudden, it did NOT recongize the passcode that was working the past few days as the passcode nor the previous one. What can I do to get back in without lost of info?

I do not want to restore it, as there is infomation on it I need. I haven't backed it up in a while(I know that's my fault), but this is the first time this has happened.

    Forgotten Screen-Lock Passcode
Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup
    iOS: How to back up
If y can't make a backup then you will either have to:
    - restore from an existing backup
    - Contact a data recovery company
    - Maybe after restoring via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos

Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

  • Hello, I have an iPod touch, 3rd generation and it's having problems.

I can only get my music to play in one ear bud, but it only plays in one earbud if it's pushed all the way in, if I pull it out some, it'll continue playing in both. I've tried several different headphones. It's quite frustrating because if I want to listen normally I have to fiddle with it and if it moves the slightest bit it stops playing. Can anyone tell me why it's doing this?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem (doubt that will work based on your specific symptoms)
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • I have a iPod touch 3rd generation and it will not turn on or charge.

This iPod, when ever I turn it on all I get is the apple logo. Then about five minuts later, it tells me to plug it up, you know, the low battery simbole. But the kicker is that it is always pluged up when it is doing this! Can you tell me how to restor this iPod? I've tried force recovery but I discontinued it from my account. I've heard if you plug up to a computer it will charge better, didn't work. Thanks for helping me. Cameron44

  • I have an ipod touch 3rd generation and the whole touch screen is not working.

I have a 32gb ipod which I bought for fifty dollars and when i bought it had a pretty baddly cracked screen but thing is it worked fine. Every part of the screen worked fine; it was as senstive where the screen was cracked as the areas of the screen that were not cracked. I dropped it a couple times from like two or three feet on two a hard wood floor about four times all it did was make the cracks on the screen a little worse. Then one day I dropped it from about a foot and now the whole touch screen is not working does anyone know why this is. They told me at the ipod store to get a new one would be 130 to trade mine in. But the thing is I very mechanically inclined and I am very good with electrionics; I was planing on buying the glass for fifty bucks and putting it on myself because I read how to do it and I am more then capapble of doing it. But now since the touch screen is now working; do I need a new screen along with a new glass? See the thing is because I think both those part cost 120 together. Which would not be worth me doing that when I can go to the ipod store and they would trade me a new one for 130 bucks. But the issue is, they told me at the ipod store they would have to look and see how damaged the ipod is to see if they will exchange it. My screen is severly cracked; also I have a dent that is a half inch long and 1/8th inch deep in the back of my ipod and its very scracthed up; do you thing an ipod store would exchange it in the condition it is in. Also has anybody had this problem before and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take it apart and fix it my self without buying any new parts.

If I were you, I would pay the $130 for a replacement. Then you can be sure that it has all the working parts it needs.

  • I have a Ipod Touch 3rd Generation and before I updated the latest Itunes, it was recognized by my computer fine.  Once I updated Itunes to the latest version, my computer no longer recognizez my Ipod and will not download a driver for it.
