I have an old iPhone 3Gs with software version 4.3.5, I am trying to use it again, and it works fine, but I have not been able to update the software. Every time I try, I get the following message:
"there was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone, the network connection could not be established". This happens even though I have a working internet connection.
Besides that, all the other functions work properly, even synchronize apps and library.
Will I be able to update the software?

I keep getting an error message saying my network connection has timed out when I try to download the iphone 5 software to my iphone 4 while it's connected to my laptop. Then it says make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active. The download gets all the way to the end (takes about an hour mind you), and keeps timing out. It's error 3259. FYI, I have the latest version of iTunes.
Security software on your computer/router is the usual cause of this. Turn off/disable or uninstall all anti-virus software & firewalls. Try again.

Yep, me to exactly the same problem, the error message keeps telling me to check my internet connection or try later. Nothing wrong with my internet connection. Is it an apple server problem?

After loading Lion, I have been getting an error message "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type "file:" are not supported." There does not seem to be any actual problem with internet connectivity, but it is persistent and annoying. Any idea of its cause and treatment?

Error message: There was a problem connecting to MobilMe. The request timed out.
I've never had an account with MobilMe. MobilMe is not listed as an account in iPhoto. All software on iMac is up to date. I'm running OSX 10.6.8. While working in iPhoto, editing or trying to upload photos to FaceBook from iPhoto I get the error message: There was a problem connecting to MobileMe. The request has timed out.
For some reason iPhoto wants to communicate with MobilMe, even though I've never had an account.
I worked with ExpressLane (case # 231899367) thinking it was a MobilMe issue). It was a dead end. Any suggestions to remedy this annoyance would be appreciated. Thanks. ILIJA.Strange, I got this error for the first time last night. I have a 27" iMac (late 2010 model); with latest Aperture. I recently added a Flickr account (have had a Facebook account on there for some time). I was uploading some to my flickr account, and noticed that even though the "use actual size" setting was used, it was uploading tiny thumbnails and not the full version.
It was after this, that I got that error. I haven't tried it again, as I'm now on my macbook at work. Will try again tonight.
I've also, NEVER had a .mac account, so no possibility of it being a legacy account. -
Restore error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software"
I am trying to restore my iPod and keep getting this message when I try: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." HELP! What do I do next???
Windows XPHi BigIRv,
Actually, a "requested resource" error message (which I believe you are getting) most of the time has to do with iTunes having a problem with connecting to your iPod, rather than the iPod software update server (although a more rare possibility of this error message could occur in that sense).
See my post here, which contains a couple of things to try if you have that error message:

Hello, I have the usual issue to use AcroExch.PDDoc/AcroExch.App/AcroExch.AVDoc objects in Visual Basic (MS EXCEL). On my company's machine I have Acrobat X and everything works fine. I am looking for the cheapest solution to get the stuff running on another machine... is there any way to do that with the Acrobat SDK, or do I need to purchase a full version of Acrobat XI ($$) ?
The Acrobat SDK is nothing by itself. It is just information on how to automate Acrobat - just as the Office SDK doesn't include Office, but is for people who already have purchased Office but want to automate it.
These automation things are MARKETING TOOLS FOR ACROBAT. Consider this and the technical limitations make a lot more sense.
So, yes, you need to buy Acrobat. Standard is cheaper than Pro. -

I keep getting an error messahe that says
There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with type "file" are not supported
Any ideas?Actually, in my case, turning off Time Machine didn't work. I had the same problem. We definitely traced it to Time Machine. The "Fix" was this: plugged in and designated different external HD as Backup volume. Then unplugged it and plugged in the original disc (after testing in in a different machine) and now the computer recognized it and error message stopped popping up. The Apple tech was as puzzled as I as to why this worked, but perhaps, forcing the machine to re-recognize it (or maybe even, gettting it recognized by a different machine first) somehow worked some magic.
