Did this shuffle previously work with this computer, and it does not now for some reason? Or, are you trying to use this shuffle with this computer for the first time?
If it's a new shuffle, be sure to completely insert the USB cable's connector into the shuffle's headphones jack. The fit may be tighter than expected, especially when brand new.
When you connect to the computer's USB port, does the shuffle's light do anything?

You cannot get Siri on an iPhone 4. You can install the Google search app, which has voice recognition, but it can only search, it cannot control the phone. The iPhone 4 does have Voice Control, which is only for basic phone functions.

I have an old charging cube that I purchased with my iPod Photo several years ago. It has various adapter plugs to use in other countries some of which have 220 volts. In the USA we use 110 volts.

If the dock cannot take adapters, I strongly advise you to not use the dock (if you want to keep it), without creating support for the iPhone. It will break; had this happen to an iHome with my 5th gen iPod, due to the lack of accessories to support the new iPod profile. -

A 1G can only go to 3.1.3

There are other ipods hooked up on this one, but this one won't work. it hasn't had an update in a while, and it won't let me update it because it won't connect to itunes, or show up on the computer.
