I have changed my email address but the old one comes up in the box when I want to buy a book.
How do I change the email address in the box which appears on the itunes or bookstore box when it asks for password?

Okay... I redeemed my itunes gift card, under my old ID. I had since updated my new email address, but didnt realize i redeemed it under the old ID. I tried to redeem it under my new ID, but i couldnt. Is there a way to switch my gift card amount to my current ID??
No, it's not currently possible to transfer a redeemed card to a different account, and you also won't be able to use it to gift content to the newer account (you can only gift via a credit card) - so the amount will remain linked to that old account

I have reset my email address and server however when I try to load updates from the app store the old email address shows and my new passwoed does not work. PS I cant remember my old password as I reset the emial address in May

Hi, I ahve a macbook Pro. Sometimes it tells me there are software updates but some of them i can't download because it wants me to enter an apple ID and its only giving me the choice to use my old ID with an old email address that no longer exists. I think its with itunes it does that.
If you have 'Find My iPad' activated on the iPad it will cause this problem. You will have to contact Support for help. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'More Products and Services', then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password' and click 'Continue'.

Signing in using the apple id password to update and purchase stuff thru apple store, gives the old email and am unable to get into the apps store, etc...to change, update and purchase stuff. when using password it won't work, as the email is wrong, yet in the box doesn't appear a place to change the email. would have thought as it changed, days ago - it would change to the updated email.

Settings > iCloud.Delete the account then add using new email.
Settings > Messages. Turn off iMessage then turn it back on.
Settings > FaceTime. Turn off then back on.
Settings > iTunes & App store. Tap AppleID, log out then log back in with new AppleID. -

<Personal Information Edited by Host>To do what, update apps? If that is the case, understand that apps are locked to the Apple ID used to purchase them. It cannot be changed and they cannot be merged to another account. If you are just trying to log into the iTunes store, then sign out first, and then sign in with the new one. Just remember what I said about updating apps.

The "apple ID Password" box along with the keyboard pops up when I turn the iPad on and it stays there. I have changed my email address on my iMac and also changed my password. The old email address is still on the iPad. Anyway, I can't use the iPad because can't get the apple id password box to go away. Thanks for any help!
This is an older photo but the sleep and home buttons are still in the same place on all iPads. The home button is the round button at the bottom of the iPad and the sleep button is also called the on/off button and it is at the top right corner of the iPad.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID) -
I have changed my email address, and apple ID online, but my iPad keeps bring up the old address and will not log into my Apple ID
If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

I have a new email address but when I am asked to sign in with my Apple ID for Apple store my iPad automatically shows my old email and rejects my password. How do I get around this?
I kind of agree with Philly on this one. If you get a new email address, there is no need to establish an entirely new account to use that address. You just need to modify your account to show the new email address. This way all your purchase history and rights to purchased apps stays in place. Creating a new iTunes/Apple account each time your email address changes really doesn't make sense in my opinion. I only point this out for future searchers who end up on this thread.
