I have an old Mac OS X 10.6.8. I want to upgrade to IOS.7 or higher, Can I install it in the old computer
I have an old Mac Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.8. Can I upgrade to IOS 10.7 or higher in thei Old computer since I cannpt run the new Turbo Tax I just bought
Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7. All Mac Pros(not MacBook Pros) can run at least 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

I've got an old IPhone 4 (not a 4S) and I want to upgrade to IOS 5 not 6 or 7. Is this possible?
Apple only allows updating to the current version of iOS for the device. For the iPhone4 and later that is currently iOS7.0.4.
There is no reason to not upgrade to the current version. -
I own two I macs. I bought and installed Lion on one computer. How can I install Lion on the other compute without additional charge?
If it's the same email address Apple registration on both, use the 2nd computer and go to the App Store and find Lion. If different, use the second computer but log in to the App store with the address you used on the first go round. The buy button should instead say install. Then go through the same process again.

I have a Macbook with 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and want to upgrade to Mountain Lion. When I try to download the program I get a message that says Mountain Lion is not compatible with my computer. Please help.
ML requires one of these:
You should verify if you qualify. -
My Mac Book Pro had a split drive with Windows Microsoft Access on it and it was removed when Mavericks installed. I need this so how can I go back to the old system?
Restore from the backup you had prior to installing Mavericks.
However, the upgrade should not have altered your partition scheme. Did your erase and format the drive prior to upgrading? -
In addition to my iMac, I have a Power Mac G4 (10.4.11 Tiger) which of course is pre-Intel. I can boot up and use for about 5 minutes before the mouse freezes. I believe something is
overheating. What would that be - so I can have repairs done? The machine is the Digital Audio version, M7627LL/A and Serial Number XB******KXQ.
<Edited By Host>Hello USME,
'Tis a common problem on old Macs.
Do as Allan says: open the door and blow out all the dust bunnies. Canned air from Wal-Mart or Radio Shack can be handy (though sort of expensive) especially for blowing through the back of the power supply. A cool Mac is a happy Mac.
Be sure your Mac can breathe. The air intake is on the bottom of the case, so be sure a deep pile rug or too many papers on your desk are not blocking the air supply.
Feel the power supply and the processor with your hand. They should be warm but not hot; if you have to move your hand away, that's too hot!
Check the fan on the power supply, and on the processor if it has one. Take a flashlight and peer in the back of the (Mac) case through the grille; make sure the fan is turning. If it's not, the power supply won't work for long.
Fans are not considered serviceable, though they will succumb to mechanics of determination. A CPU fan is easy and straightforward.
A fan replacement will not cure an already damaged power supply; the PS may already be done for. Used power supplies for a DA are hard to come by, and not especially cheap when found (c.$50). An entire working DA or Quicksilver may often be found for under $100 on eBay, and swapping in your HD is easy and simple... this might be cheaper and more expeditious than repairing an expired DA. Replacing a power supply is fairly easy, but it's a nuisance and requires a 2mm Allen head wrench in addition to the usual #2 Phillips head screwdriver.
In my experience, power supplies and CPUs are about equally likely to fail. There are a few other possibilities, but they are not nearly so common.
Good luck!... Jon -
I have a 2 year old macbook pro os x 10.5.8 want to upgrade to lion
I have a 2 year old macbook pro os x 10.5.8 want to upgrade to lion
Mountain Lion Requirements:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5444
App Compatibility:
http://roaringapps.com/
Check both above first. Then call Apple Sales & have them send you a retail Snow Leopard Disk(US $29)...there is no download. Update to 10.6.8, then go to Mountain Lion or Lion if you like(US $19).
Don't know if Apple is still selling Lion...you'll have to ask Apple sales when you call. You need Snow Leopard to get the Mac app store where you can then purchase Mountain Lion...Lion is no longer available in the store. -
I have an iPad 2 and used old Apple ID for iBook app; now it wants to upgrade iBook but it is "stuck" on my old ID, yet I already created a new ID but it won't let me update the App. I have everything backed up on my MacBook so if I delete iBooks on my iPad and retrieve the App under my new ID and then sync with my MacBook, will I still have all of the books, etc.?
Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong. -
Hi, I have an e-mail account no longer valid, I need to move my contacts to a new e-mail account and delete the old one. How, help?? Phone is a 3GS
So the answer to my question is yes - from an old Exchange account that was provided by a previous employer.
If so, you can't.
You can't merge or transfer contacts that were synced over the air with an Exchange account with another account, and the same for syncing the contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer. This is how most employers want it. -
I have an older I Mac operating system 10.6.8 and want to upgrade. I've been told that the only upgrade available for my machine is 10.7.5. On what website can I find this upgrade or how do I find this upgrade on the Apple website?

The apple store is so unhelpful. I have an iMac computer operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I want to upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion operating system so I can work with the iCloud on my computer and download my emails. I can't seem to purchase this on-line as it keeps telling me to go to the app store. I haven't got the app store on my computer as I am told I need iCloud for which I need the new operating system, which I can't download or purchase as I am sent back to an instruction telling mee to go to the app store icon.
How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'

Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

I have two hard drives on my mac 10.5.8 power pc and hear the clickking sounds of the first hard drive and think that it may be dying, can I install everything on the other hard drive also and wait for the first drive to die before i use the other drives? Or, what is the best way to handle this?
I do not know what you are waiting for.
I'd make a backup of your important stuff before cloning the entire disk.
Carbon Copy Cloner will copy your startup drive to an external firewire drive. You can boot from the external drive to verify that you have a good clone. When you upgrade your existing startup drive, you can at any time boot from your external drive and go back to your existing system.

SuperDuper is the wildly acclaimed program that makes recovery painless, because it makes creating a fully bootable backup painless. Its incredibly clear, friendly interface is understandable, easy to use, and SuperDuper's built-in scheduler makes it trivial to back up automatically. And it runs beautifully on both Intel and Power PC Macs! -

I have photoshop CS2 on a mac 10.6.8 OS. I want to upgrade to Yosemite OS (10.10). Will photoshop work on the new OS? Is there an upgrade available if needed? Can I reload it if needed?
Photoshop was the last version compiled for the PPC cpu, not Intel. 10.6.8 kept it going with the Rosetta emulator, gone since 10.7.
So, no CS2 won't work under 10.10
CS6 (permanent license) or Lightroom and Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan is the way to go.
