1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
3. Wait fifteen seconds.
4. Attach the computer's power cord.
5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Then zap the PRAM/NVRAM as per > About NVRAM and PRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
Then retry the Disc Drive.

i have two network drive and i am trying to copy a file from my mac mini to one of the network drives, but i keep getting this error message "One or more items can’t be copied because you don’t have permission to read them." i have no idea why this is since i have always been able to copy stuff back and forth. i checked my file sharing permissions and it is set to read and write for admin (me), none for everyone and read for guests. can someone please, this is very annoying and this is the second time it has happened to me.

neither move nor copy is working. both way gives same error message. what i would like to do however is move the file. yes i am logged in as a the admin and the issue is affecting not just that particular file in my system but others as well. i looked at get info and no the file is not locked but under permission, it says everyone and read only. it will not let me change this setting from get info however when i look under system preferences for file sharing, my setting is read and write for admin (me), none for everyone and read for guests.

I bought an iphone 4s. After plugging it via usb to my computer itunes demanded to update version to 10.3 or higher. I uninstalled itunes, downloaded latest version (11.0.2) and during installation process on "activating services" it shows error message: "installation failed, verify administrator priviliges" which i have because i sign in as my pc administrator. Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

Firefox doesn't shut down cleanly. It never has. It often only does a "top kill" which leaves the bottom running. It won't start again until you kill the entire process. Open Task Manager, hunt around for the remnant of the application ("firefox.exe"), and kill it using a bottom kill.

Iphone 4 error message while in wifi "safari can not open page because server stopped responding" after iOS6 update

I am currently using my Iphone 4 in wifi networks only after canceling my cell phone plan. Over the weekend I did the IOS6 update on the iphone as well as updated my macbooks itunes and OS X operating systems updates that were available. Since that my iphone's safara app won't connect. After it trys to connect for a minute or 2 I recieve the message: "safari can not open page because server stopped responding". However ALL other apps that require the phone to be connected to wifi for use work properly, i.e app store, imessage, pinger, facebook, etc. I have checked all network setting and they looked right to me. Anything I'm missing, ideas to try, or am I sol (lol)? Safari worked perfectly before the update so I thought I might have done something wrong or forgot to change some type of setting.

This file was created in 2002 in MSword but this had been forgotten.
When I went to open it.... (MSword) was not a program option on my laptop. For some reason, I assumed that either Pages or Numbers wouild open the file. How the file was created was forgotten and had no file Info, but I new that it was a table of valuable information.
The warning threw me off, because it led me to believe that it was a Numbers file. which Numbers would not open. A paradox.
I took the file to a laptop in OSXpanther with MSoffice and it opened in MSword. Problem Solved.

i have a macbook pro and a external hard drive 1tb. the thing is i can not copy any file that is more than 4gb. i know that fat partiotion has restriction. How i can format my external hard drive so i can copy and paste file on it from windows and mac os?

That is because the drive if formatted FAT32 and with a FAT32 formatted drive you can't store any file that is larger then 4GB (actually you can't store/save any file that is 4GBs. It has to be Slightly smaller then 4GB).
So you need to format that drive with Mac Extended (Journaled) with a Partition Table of GUID or format it exFAT.
exFAT if you plan on using that external on both Mac and Windows computers. Mac Extended (Journaled) if it will only be used on Mac computers.
If you format it exFAT do that on a Windows computer as Mac screws up the formatting and it then can't be read on Windows computers. Doing it on a Windows computer it can be read and written to on both Win and Mac.

It is apparent that file sizes smaller than this can be transferred however there seems to be a problem with this. You need to either segment the file or reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended, exFAT, or NTFS.

I'm not able to log into Windows Server 2008 r2 server thorugh Remote Desktop connection, receiving below error message.
This issue is with only three servers in the environment

The date/time is correct on the server when i checked in the console session of the server
Can see below messages in event logs
Event ID 1014:
"Name resolution for the name XYZdomain.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded."
Event ID 1053:
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the user name. This could be caused by one of more of the following:
a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller.
b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
Any thoughts ....

Have you tried to connect these three servers with IP address instead of computer name or DNS name?
Check Remote Desktop Connection settings: Option-->Advanced-->Connect from anywhere-->Settings-->Connection Settings-->Select “Do not user an RD Gateway server”

How to play music simultaneously both on my computer and the remote speaker

I have an existing wi-fi station and one Airport Express, but I can not play music simultaneous both on my computer and the remote speaker. I just can select only one speaker.
My iTunes is the latest Windows version 6.03.5, but I can not see the option of "multiple speakers" on the bottom-right menu. What is the problem? How can I do if I want to play music simultaneously both on my computer and the remote speaker?

On that note, long story short, it was very helpful for me to download the latest firmware. Here's a link for the Windows download. Try this first, if you haven't already. One of the fixes "-Resolves issue with Audio dropout when playing to AirPort Express with AirTunes". Not exactly your issue, but worth a try.
