I have an IPod touch model MB528C and cannot get it to update past 4.2.1 operating system. Is that as high as it will update for operating system.
I have an iPod touch model MB528C and I can't get it to update. It has version 4.2.1 on it now, is this the most recent update it will accept.

I can't believe Apple won't update my "old" iPod touch...and I can't use most of the apps offered either!!
Ya know, I don't know about the rest of the Apple users of the world, but I am sick to death of Apple and their ********! You spend a lot of money and before you know it, your device is "antiquated"....NEVER,NEVER, NEVER WILL I HAVE AN APPLE PRODUCT AGAIN. APPLE JUST PLAIN STINKS!!!...Not to mention they are getting rich all the sweat of third world countries. Anlyone with a social conscience should boycott Apple!
Really?
How is it different than all other software driven devices/tvs/cars/computers/dvd players/etc
This is completely normal.

my ipod touch is not this updating its version, 3.1.3 not want to leave, it left me very disappointed, I was wondering if you guys can tell me what the problem is or what I do, and if it is even possible to upgrade my IOS system . thank you
There is no problem.
You have the first gen ipod touch, released 7 years ago.
It can only go to 3.1.3. -
I don't want to lose all my apps but I want to upgrade my iPod. Is there any other way to upgrade it but not lose all my apps, and if so what is it?
- Update on the computer you sync with that has allthe apps and other synced media in its iTunes library.
- If on another computer
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like on of those discussed here:
newer copy
- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup. The iPod will be updated too.
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

I have an Ipod Touch 5th gen and I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium. Unfortunately, everytime I plug in my ipod, my screen resolution changes and i go down to an 8 bit from 32...on its own. I can I prevent this from happening every time I plug it in to my pc?
All I can suggest is:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

You can also try rolling back the driver for your video card. -

I have an iPod Touch 3rd gen and while it is recognized by my laptop with Win 8.1, it won't sync with iTunes. It worked fine while my laptop had Win 8 but after the update, it quit syncing. Strange though, I downloaded an app directly to my iPod and when I connected it to my laptop again (for recharging if nothing else), iTunes updated itself by including the new app. I also tried syncing wirelessly. Also unsuccessful. I'm about ready to change to an alternate to iTunes if I can't get this situation fixed. Anyone else have this problem and/or a solution?
See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
- I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I have an Ipod Touch (4th Generation) and FaceTime isn't in my settings or shows up as an app. I don't have Restricitions. I want FaceTime back so how do I get it? I searched my whole Ipod for FaceTime and there weren't any results. I used Voice Control and it said that I had to enable FaceTime before I can make video calls.
Are you saying that you do not have the Restriction set that hides FaceTime?
Did you have FT before on this iPod?
iPods officially sold in one of the middle Eastern countries that prohibit FT will not have FT and there is no way to get it on the iPod.
Otherwise:
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. I hope this was helpful reply if you have any questions :) good luck
