I have an older Mackbook, where it's Mac OS X version 10.5.8, and my teacher at my college wants me to update to the newest software version, how would I go about updating my Mackbook completely? He said I'm missing a few generations of software.

You can update to 10.6 by purchasing a Snow Leopard Retail Disc for ($29 USD) providing you mac meets the minimum requirements: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575. After upgrading to Snow Leopard and running software update to 10.6.8, you can upgrade to the latest version of OS X, 10.7, by purchasing it from the app store ($29 USD), providing your mac meets the minimum requirements to run Lion: http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html.

My iPhone 5 is not allowing updating to the newest iOS version 6.1.3. I missed doing the 6.1.2 update before 6.1.3 was available. It wants to install the 6.1.2 update, but, once I agree to the terms it tells me I can't because I am not connected to the Internet. It is connected to the net, as proved by surfing and iTunes, both by LTE and wireless. I have tried both a full shutdown as well as the most of the easy tricks to, like with apps updates, to get it to refresh. Has anyone had this issue since the 6.1.3 release, and is there an easy way to resolve the conflict.
The next iOS update won't change this.
Are you able to transfer anything else from your iTunes library and computer via the iTunes sync process such as a movie, TV show, podcast, audio or print book, apps, and photos from your computer?

I have an IPAD 2 that I purchased two years ago. I would like to get a more current version of the IOS so that I can download games, etc. The instructions say to go to General and select Software Download. I do not have that option listed in my General area. Does anyone know how I should go about getting the more current IOS? Also, will the download hurt my IPAD. No. The Download is the operating system. It won't damage it because its released by Apple and signed to work on it.
It will update the Operating system to the newer version.

I'm trying to find out information on how to go about helping my sister to register her new nano and load on CD's and such. I have a nano and already know how to do this but she is from CA and we want to load it here on my computer. Or you can create a proxy license file. A proxy license file is a two line file, where the first line is the first line from the server license file. The second line is USE_SERVER. For example

The advantage of using a proxy license file is that if the licenses change on the server you do not need to update all the clients. In both cases you would place the license.dat

My iphone 4S has been updated to the newest software and isn't detecting internet, although sometimes it connects for a few seconds and then disappears again. I have tried everything it has said on the internet about this and it still isn't working.
Ok I think it's a problem with my router. I went to my cousin's house and the Wi-Fi worked there perfectly. I was even able to download many apps. So I guess my router probably can't take in more connections. Oh well thanks anyway.

Just updated to the newest version of iTunes, when connecting it prompts me to update my iPhone to the newest version of IOS; however, when I hit download it says I have purchases that need to sync but where and how do I do this on the newest version? It isn't doing it automatically and I am unable to find the sync button that was available on previous versions of iTunes. I would hate to think that I'm going to lose the many purchases that I've made, someone please help!

When I update some of my addons, everytime I open firefox information about update is in new tabs, even "welcome to firefox" is always there in new tab! It's very annoying!Ok I found a solution that worked for me, I simply dragged the user.js and the user.js.BAK to the desktop, before that I had done the same with the prefs.js and prefs.js.BAK, but that didn't help, so it's apparently the user file that was an error with.

I just updated to the newest software and all my apps were deleted. I have tried syncing on itunes but it doesn't work. Help!
Try ReSynching to iTunes. If you set up sync to the cloud, turn that off, resync to your PC. That should bring them back. You can then turn on sync to cloud again.
You may, however, want to re-think that. There is a lot of chatter about the cloud being the source of some if not many of the battery issues. Personally, I decided to rurn the cloud off until the Battery-gate issue is resolved.

I have a short homemade film burnt onto a DVD, I now want to import the movie into IMOVIE on my MacBook Pro so that I can edit it, how would I go about doing this? Welcoming any guidance. Thanks in advance.
1. Insert your DVD.
2. Open Disk Utilities (Application> Utilities> Disk Utilities). Highlight your DVD and press "New Image" on the upper toolbar.
3. Choose the location you would like to save your DVD from the drop down menu, "Desktop" is usually the best choice. Then click Save.
4. When finished, your DVD icon will appear on the desktop with the .dmg extension.
5. With iMovie open, double-click the .dmg file you created to mount it. The iMovie import window will then appear asking you to choose. Click Import All and wait for the Import to complete. -
I ran the latest Numbers update and now I cannot open several of the Numbers files I created and saved previously. When I try, a box appears that says I need to update to a newer version of Numbers. I ALREADY updated to the newest version!!!! Any suggestions?

When you upgraded Numbers to the most recent version, the Mac App Store kept the old version in case you need it in the future. Your problem is that you are opening the old version by mistake instead of the new one.
To fix this, open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar and drag the new Numbers version (the one with the new icon) to the Dock. By doing this, you can access to the new Numbers version easily, so you will not open the old version by mistake anymore. Also, I recommend you to open the documents after opening Numbers. The same applies for all other iWork applications.

Does anyone have an older version of the firmwre, as Cisco has conveniently removed all older releases of the firmware and only has a utility so I can not load the software via the router.You would need to contact SBSC and ask for firmware 1.1.14.
