I have been looking at the Macbook pro.

I have been looking at the Macbook pro and on the UK website and its 999 pounds, then I saw it on the US website for 1199 dollars which converts to £772 so what the **** should i get it of the us website?

It would seem that you have discovered that like all manufactured goods these days, they generally cost more when bought in a country other than the original manufacturer's country of origin.  Items produced in the US sell for more overseas in the UK due to UK import taxes and differences in currency exchange rates in the international markets.  So the US website shows the price for US purchasers and the Apple UK website shows the price for UK residents.
Hope this helps

As I said, I don't use Time Machine, so it'd be best to wait for an "expert" answer, but, with my very limited knowledge, I'd say: probably not - so, for now, I'd suggest you read up on Time Machine:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&src=support_site.home.search&local e=en_US&q=time%20machine
And, you might be attracting more knowledgeable answers if you were to post this question in the Time Machine Forum (part of the Snow Leopard forums).

  • I have been looking for the bookmark fix that allows you to bookmark the url in multiple bookmark folders

I've been busy the past hour looking for the update for bookmarks so we can add a bookmark in multiple folders without having the first bookmark automatically being deleted when adding the same bookmark to a different bookmark folder.

There's no "update" for that, it's a matter of learning a different method of saving a bookmark that bypasses the feature which identifies duplicate bookmarks.
There 5 ways to save a new Bookmark in Firefox: <br />
    1. {Ctrl + D} <br />
    2. Right-click and select Bookmark this Page. <br />
    3. Bookmarks > Bookmark this Page <br />
    4. Double-click the Star that is on the right side of the Location bar. <br />
''4a. (A single-click on the Star will save the new Bookmark to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder.)'' <br />
'''''This last method will allow duplcates to be saved.''''' <br />
    5. Left-click and drag the website image ''(Favicon)'' in the URL bar (or on the active tab) into the Sidebar view of Bookmarks {Ctrl + B} <br />
'''or''' to the Bookmarks menu bar item ''(the drop-down will open)'' and then onto the drop-down listing of your bookmarks and folder of bookmarks ''(folders will open)''<br />
'''or''' onto the Bookmarks Toolbar <br />- the new bookmark will be saved when you release the left mouse button
Firefox bookmarks have worked like this since Firefox 3.0 was released, back in June 2008. The [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/categorizing-bookmarks-make-them-easy-to-find?esab=a&s=bookmark&r=7&as=s Bookmarks Tags feature] was introduced in Firefox 3.0 to allow the user to categorize their bookmarks more easily than saving the same bookmark into separate folders.

  • I have been looking at the Mavericks OS comments.

Is it possible the people that have had problems are updating from older versions, such as 10.6.  instead of the later 10.7..'s ?
And the speed of their internet would cause crashes and glitches in the program?
I would like to do the upgrade, but as I've had no issues with what I've got, I'm worried about installing the new operating system.
Any clues on why some have had terrible results and others love it?
I am currently using 10.6.8 and have a mid to slow ADSL connection.
Should I or should I not???

Actually, I have both the old Pages and Numbers  (from iWork 09 retail install DVD) as well as the new stand alone, free to download, Pages and Numbers from the app store (free on new Macs or when you have the older retail version installed - the new version was offered automatically to me free of charge; you must have Mavericks installed). The Pages 4.3 (from iWork 09) works perfectly well with mavericks - I am using it since I've decided to ignore the new version for the time being.
You may have an older iWork version? Or possibly Appleworks? Those are no longer supported.
The new version of Pages has lost some functionalities, so, after testing it, I've decided to ignore it until Apple puts back some features. If you do use the new version, be advised that you cannot open a doc in the old version once you've changed it in the version. In any case, both version co-exist on my MBP; installing the new version will not "update" the old one - it is installed as a totally different version.
@ Lex Schelling: Sorry, I can't agree; when I first installed Lion>ML>Mavericks, my MBP was sluggish as he.. - and that was before I ever tried to do any video work. As soon as I doubled the RAM to 8 GB, things were suddenly smooth. The behavior didn't change with the OS upgrades even though Mavericks supposedly has better memory management; Apple sent a reply to my bug report explaining that the increased memory usage was expected due to the 64 bit architecture. My personal, unqualfied opinion: I don't think it's efficient memory management when kernel_task takes up to 1 GB continuously, leaving you with only 3 to work with or, put another way, using 3 GB when the only apps open are a browser and Mail. But, that's my personal (and, as I said, totally unqualified) opinion.

  • I have been looking for The Hunger Games Books, but cannot find them to buy and download on from ibooks, are we limited to only certain books, or am I missing something

Am trying to find the Hunger game books but cannot located them on ibooks, there is one in Italian but I need English, how else can i find these books? even under the author they do not come up?

When you cannot find what you want at the iBookstore, the fix is to try one of the other ebook sources which also have free ereader apps for you device, like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or Googlbooks.

  • Windows guy looking hard at MacBook Pro

I have been looking at Macs for a long time and find myself in need of a laptop computer. I do 70-80% of my work in Photoshop/Dreamweaver/InDesign small amount in Illustrator. I currently run XP-Pro on all my computers. Vista isn't looking very attractive to me.
A lot of my work is database stuff and I need to use programs that aren't available on the Mac. Paradox, Access, Alpha5. I also use Corel x3 and I need to run Street Atlas USA.
I have been looking at the VMWare's solution for running XP applications and it looks really good from what I have seen.
    I guess my questions are:
    1. How much of a MacBook Pro do I need? I can't afford to max it all the way out.
    2. Will the USB ports be available to Street Atlas USA when running under VMWare in OSX for my GPS?
    3. Maybe there is a Mac program that is superior to Street Atlas USA?
    4. I use a Spam software program on my XP by Cloudmark that is a really nice Spam killer program, it isn't available on Mac, is there a really good Spam program for Mac?
I have many more questions, but that should be enough for now.
    Thanks,
    Kirk

    Kirk,
Given that you will be using your MBP to do mostly graphics-related things, I do think the 17" would be best for you, and further, that the Hi-Res display would be best. There are 4 options: Standard Resolution Matte, Hi-Res Matte, Standard Glossy, Hi-Res Glossy. While the glossy displays have more "wow" factor, the mattes have truer colors. Most graphically-inclined users will lean toward matte for the truer colors. My recommendation is for the 17" Hi-Res matte.
The power adapter for the Macbook Pro is the "Magsafe" adapter. The "brick" is about 3 or 4 inches on a side, and about an inch thick. Integrated into one corner of the brick is the AC power supply; it comes with 2 interchangeable, molded connectors that fit to the brick, and become the corner: one provides a 6-foot AC cord with 3-prong plug; the other has a flip-out (duck bill) 2-prong plug (for plugging the brick directly into the outlet). The cord on the DC side is phone-line thin, also about 6 feet, and has the Magsafe connector on the end. On the brick, there are 2 flip-out arms onto which you can wind the this cord for storage. The design of the entire setup is brilliant.
You'll get the most mileage out of a Brenthaven bag for your Macbook Pro. It has WAY more than enough storage space for the Magsafe adapter and much more. Brenthaven has designed these bags as complete transport solutions. In other words, not to be added to what you already have, but to completely replace it. For example, the "Pro" bags include a dedicated area for items typically found in an attache case (integrated document dividers, accordion-style storage, miscellaneous pockets, etc.). My bag accommodates: My MBP, the power adapter, my Bose QC2s, my iPod, my digital camera, external hard drive(s), my cell phone, a USB hub, optical media, all of my "office-type" items (pens, pencils, documents, etc.), plus all of the cables, connectors, and adapters I might ever need to use all of the above.
2 GBs is going to be more than enough RAM for most users, most of the time. When running Windows concurrently with OS X (in virtualization), it becomes much less likely that 2 GBs will be enough, but not certain. It's best to see how things go for you, then move one way or another accordingly. If it becomes clear that 2 GBs is not enough for you, a 4 GB "kit" can be had economically.

  • Where is the User Guide for the MacBook Pro 13-Inch 2012?

    Hi there,
Trawling the Apple Support Manual pages (http://support.apple.com/manuals), I couldn't seem to find the correct User Guide.. even searching with my Serial Number.
I am looking for the MacBook Pro 13-inch (2012 10.8.2 Mountain Lion) User's Guide.
Searching with my Serial Number, the results are:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - Quick Start Guide
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - Important Product Information Guide
Searchng manually, all i can find are:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) - User Guide
MacBook (13-inch) - User Guide... which is the OS X v10.4 Tiger version
Is there not a "MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - User Guide" ????
    Thanks,
    Chris

I have already worked out that there's no full User's Guide.
Why would a new mac User, like myself, want a Quick Start Guide (which came in the box), and then not want access to an actual full User Guide.
I have been using the other PDF's for general guidance, but I shouldn't have to make do with other guides.
Apple.... Is it too much to ask that my £1250 purchase comes with the proper documentation ?!

  • Will the MacBook Pro get an exterior appearance facelift in the future?

I was just wondering since Apple has used the Silver Powerbook platform for some time now. Are there any plans in the near future of a different look for the MacBook Pro?

Apple has typically introduced a new fashion statement about every 2.5-3 years. They do keep pace with the latest trends so I'm confident we'll be seeing a new color scheme in the not so distant future. Actually, I thought we were about to see a slightly darker steel-slate finish with the MBP but the graphics on the new Apple splash page turned out to be a bit deceptive. http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ Hope this is helpful.

How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8) since November until now.  Mail will no longer download on the MacBook Pro and keeps asking for my password.

Mail should still be usable with your machine - but you'll need to update the settings to conform to the requirements of your system. Check with your ISP (like ATT, etc.) for the settings that will work with your Mail. Once you've updated this, you should be able to email like before.
For example, my ISP required that I go to Mail Preferences/Accounts and make sure the details conform to your email settings.
I have no idea of what your ISP is or what the settings might be, but this is likely the source of the problem.

Have just installed Mavericks and restarted the MacBook Pro. That was 3 hours ago and after logging in, I got my wallpaper and dock, but none of my desktop icons, just the spinning coloured wheel. It's been like that for 2 hours. Is this normal? What should I do, please?
I tried holding the on/off switch down to make it shut down, but when I turned it back on again, the same thing happened and none of the keys etc makes any difference.
    HELP!!!! Please.

No, what you're experiencing is not normal.
Try booting whilst holding down the Shift key - this will allow you to boot into Safe Mode, disabling third-party kernel extensions, etc. Your Mac will be slow to boot and will operate sluggishly. That's normal. If you can get in using Safe Mode then you have some start-up item that doesn't play well with Mavericks.

As Bob says, any iMap service can do this. GMail can, iCLoud mail can too.
Both of these can be used with Mail on any device.

My settings/preferences did not come over and I do not have the same style options for my signature.  It now only allows me three options and the style I have been using for the last year is not there.  How do I add additional options and get my preferred signature style back?

    Hi Amanda ,
Which version of Acrobat are you using?
Which signature style are you talking about?
You can go ahead and try uninstalling and reinstalling it and see if that works for you .
Use the cleaner tool to uninstall it .Here is the link.
Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
You can refer to the following link to re install it .
