I have boxed Aperture 3... can I donwload from App Store without paying?

I am upgrading Mac... Simply copying the app from my previous Mac did not work (not Apple like...) as the newly copied Aperture crashes on startup...
So if I want download from AppStore vs digging the DVD out, do I have that option without incurring the $80 charge?

Did you install it yourself are somebody else for you?
If you installed them yourself, but do not remember which AppleID you used, try all AppleIDs you might have used in turn.
If somene else set up your Mac for you, ask the person to reinstall it. If you bought the mac second hand, the previous owner needs to contact Apple to transfer the iLife apps. If that is not possible, delete the apps that you cannot update and buy them using your AppleID.

The old owner needs to go to Apple's website to "edit your Support Profile" to delete ownership registration of your product(s).
You then register your "new" device, also online. Once the old owner has deleted ownership, the serial number is freed for a user (new owner-you) to add it. You should obtain/have an Apple ID first.
On your computer, in the App Store Application, sign-out the old account. Create a new account (or sign in your account - your Apple ID).
