I have been unable to update iTunes on my Windows PC. An error message keeps coming up saying a .dll is missing. My daughter has experienced the same issue with her PC. No problems with my iMac or iOS devices. I thought I may have some corrupted files, so I deleted iTunes and attempted to download it. The same error message came up, and now I don't have iTunes on my PC. Has anyone experienced a problem with an update of iTunes on a Windows based PC?

Hello- after updating to the new iTunes i got a box saying that i needed a new version of Apple Mobile Device Support and ihat i should uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support then install iTunes again. (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I run windows 7. Have been unable to open itunes since updating last week. I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled, and have checked run as administrator, but still can no open. I notice that there is now a shield with yellow and blue squares next to it, that i do not think were there before.

The ModName is ituneup.dll; the modver is 1.0.7.0.
Do you have the TuneUp plugin installed for your iTunes? If so, I think your copy is causing the issue here. Try the following document:

After updating to Mavericks, I have been unable to update iphoto, and when I attempt to, it says that These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. But no other appleID has ever been used on my computer, how could this be resolved?
Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help? -
I have been trying to update iTunes 11.1.3 (8) to 11.4 and the error message says "an unexpected error occured. iTunes cannot be installed". Anyone can help?
I have a Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6.8If your profile is correct you are using 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. The latest iTunes version for that OS is 11.3.1 If your profile is wrong and you have 10.9.5 Mavericks, then the iTunes version is 11.4. You cannot use Mavericks versions on Snow Leopard.

I have been unable to update Firefox 12 using a dialup connection. I have tried repeatedly.
I am using a dial up connection. I have tried several times to update to FF 12. most connections are 24 at best usually at night. The last download showed Firefox scanning for viruses. I have been unable to locate the downloads anywhere. Very often the download just disappears before finishing. I have tried 4 times.This connection is at a weekend home where the computer is used infrequently. Down loads are difficult at all times due to the very slow connection.
Before upgrading to FF 12, you might look at all the other horror stories on here associated with the upgrading to 12 and all the people still trying to get it to work. That's doesn't mean it won't work on your computer but there could be a high probability, especially if you have a lot of processes running and plugins installed.
See other problems on this forum and then decide. People have been returning back to older versions (11) or going to Beta 13. Due to the size of the initial download (exe file), you can put it on a flash drive from a friend's computer and then run it on yours. FF 9.0.1 is 14 Meg alone. not sure about other versions.

Firefox is my default browser and since the most recent Firefox update I have been unable to click through links I receive from Windows Live Email to the Firefox browser, but it works if my browser is set to IE9?? I have checked the defaults settings and both are fine, so Any explanations or ideas on how to solve this?
Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 3
Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
Step 4
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.

Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
Step 7
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC). -
i use iTunes on my PC running windows 7. I rented "Get him to the geek" and have been unable to play it fully. iTunes locks up a the task manager show its not responding (iTunes). I have tryed reloading it everything I can think of without success. I'm done now I can't spend all this time and energy to watch a movie. I really don't believe I should have pay for it as well.
Mike CallahanI have had this identical issue (on an Apple TV3) and was helped by Apple Support who guided me to go to the Settings Menu on the Apple TV and did a RESET. You will need to re connect to your WIFI and your iTunes account (passwords etc).

I am using an older windows computer with Windows XP and iTunes 11.0.5.5. Since upgrading my iPhone and iPad my system will not allow me to connect the devices to my iTunes -- it notes I need to upgrade to iTunes 11.5. However using automatic updates or manual update I can not update iTunes -- I get an error message the older windows iTunes could not be removed. I can not remove iTunes using control panel -- an older install/uninstall file is evidently missing. All of my music is contained on my PC -- more music is on my PC than I store on my other devices and I don't want to loose those music files nor permission to access those music files. Does anyone have a solution to uninstalling and upgrading windows iTunes without losing my music. I would like to be able to connect my iPhone and iPad to my PC again. RS

I have been struggeling for days to update my Iphone software to V5.1. If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

i get an update notice for Imovie but when I try to update it the APP Store will not accept my Apple ID password. I have no problem updating other apps and downlaoding apps and music. I have the Mavericks OS but the problem is a carryover from Mountain Lion.
