I have an older IPOD along with a newer Shuffle.

Can I manage both on the same computer without messing up what music is on which IPOD?  Also, I had mislocated my 20G IPOD for a few years and now have relocated.  How do I upload the old songs to the new computer without access to the old computer?

You can connect as many iPods (or iPhones and iPads) as you want to one iTunes library on one computer.  They can be connected at the same time.  In the iTunes sidebar, each iPod appears separately, under DEVICES.  iTunes treats each one as a separate device, so you can set them up as desired.
Syncing of content generally goes one way, from computer to iPod.  You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your current computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.
