One step listed in the link to "helpful" info, was (when Iooked 30 seconds ago), to search for and download the newest version of iTunes. I'm running iTunes on Win 7 machine and was prompted to update today, 10.22.2014, and did so without a problem. Having said that, however, it looks as though the latest iTunes (12.0.1.26) is finally doing what the last version refused to do, which is to actually fully populate all my playlists on my 6, but there is a hitch: 12.0.1.26 will NOT allow you to show the sidebar unless you click on "playlists," that is, you cannot keep it open all the time.
And, when plugging the 6 into the computer, the phone icon shows up but clicking on it does nada. What does work, for some strange reason, is clicking on the tiny icon (just under the "Store" menu link at top screen) which looks much like a tiny barrel, someone's idea of external drives, I suppose. The phone then comes up, with the list of stuff on the phone just under it where the sidebar used to be. Sync is now restricted to the lower right of the screen.
Apparently, you will also need to update your iPhone's software as well; some friends with the 4 and 4s, however, had troubles with them after upgrading. The message from Silicon Valley (I can see Apple from my backyard, ha ha) is apparently, "keep upgrading," folks, get rid of those old phones.

Do be aware that the subscription model is just like rent... stop paying and the programs stop working... but you get the full Photoshop

I have experienced the same problem on my my iPad1, my former iPhone 4 my laptop and even my new iPhone5 though I had really hoped that the new phone and IOS would solve the problem. About 5% of the songs are affected and the stoppage can range from seconds short to a minute and a half. The file shows more of the music left, but it stops playing and goes to the next song. Very aggravating. Appears to happen on purchased and uploaded music.
Any help Apple?

Mail wanted to start setup - although have been using it for 2 years!

Hi, appreciate your help as no so technical myself......but started my mac this morning and clicked to start mail and it wants to run through the set up again etc - like I just bought the computer.
Have been using mail for 2 years no problem........and my mail box contains so much stuff!

I am using an early 13 inch MacBook and have kept it going for five years without problems. The hard drive is getting unreliable and needs changing. How large a hard drive can I replace it with?

Sorry for the long title, this is the first time I have used this place.
The local Mac engineering support in Jamaica is a small shop in town. They told me I could go up to 750 gig, which appeals to me as I use this for my business. And oldie but goodie this Mac. It is upgraded in memory to 4 gig and is operating on Lion Server.
Recently I have been getting disk errors, which indicates the drive is getting too old and may fail soon.
So, before I buy I figured asking what the truth is. 750 gig? Really?

Physically, the limitation is the 9.5mm drive thickess. AFAIK, most if not all 750GB HDDs have that thickess. The next size, 1TB, has the issue that many of the brands are 12.5mm thick and won't fit, but you may get lucky and find a "thin" model in this size.
Other thing to watch is the speed. 7200 vs. 5400 RPM is attractive, but the faster disks will run a tad hotter, which can be an issue in a single-fan 13"
Lastly, noise. Compare the noise ratings as published in the spec sheets. Western Digital disks, for example, are usually noisier than other brands. Perfectly nornal and does not detract in performance or longevity, but having the thing buzz at you while trying to catch a quick email check at night or watch a subdued movie may be annoying.
When you do decide and get down to doing the deed, be sure to get one of those cans of compressed air or "dusters" and thoroughly clean out the guts of the Mac. Especially around the blades of the fan, where dust tends to stick and degrade the cooling capacity of the component.

I have been using Treo for 5 years

I have a Pearl 8130. I have hundreds of questions/problems.
Is it seems my phone is always in a waiting mode. The sand clock
is continually on. I try to make a call fro my address book and I have to
wait because the phone is in a (what I call wait mode) wait for me to get ready.
I installed and formatted a 2gb micro memory card and I formatted it. I transferred
pics I had on the phone and the next morning I went to reach for my phone and of course
the sand clock was on and after 3 mins the phone responded as I needed to call one of my restaurants.
After the call the phone turned off by it's self. I had a pic of my family which I had downloaded to the phone
before I installed the memory card, the pic was my home screen. When the phone turned back on all my
(pics) were gone, from the device and the ones I had stored in the memory card.
Does any one have any clue what is going on with the phone?
Also is there a Book (Dummy guide to BB Phones) that has more info than the manual that I was provided?

First thing to remember about a Blackberry is when you are having issues with it, such as a hanging hourglass, take the battery out (with the device turned on), leave it out for 30 seconds and put ti back in and try it again.
Pulling the battery with the Blackberry turned on resolves many issues you may have with them.
If its new, you defeinately should not be having these problems and as a worst case scenario, you can backup your Blackberry and reset it back to default and test it again.

Well, your first mistake was making a new Apple ID. You only needed to go into Manage your Apple ID and change the Apple ID from the Yahoo email to your new email. Then, all the purchases you made with that old Apple ID would still be tied to your updated Apple ID.
As it is, you now have a totally new Apple ID, but the purchases you made with that old Apple ID are still (and will forever be) tied to it.
Your best bet is to log into Manage your Apple ID with the old ID (regardless of what Yahoo did with it, it is still a functional Apple ID, unless you had that disable for security reasons). Once you have logged into it, change the password on it to match the password on your new ID. Then when you are asked for a password to update an app, it won't matter which of the two Apple IDs is displaying. You will just type in the same password and your app will be updated.

I am relatively new to lightroom although i have been using photoshop for many years.

after opening, developing and copying a selected image, i make selections in the print section but when i try to print to my 2880, the program indicates in the upper left of the screen that it is in progress, then completed, but then invariably, lightroom quits without printing. If i instead during my developing continue with editing in photoshop and print from there, i have no problem. What am i doing wrong to force lightroom to quit ??     hope for some help,     owlbird

i am editing my own question by adding that in the last 8 hours i find that if i select my image from " collections" rather than from the folders, It works in the print section   ! BUT although i can size it and add my title, whenever i
request a watermark and try to print , it still quits.    Is this wierd, ???I am using MAC OS X.

I have been using Firefox for many years now and really like it, now the version 4 is extremely slow, anyone else having the same issue?

I upgraded to version 4 last week and find it extremely slow compared to the previous version - like so slow that some pages do not even load. I have downloaded and gone back to version 3.6.17 and everything is back to the normal I have known for years with Firefox and it is really fast again...so now I know that there is nothing wrong with my computer and that the supposedly very very fast version 4 is much much slower than the previous version 3.6...so what gives? I'm not keen on going back to the new improved version 4, though I know it will not be supported soon...anyone else having the same issue?

You have multiple versions of Pages on your Mac.
When you get the "index.xml file is missing" warning that is because you have opened a newer version document with an older version of Pages.
The difference between the versions is obvious from different screen appearance to different icons (blue inkbottle/orange document), as well as stated different version numbers.
right click on the file and choose which version you wish to open the file with.
You may have up to 3 versions of Pages on your Mac all of which use different file formats but have the same file extension, .pages.
Pages 5 will at minimum alter and and at worst damage Pages '09 files and can not open Pages '08 files at all. It also has over 100 missing features and an extremely incompatible file format. Pages 5.5.2 creates files that can only be opened by Pages 5.5.2 running only on Yosemite and iOS 8.
