Obviously, syncing an iOS device with iTunes over USB is still supported in Mavericks. Calendar and contact syncing with iTunes is no longer supported. That has nothing to do with your problem.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

HT1386 Since the new update I have been unable to sync my iTouch with iTunes

A month ago I downloaded some new music and synced it to my iTouch no problem. It seems like since the new update I have been unable to sync BOTH of my iTouch's to my iTunes. When I connect the iTouch to the computer it shows up but not in iTunes. I have redownloaded iTunes with no help. It just keeps showing up as if nothing is attached.

Sync error code (-54)

I get the following error code when attempting to sync my 5s on my HP computer running Win 8:
-The iPhone 5s cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54).
I purchased AppleCare when I bought this phone and after multiple phone calls with AppleCare the last contact I had, I was told "We will review the diagnostic files you uploaded, and I will call you back." That was three weeks ago, and after sending two follow up emails, now the supervisor at AppleCare has not and does not call back to resolve. (I think AppleCare is no longer the value it once was).
Has anyone else had the sync error code (-54)?
How did you resolve it?

Are you using a Mac or PC? And, remember iOS 7.0.4 is currently the latest iOS version. You may need to update iTunes.

You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)

Since iOS5 upgrade, I have a lot of sync errors

Hello all,
I really need help here. Here is the story.
1. Plugged in my iPhone to upgrade to iOS5.
2. I did a backup first and everything went ok
3. I click on update and the process started and everything went fine until...
For some reason, when the restore process was going on for apps, instead of re-uploading only the apps I had installed on my iPhone, it decided to re-install absolulty everything I ever downloaded on the App Store. Well, all apps that I have in iTune. I don't have all of them installed on my iPhone. This resulted in the fact that the restore kind of bugged because my iPhone was full now (no more free MB space). The process was stopped and their was nothing I could do.
Question: Why... oh why iTunes decided to re-install all of my apps that I had deleted on my iPhone.... Previous sync on my PC never did that.
I am not sure why, but I decided to unplug the usb cable during the restore. I didn't really know what to do else. iTunes was bugged because of this anyway.
I then went in the Apps section of iTunes and manually deleted every old apps I don't use, so it won't try to re-sync them to my iPhone.
But now, every time I try to sync my Apps to iPhone, I alwas have (-50) or (-53) errors. Their is absolutly nothing I can do. I tried to Re-install again iOS5 fresh install, but it doesn't work, same error that comes again.
So I have iOS5, but I am unable to sync nothing from my PC and I tried to google those errors and all information I had was to uncheck the "Sync Photos" or "Sync Ringtones" and check again. Problem is that nothing is checked in my iTunes now but to Sync Apps.
I really need help and I don't know what to do.

Again, where are you seeing the date?
Select one of the imported photos, type Command + i and check in the iPhoto Info drawer to see what the EXIF capture date is for those photos.
If the date is correct then you're looking at the file created or modified date and not the EXIF capture date that's embedded in the image file itself.

Did you ever use tinyumbrella to hack your phone? It may have altered your computer hosts file, blocking access to Apple servers (gs.apple.com)
"Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network."
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. FollowiTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Itunes sync error code -54

I have an IPAD2, IPOD, 5S and 6....each time I connect to Itunes I get sync error and the code is 54.
Code is not listed on Apples Support page of various codes.
Uninstalled Itunes, restarted Windows PC, dowloaded and reinstalled ITunes, same issue.
