When you restore your iPhone, it will erase everything from your iPhone including the passcode. You can restore a backup from iTunes or iCloud to get your infromation back though. This article may help http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212

yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
go to the device summary
click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this!

Well with the MS Hotmail/Outlook.com account that is hard. But she should be able to link all of it to the iCloud system using her Apple ID.
I suggest you do a Google search for "link contacts, Calendars, iMessage with iCloud".
For some stupid reason MS has limited the syncing/linking of only emails and Notes with the Hotmail/Live Mail/Outlook.com system.
They have not included any Exchange features for syncing all that info. That is unless you are using Outlook 2013 and that is only for Windows.

Yes, that is exactly what it means.
The right way to do it is to first rebuild your library on the new computer, and then sync the iPod.
You can rebuild your library by copying the library from the old computer or from your backup.
If neither of those options is available, you can extract the songs from the iPod, although the process is a bit hairy. See this guide for the procedure, written by Forum member Steve/turingtest2.

I bought a Sun Ultra 5 server from ebay, and wanted to install Solaris 10 on it. I downloaded the 5-CD version of Solaris 10 from Sun website.
When I powered on the server, it dispalys a series of prompts:
Type control-d to proceed with normal starup
(or give root password for system maintenance)
I typed control-d a couple of times, and eventually it asked me to select run level 0-6, s
no matter which one I chose, it went back to 'type control-d ..' prompt.
How am I supposed to start the installation program? (I have CD 1 in the CD-ROM)
Or, how to completely wipe the old system and install Solaris 10?

If you get to select a run lever try 0 (halt) that will bring you to an ok> prompt where you can boot cdrom.
Alternately try STOP-A from the keyboard. That should also drop you to an ok> prompt and you can boot cdrom from there.

I have moved the mobilesync backup file as my C: is full. Whenever I delete the old mobilesync file and connect a device, iTunes rebuilds mobilesync in its original location. Can I stop this?

My C drive is full so I moved the MobileSync back up file to another drive using "junction". Problem is now that iTunes rebuilds MobileSync backup file in its original location on C drive. Any ideas how I can stop this?

i also just move my library to a NAS. i suggest you do this:
launch iTunes and point iTunes media folder location to the volume/shared folder on NAS. quit iTunes.
copy the iTunes folder from <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music to the NAS.
launch iTunes while holding option (⌥) and click on choose library when prompted. select the iTunes folder you just moved to the NAS.
you must make sure the volume/shared folder on the NAS is mounted on your desktop before launching iTunes but from now on the media folder location should stick (it does for me).

Why does Firefox keep updating when it knows it will not be compatible with extensions and plugins?

firefox now will not let me run videos or my birthday e-cards. i tried all of their solutions as much as i could but am not even vaguely a techie at 61.
why do the insist on updates that render stuff i use daily useless? why do I have delete or downgrade stuff to get things to work? this is total nonsense.
i may leave firefox for anything else given this CONSTANT issues..nearly every update something is now not compatible..folks are not happy, firefox. i know i am not.
ISSUE: videos and e-cards do not work. period. i have downgrade flash and messed with realplayer to no avail.

This is getting complicated. Flash Player problems are not necessarily the only subject of this thread and it is a solved thread so it would be best to open a new question.
The situation changes as new versions of Firefox and FlashPlayer are released, and both have updated within the last few days.
Regarding FlashPlayer problms with Flash 11.3 there appear to be three problems
* Real Player - that is best dealt with as a separate problem - so a first question has to be are you using Real Player and if so does that include video recording/downloading features ?
* Protected mode <br/> Many problems on Windows Firefox relate to the use of protected mode by the Flash Payer 11.3 . Also note this is an issue only affecting recent Windows OS s .
*Protected mode setting <br/> it is possible to set this or unset it manually, it is also possible for installers to set or unset this so not only the version, but where you obtain it and what the installer is can make a difference.
The security level of these versions also needs considering, remember protected mode is itself a security enhancement.
