I have deleted 100 GB from my startup disk and I still get a message that my disk is full when editing my video Why?

I am trying to edit some videos using iMovie. My storage seems to disappear very rapidly and I cant get it back. I have deleted all my photos, Music, downloads and video files from the startup disk and recently (today) deleted 100GB of video files from the theatre in iMovie. I have tried to edit a single movie and in no time I was getting messages that my startup disk is full.
Why is this happening?
where has my storage space gone?
How can I get it back?
Why cant I use my external 2TB usb disk as the default storage path for my videos?
I need some answers quick. can anyone help? I am sure I am not the only person who edits videos on the Mac.

Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a computer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto or Aperture, both have its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you are an iMovie/ Final Cut user, both apps have their own individual Trash location that needs to be emptied, too!
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.

Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.

When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

I am trying to restore my iPhone 4s settings from a previous backup and now I'm getting a "not enough room on the iPhone" message. This is very frustrating. How can I fix this?
If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices. -
I was having problems connecting to my app store and safari, any games or anything that required going out to a server. I rebooted my wireless several times it is working and it shows a signal on my iPad so it was suggested I go into settings and do a reset. I have done this and it still is not working. the error message when I try to sign in with an Apple ID is "there was a problem connecting to the server". I even get this when I am connected directly to my computer through Itunes
Any suggestions?Sounds more like you have a problem with your apple id. For starters go to that page click manage my apple id and singn in. If you can't sign in reset password.

Try to take a look at the top right corner on iTunes. Does it say "Sign In" or "Apple ID" like [email protected]

I just updated my iTunes, and I need to delete photos from my iPod 4, and there is a Photo Library that synced to my iPod when i plugged it into my computer, and now it doesnt have the option to delete them off my iPod. How do I get rid of these photos? I have read other questions that say to plug the iPod into the computer and like un-sync it, but I downloaded the new iTunes and it doesnt have a photos tab. I am using iphoto 6.06 for my intel imac. I have been trying to print pictures from iphoto and i keep getting a message that states " unreadable file: the following file could not be imported. the file is in the iphoto library folder" also when i try to print a picture from iphoto i get a message that says "no page was selected"
not sure what happened but i can pnly print when i drop the photo onto my desktop as an 8.5 x 11 size picture and i am trying to print 4x6'sSince the new library gives you the same message log into another user account on your Mac and see if you can run iPhoto without getting that message. If you get that message there also a reinstall of iPhoto seems indicated. My itunes won't open - it says: 'The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem' I have tried un-installing then re-installing itunes and I still get the same message?? Can anyone help?

I have uninstalled the program, rebooted and downloaded the update again. Same problem, same message.

I have I-phone 5 with 15 GB. I currently have used 12.8 GB. I get error message that storage is almost full, I go to setting and my mail is using 5.7 GB. Can that be how alot of my storage is being used? If so or not any advise?

I accidentally moved iPhoto off from my tool bar. Now i get the message that iPhoto can't open because it may be damage or incomplete. Can someone help?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -
i am trying to synch some music i downloaded into itunes into my ipod and i am getting a message that the system does not recognize my ipod. this is the same ipod that i have used in the past with the same computer and itunes. don't know how to proceed to download the new music into my ipod.

Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
- If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
- Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
- Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
- Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
- Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
6. Restore using iTunes.

I have iCloud for my iPhone, my daughters iphone and 2 of my ipads and have purchased the max amount of storage I can but still get a message saying i don't have enough space to store anymore. Do I need to put each device on their own account?

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. I have Photoshop CS5.1 (bought in 2011). The photoshop Camera Raw plug-in is not recognizing the format of my new Nikon D610. I updated the version of my Camera Raw plug in and am still getting this message when trying to open images in photoshop. Please help.
