I have dirt behind the monitor glass

I do not understand how it got there but I noticed that sometimes there is dirt on my picture which are not part of the picture ( it does not scroll but stays in the same place from picture to picture and in various software packages. How could this happen and have others had the problem. How do I resolve it.

You're still under warranty. Contact Apple.
How the dirt got there is anybody's guess.

I use a pair of LP2475w Monitors for photography. The monitors both have gotten very dirty on the inside between the front glass and the LCP panel.  Is there an easy way to open this up to clean and if so how.  Thanks

  • Quality issues? Dirt behind the glass

    Hi there,
I have just returned yet another 27" Cinema Display to Amazon because of quality control issues at Apple it seems:
There was clearly visible *dirt behind the glass screen* (i. e. sitting directly on the LCD panel itself) - this seems to be limited to the right hand side of the display. This was the second display with gunk (some weird smear) in the top right hand corner, and dust in the lower right hand corner.
Anybody else experiencing problems with the build quality of the 27" displays?
    Regards from Berlin,
    jan

    Thanks Jan -
I had the same experience.  Amazon is awesome.  I told them there was dust under the glass - no problem.  They sent me a new monitor with 2-day shipping and without charging my card.  They gave me a UPS label and 30 days to return the old one.  Very professional, zero cost on my part.

Mine's a late '09, but there have been display issues with iMacs.
Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • Dirt behind the display

there is a small mark of dirt or something behind the glass. it's only small (maybe 2mm in length and width) but it is quite annoying. my question is, would this be a warranty issue? if it is, how long should i anticipate being away from my computer while the repair is carried out?
it's a 13" macbook pro and less than 6 months old. i have applecare.
    thanks much
    ian

Something behind the glass like this sounds like it could be a manufacturing defect, and should certainly be covered by your Applecare. The cure will likely be to replace the display. You will have to talk to the Apple Store and see what they could do for you. It may be possible to order the part and then to arrange to do the repair at a time that is convenient to you. In the US we can generally get a two day turnaround from the Apple Repair Depot, but I don't know what the situation would be in England.
    Good luck!

  • When opening Elements 13 I have a message  The monitor profile "Dell S2340L color profile, D65" appears to be defective. I have a new Dell PC with Windows 8.1?

When I open Elements 13 I have a message. The monitor profile "Dell S2340L color profile, D65" appears to be defective. I have a new Dell PC with Windows 8.1

You can check if the standard Srgb profile has been change.
    Close Elements.
Go to Start menu >> Control Panel >> Color Management.
    Click the Devices tab.
From the Device pop-up, select your monitor.
Check the ‘Use my settings for this device’ checkbox.
Make a note of the currently selected profile, which is marked as (default). If there isn’t an existing profile, you can skip this step.
    Click the Add button.
In the Associate Color Profile dialog, select sRGB IE61966-2.1 (sRGB Color Space Profile.icm) and press OK.
Back in the Color Management dialog, select the sRGB profile and click Set as Default Profile, and then close the dialog.

  • Dirt behind the Zen Micro scr

First of all I had it in my pocket which apparently had some dirt in it. Somehow some dirt got in behind the screen, it doesn?t ruin the player but it is very annoying. Is there any way to fix this?

panda_nelwin wrote:Oh ya another question. Is there any program that i can download fre to id tag all my music? I download most of my music song by song and a lot of them arent tagged.
It depends exactly what you're after. There's a list of favourites here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
Also would compressed air maybe help to get rid of the dirt?
It depends where it is. It's worth a try.

  • I have a Office Jet 6600 and cannot get it to print. I have power to the monitor.

I have an HP Office Jet 6600 and it stopped printing. I use HP ink 932xl and 933xl. The message on my  computer is: Missing or failed print head. The print head appears to be missing, incorrectly installed or incompatible. The monotor states: There is a problem with the printer or the ink system. Turn the printer off, than on. If the problem persis contact HP. So please tell how I can get my printer to work. This problem start about 3 weeks ago but I was out of the country  for 12 days. I rebooted the desk top and ended up with 1 print job but than this famous message became trapped in my computer.

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6-2127c Desktop Computer. Based on the specs, your computer has one DVI-D (digital) out and one VGA (analog) out. No adapter is going to change the DVI-D to VGA.
    (#1) - DVI-D (digital out only)     (#2) - VGA (analog out only)
Using a VGA analog "dual tail adapter" won't work either. With both monitors connected to the VGA port, your computer won't be able to identify the correct monitor settings because of communications conflicts between the devices. This setup will only work with one DVI-D monitor and one VGA monitor.

  • Black Screen on my MacBook 2005. I have to move the monitor back and forth very slowly to get it back on.

I can be on my MacBook working and then out of nowhere my screen goes black. If I go to close it the screen comes back on but is then at an angle where I can't see the screen.
Has anyone else had this problem at all?? I am worried what it will cost me to fix.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

With a Macbook that old, you might as well buy a new one.  You're on borrowed time already.

  • Streaks in the monitor

I have diagonal streaks inside the monitor. I can see them almost all the way across the top portion of my screen. I have a 24 inch iMac. Does anyone else have this problem?

It's possible for dirt/smoke to get behind the front glass or even inside the panel. I had them both ways from ocassionally burning incense sticks in the next room. If the stains are brownish it's probably dirt (grayish unregularities will more likely be caused by irregular backlight).
Here's a picture similar to what mine looked like.

However, if you take this kind of problem to Apple, they will most likely refuse a repair based on "environmental" issues (or even smoking, google for "apple warranty smoking").
Since my machine was out of warranty anyway, I decided to take things into my own hands:

  • Dirt behind LCD screen - common problem ?

Hi, I recently bought a toshiba EQUIUM A60-181 and I'm
experiencing a problem concerning the LCD screen.
There appears to be a defect or dirt behind the glass
because it's blocking light from a pixel. Any attempts at
apply moderate pressure to move this dirt has failed. I was
wondering if it's common with LCDs to expect some kind
of imperfection I cannot believe this has passed quality
control. Do i have justification for having it sent back
to toshiba for fixing it's only just 1 week old ??
I've read the warranty booklet and there's no mention of
dead pixel return policy can anyone elborate on what is
and what is not covered by the warranty ??
    cheers,
    Richard.

I've emailed Toshiba technical support to see where I
stand with regards to my problem. Having discussed this
issue with friends on IRC it appears I may actually have
something called a dead pixel. This is suppose to be quite
a common problem and some manufacturers can actually sell
you laptops with defected LCD screens which to me is criminal.
Ive searched the entire Toshiba website with the regards
to dead pixel cover policy or what the warranty does and
does not cover. I understand that to replace the screen is
gonna cost Toshiba loads of money but I would have never
bought this laptop if I have been warned that it may
contain defects in the screen. I can tolerate most things
like noisy fans harddrives and scratches but not problems
with the screen especially one thats brand new.
    cheers,
    Richard.

  • Can you get just your rear camera lens replaced or do you have to get the entire back screen replaced?

I recently dropped my phone for the first time, and neither of my screens cracked but my rear camera lens did get scratched badly. I can't use it at all to take picture. It just shows up as a fuzy screen when I open my rear camera. My iPhone isn't even a year old yet. Now, I need to know if I can get just the rear lens replaced or if I have to get the entire back screen replaced? I also need to know if anyone knows how much either of these would cost? Or is it free with the one year warrenty?

You would have to get the rear glass panel replaced, it is one part. Normal warranty does not cover accidential damage. You can do it yourself for 50$:

I had this happen to my 3G about a year ago. Just some specs of dust behind the screen. I took it into an Apple store and they replaced it with no questions asked, for free (because it was still under the applecare warranty).

  • The iMac i got presents spots in the window, in an apple store they said it maybe a manufacturing defect and they may resolve the problem changing the window for free. The question is.. I have to do the backup or it's not necessary?

Everything said in the discussion name.
I have to change the external glass and this problem too. Someone knows if I have to do necessary the backup?

You should backup anyway, using Time Machine or some other method, just in case Apple need to change the HD, or something goes wrong.
Always have a current backup, since computers & hard disks do fail.
