I have completely erased my OS X lion how do I reinstall it without a disk.

I have tried to reset my laptop to factory settings, and I somehow deleted my OS X Lion I have tried every way possible to put it back on but the information I do find for it says insert disk to reinstall, well my laptop did not come with a disk so i how I fix this problem.

Restart holding the option, command and R keys. This will boot your computer from the Internet and let you download and install the OS.

I have downloaded an update for my ipod 4th, and after that all my songs, pictures and apps have been erased, Is there some way to recover all my information without have done a security copy?

I supsect you did the update on other than your syncing computer. If yu did the app, music and synced photo will not be on the iPod after the update since those items are not in the backup that iTunes makes. See:
iOS 5: Updating your device to iOS 5
The above applies to all updates performedvia USB on a computer. To get stuff back, restore from backup on the syncing computer.
The above in my educated guess since you provided litle information about how you did the update.
You can redownload many iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    Did you try:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you don't have the original discs that came with the computer, then you can install the retail version of Snow Leopard:
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

Depends on where you got it - if it came on yoru compujter then you need to have accepeted it in the App store - and it will be in your purchases when you log in with the Apple ID that you used to set up your computer - it mahy be hidden - if you do not find it unhide applications in teh App store

Do you at least have the serial-numbers for them?  Did you buy discs or download them?  What versions, specifically?
If you purchased them as downloads from Adobe, they may be available under My Purchases (or whatever it is called, exactly) if you log into www.adobe.com and check the My Account area, then look at the products you’ve purchased.

Buy it again in your new Apple ID or remember the old one. That's about it.

  • TS1292 I have a new macbook pro bought around a month ago so either the end of June or the beginning of July I know I should have a free upgrade to Snow Lion how do I get it

I should have a free upgrade to Snow Lion since the Macbookpro is around a month old now I have tried to upgrade to Snow Lion from the App store but it wants me to buy it . How do I get the free upgrade?

iWork! But Office 2008 or 2011 will run fine on Lion
Lion is awesome, and if you purchased your MacBook Pro since June 6th, go here to get a free copy> http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
The bugs are few and far apart

  • It says i have to review my apple id but how do i do it without entering a cridit card

it says i have to review my apple id account but how do i do it without entering a cridit card

Ok, so here's what I did:
1.Created a new email account (gmail, to be precise)
2.Opened iTunes (on PC with Windows 7)
    3.Browsed for free apps
4.Tried to download one (Bubble Explode)
5.After a message popped up I chose to create a new Apple ID, as the location I typed NY, United States
6.The 'None' payment option did appear
7.I  finished signup and downloaded the app on PC
8.Signed in on my iPad 3
9.Deleted the app and signed out on PC
10.Connected to AppStore on the same iPad
11.Downloaded Bubble Explode via iPad and deleted it after it's done
Be patient, for me it took 3 days and I was furious as never before in my life since Windows Vista.
Feel free to ask if sth. is unclear and remember that just because I made it, it doesn't mean I can do it once more.

  • HT2523 I have accidently delete TextEdit in my computer, how can I reinstall it?

I have accidently delete TextEdit in my computer and cleared trash, how can I reinstall it?

I'd like to start by clearing up a lot of the nonsense that has been said here…
TextEdit is not available to download on the App Store & Mac OS 10.5 cannot access that anyway!
Tex-edit-plus is not the same app and Softonic have a bad reputation as seventy one mentioned, avoid it at all costs.
Text Wrangler – whilst it is a nice 'plain text editor' for editing 'code' files it will not open & save Word documents correctly, I'm not sure it handles RTF either? It is not the same as TextEdit.
The options I see you having are…
Recover it from a backup (let me guess - you don't have any?).
Extract it from the original OS installation media, Pacifist can help do this, but you will need to dig into packages to find it.
Install OS X onto a spare disk & copy that over.
Reinstall OS X over the top of your current install, causing the original applications to be re-written
It has been so long since I installed 10.5 I cannot remember if there was a 'reinstall OS X' option so it is possible that number 4 is NOT AN OPTION. If you attempt this & don't have a full bootable backup you risk losing everything.
    Option 2 is the safest,
Insert your Install DVD, try opening the following location (the 10.5 install DVD has an 'Essentials.pkg' that appears to contain TextEdit). This is hidden on the disk inside the following folders…
    Mac OS Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg
Open that .pkg in Pacifist. It will create the layout that mirrors an installation, dig into 'Contents of Essentials.pkg' /Applications and you should find TextEdit.app. Try extracting that to a new location.
My terms may be incorrect since I used a newer version of Pacifist to check, but the general principle should be the same.
If you don't have the install DVD/ CD, frankly all hope is lost, go and buy one from Amazon or Ebay.
Now would also be a good time to learn how important backups are. Make one & keep it up to date, Carbon Copy Cloner will do that for you on 10.5.

  • Where can I find appleworks after I have completely erased my computer.

I recently erased everything off of my computer, but I don't have basic applications like iPhoto or appleworks in my application folder. Where can I find them to download them on to my computer. I heard I could get them on my original mac software that I received when I bought my mac. Is this true?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I'm guessing you have a G5 iMac. If it is a pre-Intel iMac, AppleWorks was pre-installed on it. Apple has written two articles, Knowledge Base article 300316 on installing AppleWorks 6 & Knowledge Base article 61802 on restoring the software than came with your Mac.
The "iMacPowerMac6,1" in your profile doesn't mean much to me or other "old-timers" around here & I haven't found a list to convert it to something I do know.

  • IPhone 4S :  I have reset and forgot my passcode to get into my phone. I have guessed my pass code so many times that i have completely enabled my iPhone 4S. How do i take care of this on an iTunes account?

I have the iPhone 4S, and have only had it 5 days. Two days ago, I accidently reset my passcode and did not write it down. I have no idea what the passcode is, and have tried so many times that i have totally enabled my phone, and it says connect to iTunes to take care of it but i have no idea how. PLEASE HELP ME

Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch the iTunes app if not already launched.
Since you have never synced your iPhone with iTunes on your computer which can include much more than music, more than likely you will be prevented from restoring the iPhone with iTunes the normal way. This prevents someone from syncing your iPhone with iTunes on another computer in the event your iPhone was lost or stolen.
If you are prompted to enter your passcode when connecting your iPhone to iTunes on your computer, you must place your iPhone into recovery mode. If successful, this will require restoring the iPhone with iTunes - as a new iPhone. iTunes creates and maintains a backup for the iPhone when syncing, which is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process, but since you don't know the passcode and you have never synced your iPhone with iTunes on your computer, a backup will not be created. You will lose data on your iPhone such as contacts, notes, calendar events, etc.
Steps for placing your iPhone into recovery mode.

  • How do I reinstall OS after using disk utility to erase HD?  Trying to reset to factory to sell imac.

    Any help?

Well, it probably came with Mountain Lion, which means you'll need to put ML back onto the machine.
The reason you are having a problem is because you erased the drive and now you cannot boot from it because it has nothing on it. Not sure which instructions you followed, but you should only erase your hard drive if you are booted from another source - don't erase the drive you are booted from. In any case, I don't know if this will work as your hard drive is blank.
Try to use Internet Recovery and that is: hold down Command + Option + R while starting up/restarting. If it works, you'll see a globe; when connected to Apple's servers, you can choose reinstall OS X which should reinstall the original OS.
If that does not work and you do not have a bootable backup, then the only thing I can suggest that you take it to your nearest Genius Bar and let them deal with it. Remember to tell them that you need to have the original OS back on the machine (Mountain Lion) as you are legally required to do.
If that works, you'll need to do one more thing to disassociate the machine and the OS with your ID, so the buyer will be able to associate it with theirs: go to this Apple site and de-register your Mac there:

  • TS1702 The app "Dictionary+" was not installed on the iPhone "iPhone John" because an Unknown error occurred (0xE800002D). I will not download the updates to the laptop to have apps that work stored there. How do I reinstall iOS 5.1.1??

I do not update apps through my laptop I store the apps that actually have been tested and work on the laptop and test updated apps on the iPhone. After updating the iPhone to iOS 6.0.1 iTunes will not install the apps from iTunes on my laptop to my iPhone without updating the apps online. This is not going to happen from my end and I do not like having control of what MY Laptop and MY iPhone can do seperately forced to be as one. That should be an option of choice not a demand of service.
If anyone has an option like how to reinstall iOS 5.1.1 back onto my 3GS I would love to hear it.
Thanks for any constructive solutions or directions other than here to turn.
I've spent over thirty thousand dollars since 1992 on Macintosh products and I'm on the verge of becoming a Windows OS user based upon this latest Apple tactics of fair use.
    iPhone 3GS, iOS 6.0.1
    MacBook 10.5.8 - eMac 10.2.8, Mac OS X (10.5.8), MBk 2.4 Intel CorDuo 4GB Mem - eMac 800 Mhz IBM 2GB Mem
One other thing I'm not updating the OS on the laptop; I like the freedom to do as I please with my computer.

    Unkle Rayne wrote:
    I'm running iTunes 10.6.3.
Macintosh has never allowed the user to update and or utilize any app or feature if the Operating System was inadequate to do so. Your answer "iOS 6 requires 10.6.8 to run iTunes 10.7" is ineffective at this point and mute. The update should not have been aloud over Wifi or 3G Network to iPhone without the ability to authenticate resources required or needed to operate both iPhnoe iOS and Desktop OS together.
The issue, as has already been explained is that the version of iTunes on the computer will not work with iOS6.
iOS updates via Wi-Fi have nothing to do with iTunes on the computer and does not care what version is on the computer.  Personally, I find it completely moronic to update via Wi-Fi as there is really no option for backup or a restore from backup if the update fails.  To me, it seems like a great way for the user to create issues for themselves that do not need to exist.
As there is no officially supported method to downgrade the iOS, the only option left if syncing is desired is to upgrade iTunes on the computer.
I really do not understand why you seem so defensive about updating iTunes.  Update iTunes on the computer, then sync the device, if that's what you want.
If that's not what you want, other options include updating apps directly on the device via Wi-Fi or 3G or living with it as is.
