I have Dell XPS (windows 8.1): error: "this program won't run on this pc"

Greetings, I just purchased a Dell XPS with Windows 8.1. I have tried to load Irfanview, Kompozer, FileZilla, and other software that I have run, most on XP and even on MacOS, but the downloaded software will not run or install on my new Windowx 8.1. This
is terribly frustrating! I also don't understand why there is no "start" button that leads you to the software you have installed.
Please help. Thank you.

Have you installed the support drivers that Bob mentioned above?
If you used a USB to install Windows (I take it you're on Windows 7) and it's at least 8GB download the support drivers to the same USB then boot in to Windows with the USB plugged in and the automatic install process should start. Maybe

I am about to buy the above products for home and a laptop I bought the high res laptop for editing photos and the photos look great on the display but I cannot use photo shop and lightroom
has any body had this problem and is there a simple fix that I have missed
taking the res down in the control panel reduces the res but does not effect the programme
by the way the dell xps is great

I am using the latest photoshop and bridge from the cloud but only using the trial copy at the
moment
I will look closer and try to scale it to a suitable level

There is that pitfall in buying HiDpi laptops for Windows.
Only Photoshop CC 2014 has the option to scale the UI 200% in order to make it usable on these hires screens.
CC and earlier does not have this and Adobe would have to retrofit them. Not likely with older products.

Downloaded 26 to Dell XPS/Windows XP;how do I run it ?

Firefox told me to upgrade browser. So I downloaded Firefox Setup Stub 26.0 (4).exe. Now, when I open Firefox the message is "you need to upgrade"--still. How do I formalize the upgrade so that it is --in fact--upgraded and running once and for all? I'm running in Windows on a decade-old Dell XPS Windows XP Thanks.

The stub installer is a small download. Once you double-click it, it pulls a larger file and installs it. If you've already done that, I suspect you might have a different issue.
Check your internal version number using Help > About Firefox
If that shows 26.0, then your Firefox is up-to-date and there is a glitch with the version number Firefox is reporting to websites. You can clear this up using the method outlined in this article: [[Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version]].

Syntax error in program SAPLRRK0 - while running query in Bex/Portal

Hi all,
we just transported all the objects from dev to QA and data is loaded and everything went good. We are SPS9 and front end patch 903
Now I am trying to run queries on Bex analyzer and portal and I am getting this error.
"Syntax error in program SAPLRRK0."
Also on portal I am getting these extra messages
Error while executing function module: BICS_PROV_SUBMIT_VARIABLES
Error while executing function module: BICS_PROV_OPEN
I am researching but any input is appreciated.

I understand the pre-requisite notes issue but when we are moving like 50 notes from BW Dev to BW QA i am not sure how it works. I overheard the basis guy saying he is going to appy notes as per time stamp they were applied in BW Dev system. I will check on that though.
I have applied notes 969330, 969772, 977912,978359, 981814, 987135 in last 2 weeks. (which probaly are some how related to the issue). We have also applied some BI-Java notes in Portal Dev which are not transported to Portal QA.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

C++ compiled programs won't run in windows

I've been learning C++ for a week or two now, getting a good hang of it. I just use Kate as my editor and g++ to compile the program. It all runs fine under linux, but I'm not sure how to make a program to execute easily (terminal) in windows. So if the program runs in terminal on Linux should it run in a DOS window on windows? What do I need to do to allow my little apps to work properly under windows?

You have to recompile your source code under Windows.

Windows 8.1 Error 2 iTunes won't install

Tried to install iTunes on 64-bit Windows 8.1 and I keep getting errors and most recent was error 2. I tried the instructions on another thread and attempted to install Apple Application Support standalone and got the following error:

I think you mean Photoshop CS2. Photoshop 2 is from around 1992. The old Adobe activation servers were taken down. CS2 is about a decade old Adobe made a new download for old customers that legal customers can download and install. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

My computer has two harddisks. One of them is from the old computer, and the other is a new one.

Is the Editor correctly installed?
Go to C:Program Files (x86) >> Adobe
Find the PSE folder and then right-click on the Editor application and choose "Run As Administrator"

My iPhone 3GS does not charge with any device. It suddenly won't even be recognized by Windows (Code 52 error) and it won't charge. It seems to boot if a charger if plugged in.

A dock won't work, I'm not sure if it's charging while it's off.

Working again (I took it to my local Geinus Bar the next day.)

PS CS6-64 error 0xc0150002 - Program won't open

Just started getting this error.
I have done the following:
Rebooted
Uninstalled, Rebooted, Reinstalled.
Uninstalled, Downloaded from Adobe, Reinstalled in a new directory, Rebooted.
Still getting the following error:
PS was the only program I was trying to run. I know of no updates or changes to the program since I last used it (a few months back) which may be causing the problem.
I have Lightroom installed, it is still working fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What sucks is it took 5 hours of installing, reinstalling, updating, downloading, installing, reinstalling, ohhh wait, don't forget, reboots...but I have it running again.
Also, sadly, I have no idea what combination made it work.
In case someone else has this problem here's what I think I ended up doing.
Update all Windows 7 updates.
Completely remove Adobe Photoshop CS 6
Fresh Download of CS 6
(Play clash of clans for 5 hours)
Things I found that didn't work
Exit Code 6 - restarting computer in minimized / modified mode (I had that issue during my 5 hour journey)
Reinstalling the original version I found in my downloaded files section.
Installing what I thought was a new download into a different directory
Deleting a bunch of files, (support.microsoft.com/kb/96918/en-us)

I was prompted to upgrade to Firefox 4 - I have a 3.6 version. When I move it to my application folder and tried to run it, I get the error that it cannot run with my version of Mac OS. I'm not sure how to update my OS version or go back to an older version of Firefox.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

In a locked down childs account , constant errors from programs trying to run

Hi .
iMac 21.5" 2.7GHz intel Core i5 , 8GB 1600mHz DDR3 running OSX 10.9.4
2 accounts , my own admin account , my kids controlled account ( normal user with parental restrictions )
My son is an avid Minecraft fan and I set up a safe parental controlled account on my iMac for him .
Mostly the kids use it to play minecraft , a few flash games on disney sites and to watch endless youtube videos .
Lately he has complained that there are error messages .
error dialogs are constantly popping up " you don't have permission to run RCD.app " is the most common , but plenty to do with citrix receiver software
( which I have installed ) pop up as well . They are pretty much making the account unusable
None of these dialogs ever popped up before .
Obviously he downloaded and tried to install something which is trying to launch these and frankly I'm worried that it's malicious. He says he tried to install a mod for minecraft . I originally set up the controlled account because he infected the main account with an adware toolbar while adding mods .
When the Childs account is logged in and I am in my account , bluetooth acts up and the mouse connection keeps dropping .
Obviously my account being an admin account I'm not getting any error messages ..but that doesn't mean it's not affecting it , I just don't know .
I'm looking for advice on what way to tackle this and get the account back to clean working order . Obviously , I want to find out whats causing the problem , isolate it and get rid of it , but all within a controlled account that does not have admin priveliges , or alternatively from the admin account , but cleaning out the user account
Any advice gratefully listened to !!

Weird, I created a couple of autoit scripts last year for some tiny sage updates and they both auto closed after running. Have you checked the script to see if it's going through all the commands properly?

My VSB program won't run in XP. No clue why (no crash, no error.)

I've written other programs that run under XP/7/8 just fine. But this latest project, when I run it under XP (from a VM), nothing happens.
No error. No crash. It just never runs! I tried setting the .Net Framework to 3.5 as always (though it really doesn't need .Net), but it made no difference.
Any ideas why? Are there controls XP just doesn't support? My first app to use "ListView" and "ObjectList" objects if that matters. :(

VS 2013 cannot be installed on Windows XP. Neither can VS 2012. If you try to run a program created with VS 2012 or 2013 in Windows XP, it will not work!. It is simply not compatible. You need to recreate the program from scratch
in VS 2010 in order to run it in Windows XP.
I am running both Windows XP and Windows 7 on the same computer, with 2 partitions. I am more comfortable with Windows XP, but was required to use the newer version of VS for school. When I tried to install VS 2012, it refused. I had no
other choice but to use Windows 7, and I am going back and forth between the 2 operating systems. That's how I was able to answer your question.

Are you saying that if you create a program in the latest version of VS, even if you target an earlier version like framework 3.5
and also set it to compile for x86 (32-bit), that it will not work on XP?
If so then that make no sense, but ... I don't know.
Still lost in code, just at a little higher level.
