The coment "few outdated programs" Ive seen alot its not just a few its a lot and since games are not Apple's strong point I would think they would want to keep as many as they could...
An example of the rants you will see from a lot here. Don't be put off as these problems are generally user specific, and these same old comments come out after the release of every OSX I can remember. When Lion is upgraded to the next OSX you can gaurentee these forums will be full of people screaming about how great Lion was. Happened with Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard.
So come to think of it you may be better off Googling sites that give you unbiased views on Lion, rather than expect any positive comments here. For every one complaint there are probably 100,000 people with no issues.

All the information that I had input on Quicken is gone. I have to have the external hard drive that I use to back up to be able to use quicken now. It is as if it was erased from the laptop hardriveTry repairing permissions. My favorite way is with a utility called AppleJack. Info and download here. It's free. It only works when you boot in Single User Mode. When restarting or booting, hold down the Command key and S keys.
You will get a very different startup screen that looks like the Terminal app has hijacked the screen. Just let the lines of text scroll by. When that happens you will get a text entry prompt. Type in "AppleJack" without the quotation marks.
A DOS looking menu will appear. Choose 1 or d to run Disk Repair. If you get a message that Disk Repair found and corrected errors, run it again. Repeat until you get the "your disk appears to be ok" message. This rarely happens with my experience, though. This does the same thing as as booting from an external drive and running Disk Utility's repair. Only, no external drive is required!
Next, choose 2 or p to repair disk permissions. This will take a little while. AppleJack warns that it will take up to an half hour to run repair permissions. It'n never taken more than about ten minutes for my MacBook Pro.
As permissions are repaired, you will see each repair scroll on the screen. When done, the menu returns, choose q to quit. Then at the prompt, enter "exit" without the quotes. Your MacBook Pro should restart into Mac OS normally after this.

You are in the worst scenario, because now you have to delete Windows 7 and get back OS X Mountain Lion. Next time you install Windows through Boot Camp, be very careful with the partitioning step, and follow the steps of this site > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
To reinstall OS X Mountain Lion, follow these steps:
1. Hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting to start in OS X Recovery, and open Disk Utility.
2. Select the hard drive at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the whole hard drive. Make sure that "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" is selected next to "Format".
3. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X.
4. After reinstalling OS X, follow the steps of the site above to install Windows 7 on the MacBook Air properly -

As others have noted, this is a classic kernel panic (KP) and should happen with a new machine. AppleCare's Express Lane. Do note that if you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

I have downloaded and am successfully running Mountain Lion on my iMac. The app icon in dock keeps showing a red circle that tells me to download Mountain Lion (not an update)!!! When I go there they want the 19.99 to install just as if there is no record that I already have paid and downloaed the new OS.
Remove the icon from the Dock and post the results from Apple menu ->About this Mac.

I bought Macbook Air early 2014. Ever since i bought it to turn it on after a long ie. 5hr - 6hr i have to first charge it for at least 15 mins and sometimes it wont turn on for 3hr - 4hr and then it will turn on regardless of the battery charged. If i had put it on sleep even then it wont turn on it will work as usual as it is suppose to do. I went to icare twice and they game me the device back after 1-2 weeks saying it is now not giving any issue but when i will used it next morning again same thing happened. It's like i can never go out anywhere with the laptop outside as i have to first charge it and then turn it on. Icare wont replace my device they only say if there is any issue with the hardware we will replace that hardware but i think it is useless because they don't know what the issue is. Can someone help me out what to do now ? It's been to iCare ever since i bought it now i don't want them to again do the same thing.

It's running a i7 2ghz with 8gb ram And OS X 10.8.4
I have had the Air around 11 months and the last week is the first time it has ever frozen , now it will do it after about 15 min use
It seems a little warmer than usual and it will freeze no matter what is running , or just idle .

I have a macbook air bought in 2008 and am unsure if it can be upgraded to maverick. Is there a serial number beyond which it is possible to upgrade? I know that first I need to upgrade to mountain lion or some other fierce cat.
The model identifier is MacbookAir1,1No that system will not run Mavericks.

my start up disc is full i have a macbook air, i back everuthing up with time capsule and have movies all my music libraries and photos onto that too so as i have free space, but my max still says my startup disc is full with "other"
First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the available space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as "Backups." The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal. -

I have a macbook air bought in 2010. It has liquid damage that might or might not affected the SSD card. I need the data on my SSD card for work and I need it urgently. Apparently Apple won't get the data out, even if I have apple care... Licensed apple dealers need to have the same macbook air model so they can insert the SSD card and check whether the data is there, and they never seem to have one...
I'm really disappointed with apple. It's been two weeks and I haven't been able to find out whether the SSD card is holding my data. It can't take that long to do it in store... How can they sell a product and then wash their hands on the matter?
Anyway, enough with the apple rant. I need to get this data urgently so I need to find out how I can get it out of the card. The SSD card and data might be fine so I don't want to take it to a data recovery centre and get charged loads.
